Booked an appointment there for my mum as a gift for her, spent over £120 for a basic cut and single all over brown colour. Made the mistake to send her there again after her previous experience there. First of all, they dyed her hair completely different (much darker brown than she had asked) so I called them up and was told by the staff once she keeps washing it will lighten down, they think customers are naive. She was offered no drinks on the day which is unusual for a hair salon especially because these guys do serve them but clearly pick and choose who to serve. I will say that some staff are very polite however, unfortunately most are not. Lack of professionalism also as they all give different prices which makes no sense as there is only one pricing list. Will not be taking her there or myself again in the future. For such prices you can go to better salon in Edinburgh city.

Sadly I did not have a positive experience at this salon, I had an end of day appointment and it was clear the staff wanted me out as quickly as possible after having to wait for 20minutes to get started. I was given only a very brief consultation and my cut was completed in 20minutes and was definitely not worth £50. I contacted the Mgr and received a standard response evidencing the customer service even further. I wouldn?t recommend based on the service generally and the haircut I received.

SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICEComplete full review of what happened. I was given a gift voucher of £100 less than a year ago by a family member for Du Beau and assumed it would be a year expiry. This was my fault for not checking with them sooner to confirm the length of the voucher (it was only 6 months) however I had hoped that as the expiry date on the card was not legible (even the director got it wrong when I sent her a picture of it) that they would take at least some responsibility, and my hope was that with some negotiation, conversation, and empathy that we could come to some sort of arrangement even if it wasn?t for the full £100, but straight off the bat I was told no.As a consumer, it?s hard for me to see how a company can, with good intention, keep someone?s money and not provide them a service. I know legally they have every leg to stand on, so that?s fine, but morally, it genuinely feels like they?re just pocketing the money and going ?oh goody, that was an easy hundred bucks?. And yes for anyone who is unsure, they are legally in the right, but how they couldn?t have come back with something like ?you should have checked with us if you were unsure of the expiry, but we admit that it isn?t very clear on the card so we can offer you part of it (I don?t know maybe £40/£60) if you use it by X date? is just very strange to me as someone who has worked in customer service for years. The way they handled this was outrageous, saying things like ?I have meticulously reviewed your baseless complaint? as the first sentence of their most recent email, and that they would rather not ?compromise our brand?s aesthetics? in order to make important information like the expiry dates more clear. The email response on a whole was a very patronising and condescending tone. I definitely got the sense they were unhappy when I had said I would share this experience with others in Livingston and actually said in their email that they saw me saying that as a ?threat?. Also saying that I had ?unreasonable demands? despite me not ?demanding? anything (in a phone conversation with the receptionist initially I had asked if anything could be done - not demanded - and she then arranged for Kirsty to email me). On the back of Kirsty initially emailing saying they wouldn?t do anything, and getting the expiry date wrong herself from looking at the photo I sent of the voucher (she got the day wrong, but the month and year correct as I?d already said what the month and year was to Emma who wrote it down for Kirsty) I wrote back expressing my disappointment, pointing out the flaws of the voucher design and my views on how they could morally feel okay not offering anything when they have already pocketed the £100, and yes I used the word ?stealing? as it felt of a similar way. After multiple paragraphs where Kirsty claims my query and concerns are a number of things including baseless, ludicrous and absurd - and essentially leaves me feeling personally attacked, she goes on to offer me a 10% discount on my next service (which felt very disingenuous) - and as if I could go back to a place that treated and spoke to me like she did! She then ends the email with ?Thank you for taking the time to share your baseless concerns with us. We hope you will refrain from such unwarranted accusations in the future.? (Referring to me having said it essentially felt like they were stealing hard earned money by deliberately making it difficult to see the expiry date by using black card and black biro pen). It?s a shame as I don?t treat myself often, I might get my hair done every few years, and makeup and nails done for special occasions but I would always come here for it. I definitely won?t be back. I?m also aware of friends and family who I?ve spoken to about this situation, who already no longer come here for other reasons, mainly the prices for the quality of work compared to the quality they can get at other salons in Livingston for better prices.

Booked myself in for cut and colour and my daughter in for a cut. Only to find out that after calling for the appointment a week earlier AND going in for a colour patch test- I hadn't even been booked in. So disappointed!! Now to find a new hairdresser!
