Everything else in Inverness was fantastic but Blackfriars was a let down. Slightly chaotic check in. The tv didn?t work - ok not a priority but we all watch a bit of telly on holiday right? -and the room wasn?t cleaned after our first night. Dean the general manager refused any sort of discount despite us having to move rooms - to a smaller noisier one- as well as above. Feel bad writing this as the staff working there were young and enthusiastic, shame they have a general manager who makes all the decisions and doesn?t have any sort of customer service bedside manner. They deserve better maybe Dean? Great location otherwise

We were let down last minute on NYE by another restaurant 15 minutes before our booking, we called Blackfriars not expecting to get in & they were able to accommodate for us 10 minutes later for a table of 7. The service was amazing, the staff were on top of everything, food was amazing & the live music was a great bonus too! They even managed to accommodate giving us half an hour extra than what we were originally meant to have. Will definitely be back & recommend!

We stayed here for 2 nights in cold December! Room was spacious, very well equipped and warm! Spacious modern en-suite too, with a great powerful shower. The room was excellent value for money and staff were friendly and helpful. We will be back!! Thank you for a great stay. Breakfasts were great too!

Stayed here while in Inverness for four days. Wonderful service, great room! Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The food and drink were wonderful as well. No issues with noise or temperature. One night was cold but popped the radiator on and was great. The shower in room 105/Kessock was stellar which is important after long days of hiking and touring. Another reason to go back to Inverness!! Thank you!!!

Recently went into Blacks to purchase a head torch and the staff member Makala was so helpful and more than happy for me to test out all available options. Would highly recommend this shop for any of your outdoor needs, the staff are lovely

Would have been 5/5 had it not been an issue with breakfast! Although we were offered and got breakfast refunded from our stay!

We stopped by for dinner and dessert. Although they were out of some foods/ingredients....they were extremely sorry and offered other options. Very clean and a nice dinner overall.

On checking the menu after passing in the street, my wife and I decided to pop in. So glad we did. Warm greeting followed by delicious food and big portions. We had to give dessert a miss. Has a good range of whiskies on offer too. Would definitely revisit.

We?ve been in Scotland for about 10 days, and hands down, this was the best Cullen Skink and pan seared Salmon we have had yet! It was simply delicious! Highly recommend! The cosmos were also very good as well as the Monkeys Shoulder whisky! A must!

Unfortunately one star is mandatory. We went there on a Tuesday night around 7 PM We waited around 45 minutes for our food. I ordered the steak sandwich. The steak and the bread was so burned all I could taste was the taste of burned....the French fries were good although Also we ordered the roasted pork belly which was delicious but the sides (mashed potatoes + a grilled apple+something we didn't knew) was cold and burned totally black. I am glad we didn't go a Friday night around dinner time

Shocking practices and attitudes at Blackfriars Inverness. We visited on 1st June 2023 for drinks prior to a dinner reservation at 19.30 elsewhere. I ordered a pint of Heineken and a medium Rose Wine from the menu - the wine chosen was listed directly beneath the heading 'Rose Wine' and listed for £6.10. I ordered another round and thought nothing of it until I went to pay and was given a bill of £25.00..... This is for 4 drinks in a mediocre pub On investigation, I found that we had been charged £7.50 for a medium glass of average wine (twice)... Not the £6.10 expected. I queried this and I was shown another rose wine on the menu for considerably more money (the other wine was on a different page, and not categorised as Rose) - I was told that this was the wine I was given (at no point was this made clear, and I had no way of verifying that I was given the apparently superior product) - they (reluctantly) offered to give me the difference back, but I refused out of principle... The money wasn't the factor, it was the apparent deception I was exceptionally annoyed at this practice and I made it clear (maybe a little too loudly) My belief is that they thought I was a tourist and opted to try to charge extra in the belief I was visiting the area (I have lived here for 30 years) and they did not like being called out for it.... They disliked it so much, they asked me to leave, despite having half a pint of overpriced beer left in my glass (note - in 51 years I have never been thrown out of a pub before, so this was a first)... They even called the police. - This would have been interesting if I didn't have to be elsewhere, as I believe they were obtaining money through deception In short - check your bill as you might get a surprise - and the 'manager' urgently needs retraining in both service and ethics

A group of us enjoyed staying at Blackfriar's for a few nights. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. It is a historic building which was fun, and had recently been refurbished so that was nice. The floors were a bit squeaky and you could hear people walking in other rooms, but that wasn't surprising. They did have plug in room deodorizers in every room and in the halls which posed a problem for me as I am highly sensitive to artificial scents. I just unplugged our room and left the windows open which worked but the halls were overpowering. It didn't smell bad, just gave me a bit of a headache if I was in the hall for any length of time. It was nice overall and a fun experience. The pub was pretty good for dinner. We had fish and chips or steak pies. Breakfasts which were included were ok. The salmon and scrambled eggs was probably the best in my opinion.
