We hadn't tried this place before but it sounded great from online info. Today we walked a while to get there specially but found it closed down unfortunately. Thought I would write this review to warn others it's not there anymore. Certainly at the moment anyway.

I had the spicy garlic chicken with rice. The food was excellent and very hot and the portion was good for a hungry person. Servers were polite and prompt. Really enjoyed it!

Everything was delicious! Even my husband, who hasn?t liked any other Indian food he?s tried, loved it! He had the railway workers lamb and potatoes and I had butter chicken and garlic naan. Delicious!

This place is now called India Kitchen - which is a better name for it. stumbled across this place when we were supposed to go to a very famous expensive Indian restaurant but for various reasons couldn?t get there. We were hungry so despite an odd menu including cocktails and fish and chips, we decided it would do. It ended up being the best two (different) curries we have ever had. Garlic chilli chicken had depth and top notes we couldn?t quite name but it was an explosion in the mouth. Spinach Lamb was the best I have ever had. Every spice singing. The garlic naan was light and airy. The service was great - sweet girls, fast service (it was fairly quiet). It?s a peculiar business and I think there is some lacking in confidence in what they do - hence the odd mix of cocktails and western food and curry. Trust me. If you like proper Indian food made by a very talented chef at incredibly low prices - go here. And if you?re a food writer, or an investor with experience in managing talent, go and order the spinach lamb. Someone here is gifted but needs some strong guidance and confidence in what they actually do well. Thanks guys - as far as I?m concerned your waiting staff were great. I live 200 miles away but I?ve got everything crossed for you. And believe in what you do - get rid of the western food xx

Vegan? Allergies? Particular? Priyanshi was the most helpful, kind server. She had extensive notes written on a menu that she brought over for me to investigate myself so my tummy wouldn't have any surprises. She was informative too about other wonderful places to go in Edinburgh. She felt like an old friend! I will come back again and again next time I'm in Edinburgh. (This was sitting in my drafts forever because when I hit publish two months ago I didn't have a connection. I'm so sorry Priyanshi that I didn't realize this until now. I wanted to give you the review right away!)

The restaurant is nice but seem not to care about hygiene. I went to the bathroom and there was an employee using the bathroom. When he finished he left without washing his hands. I followed him and he went directly into the kitchen. I spoke to an employee who said he was the kitchen supervisor and told him what I observed and pointed the employee out. The supervisor seemed disturbed I pointed it out and just shrugged his shoulder and stated ?ok?.

Bustling place in the beating heart of Edinburgh. Dahl Makhani is very good. Not sure about everything else on the menu, as I didn't sample anything else, and my accompanying roti was bland. Plenty of room upstairs and downstairs, clean toilets (upstairs), and wide variety of choice - in terms of meals and drinks on the menu. Staff friendly & helpful.

I had a delightful meal. I was walking the Royal Mile during the Edinburgh Festival, when I saw this spot. I was craving curry so I popped in for a bite. I was seated outside on the street immediately, which was perfect since I was in the mood to people watch. I ordered the butter chicken and some naan. The butter chicken was delicious but the naan was dry and not very good. Overall my experience was good. I scored low because naan makes the dish. And in this case the naan made the meal less than it could have been.

The bar person did not seem to have a clue what she was doing, trying to serve different groups at once so everyone waited a ridiculously long time for food and drinks, when it wasn't even that busy.On a separate note when pouring a vodka with a 25ml measure you were lucky if there was 15ml in it before putting it in the glass. Twice I challenged her on this and she just smiled and continued to do it to myself and others in my company.1st and last time I will go to this place!

The restaurant disappointed me with its meager food portions. The Delhi Style Hakka Noodles (not anywhere close to Delhi style) seemed to have an overwhelming amount of soy sauce (and Salt), giving it an unpleasant taste. Moreover, I found the prices to be surprisingly high for what was offered.

Service was really horrible even when there was no crowd.Management needs to be changed. The waiter was in so hurry to take order as we couldn't even see the menu properly ?Would never recommend any to go to this restaurant.

On our first visit to Edinberg and walked the Royal mile. Were thrilled to see Indian Street food sign. The excitement faded quickly when the hosts greeted us by yelling at us to leave umbrella's outside. Fair enough. We ordered Lamb dish that said it's a street food. Nothing like any street food I've had before. Curry dominated Tomato taste. They might as well rename it as Itialian Lamb Marsala. The portion was less than half of any other Indan Restaurant. To their credit, they warned us to order 2 dishes between two of us. The Garlic bread was Regular Naan with green chutney lathered on it. What a disappointment.
