We booked for a Mother's Day Sunday roast for our party of 11. Having eaten here before I was expecting a good meal with family. We had pre-booked our menu choices one week before as requested by the pub. Once we were seated at 2.30pm our dinner took over an hour to arrive. The food was stone cold - all of it! Not even barely warm and there was no red cabbage or cauliflower cheese. Some plates had parsnips some didn't and one member of our party didn't recieve her dinner until I complained to the manager at the bar because no one was around. We then waited another 10-15 mins for the missing dinner and vegetables to arrive. Thankfully this dinner was hot but the vegetables were again stone cold and looked as though someone had just poured a thin cheese sauce over the cauliflower and not baked it. I like rare beef but some of the beef was not even rare, it was completely raw and inedible! Not once did the manager or staff come to our table to check or apologise and neither were our tables cleared. Another table experienced exactly the same service and cold food as we did and like them we left and will not return. The manager did agree not to charge us or the other table for our food and we just paid for our drinks, but a family Mother's Day lunch was ruined as it was too late to go anywhere else so we left. Looking at some of the other reviews there is clearly a problem with how this establishment is managed if they cannot cope with Sunday roasts with pre-arranged menu choices.

Booked for 8 people at 12.45. We finally got our mains at 14.40 having complained twice. We were blamed because we had starters, which of course gave them extra time to prepare the mains! All mains were Sunday roast so nothing too demanding. The staff were lovely except the manager was not helpful. If you foul up, acknowledge your mistake, apologise, offer a free drink and nibbles and we would have been singing your praises. Don?t blame the customer because you messed up.

Disappointing experience. Good food but wait times are shocking. Had we known we would have got up and left. Not what we are used to. Sunday lunch took one hour and forty five mins to arrive for a party of five. We arrived at 12:45 and received our mains between 2:30pm and 2:45pm. The restaurant wasn?t particularly busy. Waitresses were apologetic, the gentleman acting as front of house, unapologetic. Visiting from Guernsey, Channel Islands.

I went in November with my friends and the roast and deserts were really lovely as was the service so I recommend this to my family and we went as a table of 8, unfortunately it was not the same the second time. Once seated it took 30 mins for us to be given menus, then another 20 mins to order. The manager was lovely and friendly when he took our order. When the food came which took a little while, the beef was undercooked - we like pink but this was extremely pink, there was so much fat on it as well, it looked like it hadn't been trimmed. The pork was dry and didn't have any real flavourWe were meant to get red cabbage and cauliflower cheese with all the roasts as well, we were given two small bowls of cauliflower between 6 roasts and no red cabbage. We were trying to get the attention of the waitresses to ask for the cabbage but they didn't come anywhere near us so we couldn't - normally you would be asked if your meal was OK or anything needed but we weren't. No one came back to our table till 20 mins after we'd finished our mains. For deserts there was 3 orders of sticky toffee pudding and chocolate and orange cremeux. When I went previously I had a chocolate and cherry cremeux which was delicious so I ordered this again, when I came out I couldn't believe the size of it, it was at least half the size of previous dessert but the same price. The sticky toffee was very dry and most didn't finish their portions. We rarely had a waitress come to the table and it felt like an inconvenience when they did, we had to ask for the bill 3 times before the bought it to us about 25 mins later - if they were really busy I'd understand but we were the only table in the restaurant. It was quiet in general so the lack of waitress follow ups didn't make sense. It's a shame as when we went before it was good food, the staff were friendly and attentive but this time it felt like we were an inconvenience and that they were getting rid of old food or there was an issue/staffing issue in the kitchen. I understand issues happen But when spending over £220 for Sunday lunch we expect a lot better.

Firstly, this has such a lovely country pub feel to it - especially in winter, with the fire lit (the fire smelled so nice). Spotlessly clean, lovely decor and comfy seating. Had an excellent glass of red wine at a reasonable price. The menu selection was good, but there weren?t nearly enough vegetables - either as part of the mains or available as sides. That was a bit of a letdown, as I like meals to feel balanced - especially when eating out. Our mains were cooked very well. Dessert was a bit underwhelming. Could be an absolute gem with a few tweaks and I?ll visit again.

We went here for Sunday lunch, this was our first experience of the Plough Inn and what an experience we had, excellent food, fantastic service (nothing was too much trouble). We will definitely be coming back.

Return visit after venue has been taken over and revamped. Excellent Sunday lunch, yes at the higher end but worth the money spent. Still a Character pub, with a friendly atmosphere and staff. A work in process but you can see the potential developing.

I?ve been visiting for years but their new refit is fantastic. It looks fresh, the seating areas are thought out and comfortable. The outdoor area is spacious and well-lit. I love the big green area between the seating area and a horse paddock - it kept my kids very well entertained. The food has really been upgraded from good pub food to the next level. I plan to visit a lot more to try out their pizza night and more dishes from their improved menu. The service we received was great, the chap had a fun personality and couldn?t do more to make sure we had a good meal.Highly recommend.Food & drinks: Fresh, delicious, great choice.

End of summer hols treat - we visited here on a Thursday lunchtime. It was quiet so we had plenty of choice of places to sit - we opted for indoors. The decor is modern with a traditional twist - really lovely.Good choice of gins - I opted for a Berkshire Rhubarb & Raspberry. We ordered our meal and the starters arrived quickly. There was a mix up with our main course - but it was sorted quickly.Food was lovely and we would definitely visit again.
