Country pub in the ancient village of Barrow Gurney near Bristol airport. This pub serves real ale and has a pleasant traditional pub feel. Enticing . Haven't had an opportunity to try their Sunday roast yet, but it looked appetizing. Pleasant beer garden at the back and a large open space oppose.This old Inn is worth supporting. Try it and you'll like it.

We came for dinner for the first time last night, lovely warm welcome from the landlord, very friendly service! We sat by the cozy fire, played cards, and enjoyed fresh wholesome food. Steak was huge! And juicy! Cheddar cheese burger was homemade, served with chips and coleslaw. Loved it! We will be coming back. Highly recommend The Prince's Motto!

Great welcome. Myself and partner enjoyed a few drinks and a great chat with the landlord as we were a bit early for our flight. Will definitely visit again.

Amazing pub lovely home cooked food highly recommended the chicken curry and gammon steak . Lovely warm cosy place. Definitely be back. Great service so nice to have traditional table service.

Fantastic cosy country pub under recent new management. Very quaint and steeped in history this pub feels really authentic, located right in the heart of Barrow Guerney Village. The landlord and staff are friendly and welcoming, food is proper british pub grub. Chose the minute steak, rare which comes on a bed of sauteed mushrooms and onions, side of chips and peppercorn sauce for only 12.50 which is an absolute bargain! (Came back later in the week for the Fish & Chips with homemade tartare sauce as I couldnt decide between the 2). Some lovely deserts on the menu too.Overall was really impressed, theres 2 beers on tap, Doom Bar and Butcombe as well as 3 thatchers and the best pint of Guiness you'll get on this side of the water. Great atmosphere, friendly locals and a roaring fire, what more could you ask for? These fellas know how to run a pub and it really shows, id definitely recommend a visit.Kid-friendliness: Kid and also dog friendly, locals had a beautiful Greyhound sitting quietly in front of the fire.

Haven't been here for a while and was greeted by the new owner, Tommy. Lovely chap and made a great atmosphere in the pub, felt like a proper little local again! Bar staff were great and the chef/ kitchen was more than accommodating! Can't wait to go back!

Forget the pubs on the main drag, we were lucky to stumble across one of the last surviving ?proper pubs? as we headed for the airport. Not many country pubs like this left, long may it continue. Fantastic welcome from Tommy, Jock and Andy. Looking forward to my next trip

The best place on the way to airport or to have meal and drink,tommy is the best host and nicest genuine guy ,the food and quality of drinks were awesome and the local were the freindliest ,lee and lisa thanks for your hospatality and john the bar man ,highly reccomend ,definitely our new place to stay ??

The warmest of welcomes today, my first visit. Landlord so easy to talk to and find out more about this very very traditional english country pub. Food still being served at 15:00 hours Sunday. Menu was basic wholesome food, unfussy but sure to satisfy who like pub grub. Does a good trade from locals and passers-by. A few real ales, three thatchers, two lagers all on draught and guinness. Small, cosy, chatty. Glad we tried this one. The landlord is especially friendly. I sometimes find small pubs a little intimidating but we were offered a table from one of the locals and loved the local atmosphere. Meals and desserts generally range from £5 to £14.

Whist the pub is well suited for walkers passing by, I 100% recommend The Motto as a destination visit even if you?re only vaguely in the area. Tos and Tommy are incredibly warming, to the point that on our second visit Tos still remembered mine, my wife and our son?s name. The food is great pub fare, with the Sunday roast excellent and direct competition to all the usual Bristol joints that are booked for months due to their good rep. As a final plus the Guinness lines are actually properly serviced (something severely lacking in a lot of pubs). Strongly recommended.

Stopped in here on the off chance when passing.. staff were decent and the roast was lovely! Highly rate this place. Food came out quick and really enjoyed it.

Only came in for a quick pint, got chatting to the landlord and ended up staying for three! hard to find a traditional pub with traditional values, best pint of Guinness in the uk in my opinion, food looks incredible ? will be back soon to sample it for sure. warm, welcoming and friendly staff. couldn't recommend more 10/10
