What a pleasant and easy experience. Went in with my son dressed up in his favourite cowboy costume and got his account setup in no time.

I went to Santander in Taunton to open a child savings account for my newborn son and was told I'd have to book an appointment in mid December and there were no earlier appointments! As I did not want to wait that long, I decided to try Yorkshire Building Society as I was walking past to see what accounts they offered. Have to say I was massively impressed and glad I went in! Despite not having an appointment, I was told I could be squeezed in and within 15 minutes my sons account was open. The staff member who assisted with the opening of the account was friendly, courteous and extremely helpful.Once open I then proceeded to pay some money into the account at the cash desk and the staff behind the desk were also excellent. Again, very friendly, helpful, very obliging and chatty asking me about my son. Even the store manager who was at the front of the bank also checked in with me while I was being served to see if I had all the help I needed. He was extremely friendly and charismatic!Safe to say I've not experienced this level of customer serivice in a while, but I would seriously consider relocating my other accounts to Yorkshire Building Socicity based on todays experience today! ? ? ? ? ?

Would not open the door to my wife yesterday ( Wednesday) at 1.49pm, beared man saying CLOSED...thought your were open till 5pm? Liz tried going online but computer says no...so she gave up and went elsewhere! Do Yorkshire Building Society in Taunton not want our money????

My last review seems to have been removed by the branch or even Google. Many other better building societies around. Service was awful, male staff member Carl was unhelpful, very much like the Little Britain character, computer says no without any further explanation. Would give zero stars if possible

Rates are disappointing for a mutual, staff not engaging and not a great atmosphere when I visited. Felt like I was a nuisance and interrupting them looking at something in the screen.
