DO NOT GO THERE!!!it?s the worst place to go in Edinburgh. Do not even try. The security guy will tell you off at the entrance so you may feel you not fit in. The Truth is they are not professionals!

Great place, great drinks, friendly staff and felt safe by door

Such rude bouncers. Turned away last night at 10:45pm, not drunk, because we were a group of 5 people which apparently isn?t allowed? Bouncer was extremely rude about it as well. Not the first time I?ve had issues with them.

Whilst trying to get into the club, my friends and I joined the queue for entry, but were promptly denied without reason. When confronted, we were told ?we don?t need a reason to deny you,? but given that my friends and I are all brown, it?s racism. The people in front of us and behind us? All white. We were the only non-white people attempting entrance into this alleged ?club.? I do not recommend it - what?s the point? They didn?t ask for identification nor did they ask if we had drunk before. All bounces refused to make eye contact even. If you are BROWN, DO NOT COME HERE. THIS IS A RACIST CLUB.

I was in Edinburgh with my friends (we are from Spain) and the guy at the door told us that we couldn?t enter the place that day while he let some Scottish guys in, people in this place are racist. Don?t come here if you look for a nice party night in Edinburgh

DONT GO TO THIS CLUB!!!!!! The bouncer Andy refused us entry, gave no reasons and refused to look at either of us as females and only spoke to the male members of our party.

Something has gone wrong here. It used to be good. But now it?s not. STAY AWAY. Bar staff are really rude. They don?t understand their job is to SERVE customers. Music was AWFUL. I think a monk would make a better DJ than the guy who was pretending to be a DJ. Drinks tasted awful (made by the grumpy bar staff). Shame because this place used to be a the best on cowgate but now they?ve lost all their USP. New places are opening in new town, I think Cowgate is loosing its appeal. Subway needs to raise its game.

Paying a visit to subway really ruined the experience. I came up from Manchester. Racist bouncers who refused me entry for no reason. Was told to just try somewhere else. This can be dangerous for someone wanting to enjoy a night out( I hope the bouncers and their families experience the same thing I experienced when they are in a unfamiliar city). Can clearly see the bouncers were not brought up well by their parents.

Have been a regular at Subway since turning 18 and have almost never had a problem until a few nights ago. We didn?t have much luck that night having had an issue with a clearly homophobic bouncer at stramash and thought, with Monday being drag night, there would be no issues. After letting in five out of seven of the group (all being girls) they refused my non binary friend at the door. We didnt realise so they just went home and after getting in contact with them i asked the bouncers (after one of them high fived me? Guessing it?s because i was polite.) if they had a reason and they didnt tell me one. I explained our experience at stramash and the three bouncers at the door blatantly laughed at me and one of them said ?guess you?re regretting that high five now?. Made me extremely uncomfortable and was quite humiliating. Knowing that the bouncers at stramash and subway are handled by the same company it?s no wonder we were treated similarly. However, with subway presenting as very LGBTQ+ friendly, there must be staffing changes at the door.

Subway queerbaiting ?Me and my friends went out for our friends birthday (they/them). At this point we only had one drink. Our whole group got in except our friend, who?s birthday it was, (clearly queer) and their boyfriend who were turned away. When in the club our group began to worry where the birthday person was, thinking they were in the club looking around. One of my friends went outside to try and call them. When found out about what happened she told the bouncers that she was upset that they didn't let our friend in the club in which is plastered all over that they are lgbtq friendly. These grown men laughed and belittled her. subway If you are really lgbtq friendly I would highly suggest you get a new company of bouncers, especially ones that don?t discriminate against trans people, before your club gets boycotted and shut down.

Subway is... Subway. Not to be confused with its counterpart Subway sandwiches, Subway Cowgate is a nightclub with a "uniquely distinct" atmosphere which I can only describe as a school disco-ish, melting pot of questionable fashion. Its not awful, but if you are 22+ your going to feel old, and a bit disgusted with yourself. The staff and bouncers have always been okay with me and my parties, and the drinks are fairly cheap. Venoms are good, and would be my drink of choice if you do venture into the Subway Realm.

I would give this club 0 starts if I could. I am very upset about my experience in subway cowgate. The man on clock room, Jamie, was extremely unnecessarily rude to me and my friends. I had a tote bag which had loads of room in it for my friends jacket and on the clock room wall was a poster which said 1 item £1 two items £2 so I asked can I put my friends jacket in my bag and pay for two items and he said no which was fine and we paid separately. When he went to hang our jackets up I said to my friend that it seemed silly that we couldn?t put his jacket in my bag and Jamie came back to us saying ?I heard what you said about me I?ll get you kicked out? to which I replied ?I didn?t say anything about you at all, please tell me what I said that upset you? and he walked away without replying because obviously he couldn?t tell me anything I said as I had not said anything about him. Me and my friends then went to the bathroom strait after and as soon as we came out my friend was grabbed by bouncers and taken out of the club to stand in the rain without her jacket. I went back to clock room to collect mine and her belongings. I handed both tickets to Jamie who then out of nowhere called me a c word (trip advisor won?t let me write the actual word) and told me I should have been kicked out. He then only gave me one ticket item and the bouncer had to go back in for my friends ticketed belongings. I feel that under no circumstances should any customer be called a c word, especially as I feel like I was polite and did nothing wrong. If subway read this please check the security cameras and you will see that I was not aggressive or rude in anyway. One of the bouncers apologied and told us that Jamie was on the spectrum which I think shows the bouncer also agreed that we did nothing wrong. I can understand that perhaps being on the spectrum makes customer service roles hard for Jamie but he cannot be allowed to treat customers this way, particularly calling them a c word is unacceptable, autism or not.

We wanted to go in but they said that you have to pre book tickets, but the web site don?t let you buy tickets and also in all their social media don?t have the option to buy tickets? doesn?t make sense ? we couldn?t go in, I won?t try again, so.. if u are trying to go, ?go with pre book tickets ? (if u find the way to buy it, good luck)

The bouncers need to be fired as they genuinely bring down what is a fairly decent club otherwise. The interior is nice if not a bit small but you'll be left with a bitter taste after dealing with the security at the door. They are almost always rude and clearly love abusing their power. It really makes the whole experience and environment feel especially toxic and gross. If you need proof look at all the other reviews complaining about them
