First impressions are magical walking into a historic, prestigious building with a high ornate ceiling. It feels so optimistic. The front of house wearing a kilt approached me in the banking hall. His temperament was not friendly.

Gorgeous building, useless bankWent in to sort a problem with my account to be told that all in branch services have been moved to Manchester and that the only service they offer is paying money in and withdrawing cash and that I had to contact the web chat.Web Chat told me they also couldn?t sort the issue and I had to phone.Phone support told me to go to branch. The cycle repeats?Shockingly poor customer service. Ended up closing my account and switching to another bank.

This branch is so posh and beautiful but it doesn't have a toilet inside, so if you're waiting for a long time, you will have to find another place for a toilet.I tried to open an account with them but my proof of address was turned down. Staff tried to help but they said that I need to use the webchat.I tried the webchat 3 times and all the times they cut the conversation. With Bank of Scotland my registration took 5 MINUTES. 5! I will go to another bank for my savings. RBS worst customer experience ever.

When clearing in the house, I found an old Rainbow Savings Account. The last entry was 1988. An account I opened for my son and there is a sizeable balance in it.I've spent almost an hour texting on the Help and Support system. All it does is ask to choose from several lists - none of which are appropriate or asked for my 'telephone banking reference'.i then found a phone number and 20 mins later, someone answered and told me I had come through to somewhere where they could deal with my query but in fact had not listened to my query! Then I was transferred and guess what? I was cut off.How difficult can it be these days to speak to someone.Does any one know how to trace an old account please? S D

Pleasant people, welcomer (lady on 15/8) and lady behind the counter helped me deposit money. Very little wait. Lovely building to look at should there be a wait anyways.

hello! I would like to complain about the service at your bank Royal Bank of Scotland, 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh EH2 2AD. today, at about 12 noon, I arrived to clarify the details on my card. the man in the kilt was very unfriendly. to my questions, he demanded that I show a document with personal data that I held in my hands. He said that I have to show him everything. when I tried to explain to him what I needed, he demanded to open the application and said that I was spending too much. but is it his business? This is my personal money and I do what I want with it. also he did not help me with the device that the bank sent me for secure transactions. I asked to tell how to use it, but he did not want to. same way! made me wait for a long time, and did not answer any questions. I asked how to cancel the credit limit, I do not need it, he said no way. but perhaps the question is that I was originally given a credit card and not a debit card?I ask this employee to be fired, he is incompetent and makes people feel bad

The former Royal Bank headquarters building is more worthy as a must see tourist destination than its current role as a bank branch. Its amazing, pristine Georgian interior is one of Scotland?s finest and merits a quick visit regardless of who you bank with!

I didnt get to visit inside due to visiting on a work trip latest year though I must admit is a beautiful historic building. I've heard it's still being used as a bank!

The man in the kilt was extremely unhelpful and condescending, kept calling me by my first name and saying that I should do my banking online or over the phone (this was pre covid). I just wanted to check that my rent would come out on time so that I wouldn?t get charged for it being late over new year ?obviously it will, Fiona, you really shouldn?t be coming into branch for this?. I later did call the number on my card to double check and found I?d been given the wrong information and would be getting charged, and that there was no way to change it by then. Avoid. I?ve since changed banks as this was just one in a long series of difficulties with RBS.

Banking has always been frustrating but this branch takes it to a whole new level. The staff always seem to come out of hiding into the main lobby and just as quickly vanish into the abyss. For a city centre branch to only ever have 2 people (even 2 people is a rarity) ever serving is beyond me. But wait, The multi million pound renovation looks great, just a real shame it's drowned in the misery of actually doing any banking. Maybe next time you should exchange some gold leaf for some staff that actually help, rather than just ask me what I'm doing here....over and over again.
