I was in the hostel 18 years ago ( 2004 ) I was in a bad way with my addiction to alcohol, and mental health issues, they done everything in there power to help and support me , I really appreciate that because I don't know what would of happened to me, without people like that trying to help meI'm now back living in England, I'm long term sober and back in touch with family and friends ?

I regularly visit the salvation army in the pleasance to catch up with what is happening. I contacted them recently to speak with the German chaplain due to the loss of my dear friend jamhal who I met there 18 years ago and we became close friends up until his untimely passing in January of this year. I was disappointed not to be involved in the Christmas celebrations last December because of covid restrictions but was able to hand in some gifts on Christmas day. The homeless are very much stigmatised by their situation but believe me it can happen to anyone and were it not for the salvation army and charities such as shelter the situation would be a lot worse thank you to the lady chaplain for your support and kind words regarding my best friend jamhal.

The salvation army is non profitable organisations and it is global. The one a visited is a homeless place. When you work in a place like this or you sit down as a volunteer, you will thank God for providing for you because people will come in there to ask a place to sleep and people will come in for food. A man came in after midnight for blanket and socks. He was given and he said, this could save a life. He was given sandwiches and a cup of coffee. He walked in to the night not knowing, where he was going probably.
The staff have patient because they need it. They have to know most of the residents if not all. They are friendly and always ready to help and listen to people. All kinds of people lives there on the waiting list for housing mostly from the streets. I appreciate the work going there.
The salvation army also, have churches around.

This organisation saves lives, giving support and accommodation to homeless people. I can't thank them enough for the support and genuine care shown. Forever grateful.
