Having got to the point where reaching for my glasses before even getting out of bed and despite opticians reassuring me that my eyes would stabilise for a while ( which they and ) the decision to have eye surgery was one I made with some trepidation. From the first meeting at Optical Express Stoke to the lens replacement in Manchester and subsequent follows ups back in Stoke I have been very impressed with the level of service and friendliness of all involved. Any concerns and questions were answered and any fears allayed. 4 months on and I have just been discharged . Any fear about pain during surgery was misguided and nothing that a couple of ibuprofen and a good nights sleep ( even with eye shields ) couldn?t put right. Dryness was my biggest concern but I was given plenty of drops and advice to deal with this and it and is improving all the time. Driving at night was initially difficult due to the glare from headlights but again this is almost unnoticeable now. From someone who couldn?t see without going cross eyed without her glasses and everything was blurry and indistinguishable to someone who has typed this review on her iPhone without having to blow up the page is amazing. As many have said before one of the best decisions I?ve ever made . Thank You to all of the lovely staff for your help advice and care x

Having recently had multi focal lens replacement surgery,i had my initial assessment advice at the optical express Hanley clinic and now attending for my after care appointments. The treatment I'm receiving has been first class from the minute I walked through the door, from the manager Jasmine, and all her staff and optometrist who have answered my many questions and reassured me throughout, and I'm pleased to say the surgery was successful with my vision transformed, and my recovery which has been rapid,is consistent with the guidance given pre op.i would definitely recommend optical express to anyone considering this type of surgery.(Patrick)

I went for my first consultation in August 2021. I was a student nurse and was interested in getting laser eye surgery for around 2-3 years but wanted to wait till I finished my degree.I booked in to get LASEK with iDesign as I had thin corneas. I was worried about the healing process but I knew it would be worth it in the end. My surgery was at the Birmingham New Street branch in November 2021. On the day I met my surgeon before the procedure who spoke to me about all the risks and went through what would happen. Once we I signed consent for the surgery, I soon went into the room to get surgery. The two nurses in the surgical room were very sweet and friendly and helped calm me down before they started. I was very nervous.During the procedure I felt no pain, or discomfort as they numb your eyes. The procedure was very quick and they kept reassuring me throughout. Once the procedure was done they sat me up and walked me to the consulting room next door. They explained the healing process and what drops to use when and gave me a leaflet. I could see but it was hazy and blurry too. I was very light sensitive. On the way home, I slept as my eyes were very light sensitive and I wore sunglasses as I was told by the optician. When I got home I slept again for a few hours after putting in my drops. I woke up with my eyes feeling sore, and gritty. They were very uncomfortable and I kept my eyes closed predominantly for the first 48 hours. I had to call the helpline as it was extremely uncomfortable and they advised to use the lubricating drops more regularly. The third day was the worst for me, I was really uncomfortable, eyes felt extremely gritty and I could barely open my eyes.On the 4th day I went to get my contacts out but when I went, they said it was too early and it was actually my 3rd day. So there had been a mix up on the booking. I was a little annoyed to have made the trip from home to Birmingham to be told I couldn't get the contacts taken out so then it was a wasted trip. I was also originally told I could get the contacts out on Stoke but when it came closer to the appointment was called to say that was not possible as the optician was no longer able to come. This happened twice during the time from first consultation to surgery day. I was annoyed again because it meant I had to rearrange the travel arrangements and due to needing someone to come with me, meant I had to adjust my families plan yet another time.I went again on the following Monday to have the contacts removed and thankfully my eyes had healed enough. They gave me drops to take home and I was allowed to then come to stoke for my check ups.The time after having my contacts removed was a slow process. I had a lot of healing to do so did get fluctuating vision, blurriness, dry eyes, halos when driving, starbursts around light, and glares. These symptoms have since resolved. These symptoms were felt more while driving and especially while driving at night. The only symptom I now experience regularly is dryness. But with drops being supplied by Optical express its not the worst symptom to be dealing with.Following check ups were good at Stoke branch. Was able to find parking at John Street car park and was always quick with friendly staff. I was discharged after 2 months and told my next appointment would be a phone call in a months time to check everything was going well.I would do it again. Has made wearing a mask at work so much easier and with covid not going anywhere will probably be wearing them for a while. I would take the discomfort, gritty feeling, the pain, everything all over again to get the perfect eyesight I have now. Well worth the money!

Although my laser eye surgery had some complications, I cannot fault the amazing staff at Optical Express Hanley for the additional aftercare appointments that I needed. I would just strongly advise those who reside in Stoke against travelling to the Bridgewater Wellness Centre in Manchester for the actual surgery.

I went to the Stoke clinic for my consultation to see if I am suitable for eye surgery and I am already impressed by the high level of service. I am confident that my surgery is going to go smoothly and I will be well looked after.

From my first consultation visit at Optical Express I was made to feel very welcome. All the staff members were lovely and extremely friendly at the Hanley branch. The service they've provided has been outstanding. I had my operation at the Liverpool branch and have achieved better than 20/20 which I never thought possible. The post op everything went smoothly and was lovely to see how pleased everyone was for me with my results of the surgery.Would highly recommend!

I had a consultation with the team at Stoke, who were very professional. I have an uncle who is an optician, so my questions were very detailed, so I really tested the team. The team at Stoke answered all my questions which gave me a lot of confidence in their abilities. I will be going ahead with the lens replacement surgery ASAP.

I can't say enough good things about the stoke clinic. Very professional, friendly and clearly described every steps of the process. If you are considering surgery, then you should contact the clinic in stoke.

We've been for an initial consultation. We were treated exceptionally well and the staff were ever so polite and friendly. They were professional through and through and answered all our questions with complete openness and clarity. Premises are on the 2nd floor of a small tower block and are easy to find and it's very modern inside. Special mention to the great cup of tea and biscuits on arrival :-) I definitely recommend a visit here if you are thinking of having a discussion about types of eye surgery you may be considering. As for us, we will be going forward with this team once we have some dates.

Wow. I can?t believe it took me so long to have this procedure done. It?s miraculous, within minutes of the procedure being complete I had 20/20 vision. The service was great and everything went to plan. For anxious people maybe take something with you to do whilst waiting as it?s a couple of hours from when you are admitted to when you have the procedure. I wasn?t nervous at all it was just very excited so it was all good. Get your appointment booked, you won?t look back.
