SLR mot'd my disabled fathers car and have taken a very large payment of £540 after allegedly replacing the brake discs and pads again as they did last year and the year before with no instruction from us to do so. The car had only done 300 miles since they were replaced 6 months ago?? SLR said they would call me if the car needed anything after asking several times if they should just go ahead with any work if needed and were clearly instructed to call us if the car needed any work. yet SLR went ahead and done £540 of work without the go ahead from anyone of us?? Targeting vulnerable customers! I'm also advised that the old discs can't be returned or inspected when asking for this on the day of the alleged fitting. This work did not need done! My father is stunned and beside himself after me pointing this out.Update 14/3/23We have now had an independent garage inspection report. After the car only doing 10 miles since the mot it has been inspected and deemed to not have had the brakes serviced recently as to SLR's claims. SLR changed the brake discs and pads in July 2022 and after our query of the large payment taken from my disabled fathers bank details on 27/1/23 they advised us of redoing the discs and pads due to the car failing the mot and due to these being faulty after only 300 miles?? This has now been deemed untrue by an independent mot tester. If they were faulty then they should have been changed under a components warranty claim. If the car had failed on these then this should have been electronically failed on the gov website also but it was not. The car was returned to my fathers house with an mot certificate and the key put through his letterbox. The story of the discs and pads hesitantly explained to us on the payment query and then an invoice for this fabricated work produced by post to my fathers house 2 weeks later (why not when the car was returned with the mot certificate and key?) SLR have now lied to trading standards, the police, the bank and ourselves about work they have fictisiously done but yet an independent inspection clearly states that the brake discs and pads are of an age equivalent to match our receipt of work done in July 2022.This is all now escalated with the police and trading standards investigating this. Updates to follow.Update 24/3/23SLR Garage are now stating to Trading standards that the discs were instantly deteriorated after fitting in January by the weather and specifically on return to my disabled father. So, they aged 6 months overnight?? If anyone else has been fed these stories by SLR and have suspicions of if work was actually carried out then please contact Moray council trading standards department. I wouldn't wish this treatment on anyone! The fact that SLR have taken an unauthorised large sum of £540 from my disabled fathers account to which was only supposed to be £54 for an MOT and then made up their fabricated stories on our initial queries regarding the money taken remotely with the customer not present and saying hesitantly by telephone about re-doing the brake pads and discs all round when this fabricated work was already carried out fully only months before at a cost of £500 also. These lies from a so called professional to cover the taking of a large sum of money from a vulnerable disabled person is astounding to say the least! We are now pushing police scotland for a fraud investigation due to the independent garage report of the brakes not being new in January. SLR have also lied to the bank about having authorisation from us to take this payment on our application for a chargeback and they have had the chargeback cancelled. When all along we initially thought that this was a simple typo error and to which has massively grown arms and legs is so unbelievable!

Excellent service, friendly staff, and experienced mechanics. Reasonably priced excellent value for money.If you need a MOT or work doing on your vehicle. I would recommend Sandy Reid every time having been a customer for over 10 years.Happy customer every time.

I feel compelled to leave this review as I am disgusted with how you have treated my elderly and vulnerable father in law.My partner dropped his dads' car off yesterday for an MOT and left clear instructions that should there be any issues or work needing done to make contact to discuss (The reason being the car has not covered many miles since the MOT last year).My partner received a phonecall this morning to say the MOT was complete and the garage had dropped the car back round to the house.On asking how much the cost for the MOT was you can only imagine our horror when he was told it was £500+ .... At no point did the garage make contact to discuss any work needing done and for them to go ahead and make the decision to spend over £500 of an elderly vulnerable mans money without his consent has left us beyond disgusted.How this garage can justify saying that there needed to be new brake discs and pads when the car had barely moved in the last 12 months is beyond me.I would seriously avoid this garage as they have no morals especially in todays current cost of living crisis!

I had to take my car here for warranty work and I can?t complain at all, Daniel was particularly helpful and all the staff were friendly and cheerful.Next time I need garage services I will come here for sure
