Just had a very relaxing break here. The hotel, staff, food and location are absolutely perfect. This is our 6th stay at this hotel. The moment you walk in it feels like a second home.

Used to love this hotel but will not be staying there in the future.Like so many hotels since the pandemic they seem to make a virtue of accepting dogs. Basically they are saying people who do not like dogs or have allergies are not welcome. No matter how well the rooms are cleaned they cannot remove all trace of a dog having been in the rooms. So sad they consider animals more important than people.

Well, what can I say.....We stayed at this hotel on 20th Dec 2023 and loved it so much we stayed another night!A wonderfully adorned hotel with fantastic staff and fabulous service.A super room (No 20) with dual aspect views over the sea and beach.Michael and his team have a serious intent to make your stay a memorable one and they do not disappoint.I am a heavy critic of everywhere I go an I can not find anything to pull this hotel up on. The rooms were fab, the shower powerful and refreshing, the linen fresh and crispy. The breakfast table service is especially nice and very polite and welcoming.Yes, we will be back, many times and I love Geoffrey the GiraffeMichael you have a great team, you are a lovely man and we look forward to coming again very soon.Best wishesJod & Jo

Gr8 hotel in Aldeburgh. Air of nostalgia about the hotel, old fashioned but in a good way. Staff really friendly and welcoming, plenty of public areas to lounge in . Nice cosy bar and lovely dining room. Rooms a good size and nicely furnished. Lovely atmosphere throughout the whole building. Quiet, and understated. If you like chrome and modernity, this is probably not the place for you.

As I can not have dairy I was able to get an oat milk mocha, lovle fire to enjoy the warmth from, the guests were very happy to chat and most of all dog friendly.Walkability: You can walk to thorpeness or walk into aldeburgh and look round shops, walk along sea frontFood & drinks: The menu was very tempting, but was just in for hot drink this time, could not get a dairy free pudding, which surprised us,Noteworthy details: The view from the window, the paintings hanging on walls, politeness of staff,

Visited the bar/restaurant for a scone & tea, and the service was a complete disaster from start to finish.Staff veryunwelcoming.Chose the cheese scone and was offered either strawberry or cherry jam as accompaniments.Disappointed after wanting to visited here for ages, and finally visited for my birthday.Food & drinks: Awful!

Only came in to sample the restaurant, so cannot comment on the hotel as a whole. However, if the service reflects the attitude of the hotel as a whole, which I suspect it does, then I am hugely disappointed.A shame as the building is in great location, beautiful appearance and finished to a high standard.Terse telephone call made clear that there was NO choice when it came to the set menu afternoon tea, which required booking. If we wanted choice then we were unable to book, so we decided on walking in.An empty dining room and an atmosphere not unlike the overlook hotel from 'The Shining' greeted us, there was no one at the bar and the same terse receptionist who assured us there were menus on the table. Spoiler: there were not. After choosing we ordered at the reception two scones with chilli jam, a tea with oat milk and an americano.Unfortunately when it arrived we were informed there was no chilli jam, the only alternative offered was cherry, a bit odd on a savoury scone, we thought. We were told there would be NO reduction on the price despite not receiving what we ordered. Fine, these things happen, however absurd. The scones were tasteless, tiny and for the trifecta, quite raw and doughy.Perhaps some customer service training required, as the table next to us were in no uncertain terms told that their wrongly delivered order was in fact shortbread, not a teacake as they recalled they had ordered. Empty tables reminded uncleared and mistakenly cleared whilst people were still using them.Goodbye Wentworth, or should we say, goodbye Fawlty Towers - we cetainly shall not be back.

Absolutely brilliant hotel. Staff were faultless, clean and large rooms. Breakfast the best we have ever had, dinner stunning local crab :)

As there was no manager or such in front of house, I feel this is my only option to make people aware of the very slow and unfriendly service we received. We came for afternoon tea and sat outside. very few customers around at this time (afternoon tea time). We had to go in and ring for service. Gave our order and asked for table to be cleared which did not happen after asking twice. When asking for table to be cleared we were told that it would be done when they could. Very abrupt and dismissive. We then had to wait for over 30 minutes for one sandwich and one cream tea. Waiter was also very unhelpful about clearing table or advising us on when our food would arrive. No tables were cleared until food was delivered. Seagulls were landing on tables scattering things everywhere. Assuming short staffed, but that is no excuse for being dismissive and unfriendly, all that was needed was an apology, and if they were short staffed then tell us so and that food may take a little longer. There was not even an apology when food arrived. Good service is vital for us when eating out, and this Hotel severely lack this. Such a shame as a beautiful setting on the sea front.

Although we didn?t stay there this time we visited several times during our recent visit to Aldeburgh. Highly recommend the 3 course meal £30.50 and great choice of menu. Will hopefully visit again soon.
