We were here on a trial day after a temporary closed season. The people were amazingly nice, the scones were tasty, and the price were more than fair☺️ I recommend this place wholeheartedly ?

Lovely food. We had a lovely afternoon tea. Great sandwiches and the scones were the best! The staff were all lovely. It was very busy so I would recommend you book in advance if you can. Hope to visit again soon.

From The Almshouse Tea Shop
The Almshouse Tea Shop is an award winning café set in the small medieval Somerset town of Axbridge. The Almshouse building itself dates back to circa 1450 and oozes character and history. The Almshouse Tea Shop is set over two floors with additional outdoor tables in Axbridge Square.
On the ground floor there is also a small independent book shop selling both new and preloved reads.
We offer teas, coffees, light lunches, homemade cakes and scones and our speciality Cream Teas and Afternoon Teas. We always recommend booking a table as we are often busy and full to capacity, especially if you are needing a table on the ground floor.
Nicky and The Almshouse team look forward to welcoming you soon.
