This is such a lovely place. The smell of fresh coffee welcomes you in. We went for lunch on a quiet Tuesday. The fish pie is a spictured in the other reviews. Piping hot with large pieces of white fish and whole prawns in a creamy sauce topped with buttery mash. The boeuff Borg was also delicious with loads of wine rich gravy. Would definitely recommend. They also didn't mind our two dogs coming in! Result!

Just popped in for a coffee and ended up having lunch, outstanding and dog friendly to boot!

We had a lovely meal at Mary's last night. Great food, relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff. Lisa our waitress was particularly good, her customer service skills stood out.

I took 3 adult grandchildren there on December 12th and was really disappointed. It was very busy because there was live music so service was incredibly slow. I certainly wouldn?t have booked had I known, obviously that music appeals to many but we just found it intrusive making conversation difficult. I have been to Mary?s many times but not sure about returning, certainly not on Tuesday evenings.

Very nice to have something on a Spanish theme, we had a selection of tapas. It was so good. Need to return to tackle the main menu next. Great atmosphere and vibe in this lovely restaurant. Service was spot on.

What a lovely place. Delicious food, friendly service, and reasonable prices. Live music on a Tuesday night was an added bonus.

Mary?s has long been one of our local ?go to? venues and we have previously been very satisfied. Having not visited for a little while our lunch experience today was disappointing bordering on unsatisfactory. We do not make a habit of writing unsatisfactory reviews but, as retirees with money to spend, we expect to receive an element of hospitality rather than hostility. We got the impression that the staff in attendance today would rather have been doing something else, somewhere else. Service appeared to be ?a lot of trouble ?. Specifically, whilst the food was satisfactory, presentation was not great and I could have made better looking fish cakes (my partners choice) myself! We were not asked whether our meals were satisfactory, whether we would like a dessert or whether we would like coffee. When it came to settle the bill, I was expected to pay the total without being given a breakdown of the cost; I demurred until a till receipt was provided. After we left Mary?s we visited 5, The Beach in Clevedon for coffee and a desert and received the usual lovely reception. I never thought that we would have to say this but we will think very seriously about whether we choose to eat out at Mary?s again.

This is the third time I have been here for a birthday meal, this time my 85th. The seating and ambience had changed, seated next to the door although it wasn't full. Food was ok but service very bad and my son refused to pay the service charge. After the tapas starters and main courses ordered we were asked if we would like desserts. Replied yes but after our main courses, which were checked up on. After main courses we ordered desserts but before they came we were presented with the bill. One hand didn't know what the other one was doing. Obviously will not be going there again for a celebration. Such a shame as it had, until now, always delivered. Also the clientele were quite noisy.

Not the place it used to be. We were frequent visitors but standards have definitely declined. Cheaper liqueurs. Drinks not chilled. Staff not as accommodating as they were. Subtle changes to menus and portion size. Looks like they are on a cost cutting exercise.

Very disappointing. We booked an early 6 O'clock table for our Mother's 89th birthday ,as we had arranged a surprise party for 8 pm at another venue . The waiting staff were friendly. We were given water and our order was taken by 6.10pm There was only one other table occupied at that time. By 7.10pm, we still had no food. I went to the counter to ask if we'd been forgotten or if we were actually getting our food. The staff were very apologetic and looked embarrassed. We were offered some bread as compensation.....not particularly great compensation for over a hours wait !! At 7.20pm, we finally received our tapas which were I can only describe as being mediocre. It was all very disappointing as Mary's had been recommended to us. Later in the evening, friends told us they'd stopped going to Mary's as they too had to wait for over an hour for food. It was such a shame being a special occasion for our dear Mother.

Unexpectedly nice place. Thanks, Late Friday booking accepted. Excellent choice of food, fusion options with Spanish twist. One of the best fish pies of last few years.

My friend said it used to be very good but we were very disappointed. the cod croquettes had very little fish in them and the cauliflower cheese was just cauliflower in a white sauce with just a bit of cheese on top. Also the 'bread ' that was £3.95 was just a slice of tasteless toast that we discovered when we mentioned it when we left it was the gluten free. Delivered by mistakeVegetarian options: About the selection you would expect from any restaurant these days but we were disappointed in the cauliflower cheese see above

This marks our third visit to Mary's, primarily for the music, which remains the highlight of our experience. The musicians and the overall ambiance are truly exceptional, and the service consistently meets our expectations.Regrettably, the food falls short, both in terms of flavour and presentation. When we think of tapas, we envision fresh, vibrant Spanish dishes, but the reality was quite different. The dishes we ordered didn't live up to this expectation. While they were acceptable, there is definite room for improvement. If we had seen photos of the tapas before ordering, we might have made different choices. Typically, tapas are known for their simplicity, freshness, and deliciousness, but here, the calamari was deep-fried in a style reminiscent of onion rings, and the cheese selection felt basic in both quality and presentation. Among the choices, the olives stood out as the most enjoyable. Our experience with the main courses was also underwhelming, and we would encourage the restaurant to explore more culinary options, as well as offer the feedback to the chef.Additionally, there's room for improvement in the presentation and etiquette associated with wine ?. It's customary, when a non-house wine is ordered, to open the bottle at the table and offer at least one person a taste before serving. Unfortunately, on several occasions, we selected a non-house wine, and it arrived at our table in a jug. We never saw the bottle, had the chance to taste it, or witnessed the staff opening it. The jugs used were more reminiscent of milk jugs and not the customary way to serve wine. This aspect drew comments from everyone at our table, and addressing this issue could enhance the appreciation of customers when purchasing a bottle of wine. Most significantly, my husband, who has celiac disease, had a severe reaction after consuming what was purported to be gluten-free food at Mary's. We had specifically called to inquire about gluten-free options before making the reservation, and we also informed our waitress about his dietary needs. Despite these precautions, cross-contamination occurred, and he fell ill. This is a serious concern as it poses a significant health risk for individuals with celiac disease. It might be wise for Mary's to reconsider offering gluten-free options unless they can guarantee the prevention of cross-contamination. This experience has left my husband and his celiac community apprehensive about revisiting the bar, which is unfortunate, as the establishment holds great potential.Dietary restrictions: Non gluten free reliable

We booked in for tapas and wine and it did not disappoint. The ambiance in Mary's is fantastic with lovely decor , vintage pharmacy items and great chilled music. Reasonably priced wines and tapas. Our only criticism would be the whipped feta that was really watery and not really for dipping. We had a fabulous evening, thank you. Barb and Si Andersen
