Wide selection of books, with lots of university stuff, especially given its location next to student housing.

This used to be a bustling little shop when I was a student, full of bargains and always a pleasure to donate. Sadly, like many other reviewers have said, it seems to have abandoned its past popularity in order to charge exorbitant prices for almost all books, records and dvds. Consequently the shop has become empty and soulless - there are generally more staff than customers. A shame that Oxfam have let greed ruin what was once one of the best charity shops in Newcastle - i fear that with the effects of the pandemic on shopping habits and the economy, this shop won't last much longer.

Great, you can buy a very cheap book for 2 pounds and then you return it and they give you money to buy another one

Good range of DVDs/Blu-ray discs and fairly wide selection of books, so you'll probably find something here of interest. However, it must be said that many items are overpriced and can often be bought considerably considerably cheaper online. DVDs/Blu-ray discs are also more expensive here than at other local charity shops and even nearby branches of Oxfam, which.one could hardly say was a shining example of fair trade.

Having lived in Jesmond over 10 years this was rather a good little shop, however price are now extorcianate, unless its a standard paperback (generally a coffee stained mess). I now only browse and buy online as its cheaper, only a few weeks ago staff stated they where having to lower prices to fall in-line with retailers, for a charity shop i think thats disgusting! i understand they want to get as much as they can for the charity but their more expensive than dealers, e.g.. last week i overheard the manager stating a certain book must be priced wrong as it LOOKS like its worth more, up from £3.49 to £19.99 without even checking after the item has been there for a few months unsold rather than lowering prices they just get removed. even the collectable books are cheaper on Abesbooks. also the book in question was £4.99 on Ebay. i have also noticed books from other local charities turning up at marked up prices (only a few). i used to enjoy this shop as others have stated, it has a music room which again cd prices are fine but the vinyl is hiked up at collectors value, however the condition is generally not good. Anyway i used to spend roughly £50 every couple of weeks in this shop and get a quite few good books, now if i did that i would come away with 2 or 3. i have more examples but i would be here all day.
Its a shame!

Nice charity shop that stocks sheet music and classical CDs. Parking can sometimes be a pain but in nice area with other pleasant shops and cafes nearby.
