“Lovely staff, excellent frozen section - and they sell a jar of Guinness paste to add to casseroles or brush onto steaks and chicken that I can highly recommend ?”

“This store definitely deserves the five stars I have given the branch of Home Bargains in Blandford Street, Sunderland. The staff are so lovely and helpful they will do their very best to help you find an item and also inform you of the Special Offers currently on sale. The girls are always mega busy but they always have a smile on their face no matter what. I really enjoy going into the store as it’s always a pleasure, never a chore. Well done ladies. You certainly deserve the 5 stars!!Shirley Morse”

“Friendly helpful staff. If you dont know where, something is just ask. They will point you in the right direction. A good selection of frozen food as well as fresh and tinned goods. Not expensive. A lot packed into a, small space.”

“The store offers a wide range of affordable products, and I appreciate their commitment to keeping prices low. The staff was friendly and helpful during my visits. However, one suggestion for improvement would be to introduce self-service checkouts, which could help reduce the occasional crowding at the regular counters. Overall, LIDL provides good value for money and a convenient shopping experience, with the potential for even greater convenience with self-service checkouts.”

“This store chain probably suffers because the name is indelibly linked with freezer food. While it's still not the shop you would go to for fresh vegetables and fruit, on a recent visit for minced beef I was also able to buy prepacked cheese, snack food and beverages. The staff is courteous and helpful. I'll be going again in future.”

“I love the Sainsbury's and I love the deals using the smart scan app. My young boys love going up and down the travelators and they have a big choice in this store. It's never too busy or overcrowded. The petrol is normally one of the cheapest in town.”

“Great shop and if you sign up for a free nectar card the prices are even cheaper. Staff are very friendly and helpful as well as making sure everything is clean and looks presentable. Only criticism is the self-service checkouts sometimes have issues but that is it in a brilliant location as well.”

“The staff are great and not everything is frozen fresh produce is available and loads of offers. Easy parking for disabled customers and they have a reward scheme too.”

“The Iceland store in Sunderland offers a decent shopping experience, with a good selection of groceries and essential items. While the store certainly has its merits, it does display signs of being somewhat dated. One of the standout features of the Iceland Sunderland store is the wide variety of frozen foods available. From frozen vegetables to ready-to-cook meals, the store caters to those looking for convenient and affordable options. The prices are generally reasonable, making it a budget-friendly choice for many shoppers. However, it's hard to overlook the fact that the store's interior and layout feel a bit outdated. The decor and shelving appear to have remained largely unchanged for some time, giving the store a somewhat tired and worn appearance. This can affect the overall shopping experience, as a more modern and organized layout could enhance customer comfort and navigation.Additionally, the store's checkout area seems to lack the efficiency and technology seen in newer supermarkets. The absence of self-checkout kiosks or contactless payment options can lead to longer wait times, especially during peak hours.Despite these dated aspects, the Iceland Sunderland store remains a reliable option for grocery shopping in the area. The diverse frozen food selection and competitive pricing make it a valuable resource for customers seeking affordable meal solutions. However, an update to the store's interior and technology could certainly elevate the overall shopping experience.”

“My favourite supermarket to shop in - especially love the special buys, but you have to get in quick to catch them! The recent refurbishment means there is a lot more choice now too.The store can be extremely busy and can feel very overwhelming, so recommend going for opening or an hour or so before closing for a more relaxing experience.”

“Smaller of the stores in Sunderland, stocks a good range but bakery and some shelves are often empty if you get there after the rush. Quite often queues at tills and not enough staff, at busy times, but the staff are very quick at what they do. Unless you only have one or two items I would avoid self service. It was always cheaper than other supermarkets. I've noticed really significant price hikes over the last year (2023), but they seem to be very quickly dropping the prices as energy costs and so on come down.”

“There's quite a few shops there,a cafe in Dunelm which is very nice. A charity shop if people are interested in these kind of shops. A toy shop, and card factory and Costa coffee.”

“Iceland is a very lovely supermarket to shop. You can easily get all your household stuff at once and all their goods are affordable. The staff at their pay-points are so smart and friendly.”

3.9Good42 Reviews

“It's ok as long as you appreciate it's a small store with limited warehousing and varying stock levels and you can be flexible about what you're shopping for. Less good if you want or need specific items they may have run out of”

3.8Good61 Reviews

“The staff make the place - absolute credit to the company, I pass 2 other shops and go there. Always happy and polite, if you need a hand finding something they'll take you over and show you where things are and they let you know if something's on offer too so you don't miss saving a few quid.”
