We came here for a late lunch after a long drive and were not disappointed. Although we did not eat the namesake pakoras, everything else that we had was very good. The spices were quite close to authentic Indian and you could see a few locals unable to bear the spiciness in the food. One of the better chhole (actually chana) bhature that I've had outside India. Definitely a must try.

We got a couple of different types of Pakora, some Dal, some curry, a chicken kathi roll, and some Samosas. Whole family shared bites with each other and it was all just amazing! Beyond just the amazing food, we also ordered some of the Karak Chai. I cannot express how amazing this chai was! I love chai and have tried it lots of places, and this is hands down the best. Do your taste buds a favor, and come grab a bite at The Pakora Bar!

We were in Edinburgh for a couple of days and saw the Pakora bar online. It looked a bit different so thought we would give it a try! It was amazing!!! Food was stunning and very different with a selection of Pakoras that ranged from vegetable to Haggis and everything in between. Also a range of Indian street food which was all fantastic. I had Haggis Pakora and Punjabi Lamb curry and my wife had vegetable Pakoras and Butter Chicken. All really great and the service and atmosphere was incredible. also had a lovely chat with the Mother of the owners and she was such a lovely warm and friendly person. Really cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Please make it a must do on your next visit to Edinburgh.

We visited two nights in a row because both the food and the atmosphere at The Pakora Bar are really lovely. The first night was our first time eating pakora and they were delicious. On the second night we also tried the curries and those were amazing as well. And we tried two Indian desserts with flavours that are absolutely out of this world. The owner and the staff here make you feel very welcome and at home, they have time for a chat and show genuine interest in their customers. The owner explained that they import all of their spices from India to make sure they get the best quality ingredients. And while many Indian restaurants in the UK serve "Indian" food that is actually designed for British people, at the Pakora bar the Indian food is designed for people from India. And it shows in the amazing quality and flavours. If you're in Edinburgh, The Pakora Bar is a must-visit!

We try and squeeze in a trip to The Pakora Bar when I visit my daughter in Edinburgh, particularly if we?re bringing other guests along. I like the change in venue down by Holyrood and once again the restaurant has a friendly family feel to it. For meat eaters and vegetarians together, I?d suggest the chef?s mixed pakora, or the paneer pakora. There were 3 of us and 2 types of pakora (with chutneys) and 2 curries were enough to satisfy us! If it?s available, The saag curry is really good. Unfortunately it was sold out, but we still had a delicious dinner, washed down with Kingfisher beer. I wish I lived closer, then I?d visit more often and try more dishes.

Theres not a huge choice of places to eat on Holyrood Rd but this is worth the wee daunder down to the bottom of the road. Great choice of pakora, with the majority Gluten Free and many Veggie/ Vegan options. Good selection of curries and streetfood. Big place with Indoor and outdoor seating, modern non-fussy design. Cant book a table, so just turn up. Good for big groups as well as small. Quick and friendly service. We had a selection of pakora but the haggis pakora and black pudding pakora were highlights. Curries were also very tasty. Reasonably priced with decent portions. All in all and good place to visit.

Enjoyed the experience, however we had read the menu in advance as on a budget. Turns out our first choice was only available at lunchtime. Food was lovely and staff were very friendly.

I can?t rave enough about this place whose menu has something for everyone - it was recommended by a vegan friend. The cauliflower pakora was outstanding, as was the Dahl and the aloo tiki chaat. The service was efficient and super friendly. We had lovely conversations with one of the brothers who started the business and with his mum, whose recipes are behind their success and who?s passionate about the restaurant providing the sort of high quality cooking that she?d do for her own family. Amazingly good value - the Pakora Bar deserves way more than five stars.

More than just Pakoras but the vegetable pakoras are the best I?ve ever tasted. I visited here 3 days ago and had the Lamb Curry, fantastic. I had to come back this time trying the Butter Chicken, outstanding! It?s not just the food and the atmosphere that?s great, this is truly a family run restaurant. 3 Brothers run the restaurant but Mum and Dad are there too. I had the pleasure of talking with John, the Dad behind the Restaurant, such a pleasure. So, take a walk down from all the tourist traps and check this place out. I?m already looking forward to my next visit.

Incredible food, and amazing atmosphere. If you get the chance, speak to Raj and ask about his friends.

Such tasty food, amazing service and great decor. If you are visiting the Royal Mile just pop down one of the closes towards Holyrood Park and you?ll find the restaurant just opposite al dynamic earth. Really worth making the effort!

This was a godsend of a place for me as I am coeliac and there aren?t many places in Edinburgh that mention Gluten Free so frequently. I am also vegan and had plenty of options with tasty pakora and a very nice spinach Dahl with rice. Plus there were two types of locally brewed GF beer! It?s popular, not many restaurants down that road and clearly people are returning customers. Lots of daylight, nice upbeat soul music, funky paper printed menus, clean and very well run with efficient friendly service even as more and more people turn up at the door. There?s an option to sit outside too under shelter. Highly recommend.

We are up in Edinburgh for the Fringe. We came here on our last night Regret not coming earlier so we would have come back. Lovely food - lamb curry and chicken pakora - and lovely genuine staff making you feel very welcom. We live in Manchester but The Pakora Bar would match anywhere on the curry mile.
