Dreadful meal....Possibly the worst Indian take-away meal I have ever experienced, Just over £80, for a meal for 4, the food was literally inedible. My, so-called, tandoori Mixed Grill (one of my usual favourites), was a mixture of dried-out, hard meats, covered in a slimy brown/red sauce, served in the sort of 'jiffy bag', one would usually expect a Nan Bread top be served...The rest of the dishes were equally disgusting!...I should have been suspicious, when I ordered the meal, as at that time (6.45pm), we were the only customers in the retaurant..!

Can?t fault this place. The family box deal they do is amazing, great value enough for 3-4 people. Must try and very quick delivery. Highly recommended

FIRST Complaint sent through Messenger = Spice Lounge read it then blocked me: Good morning. my wife and I dined with you last night but had such a poor experience that I wish to complain now. I appreciate that nobody likes to receive complaints but I sincerely hope you will recognise our experience and be able to use the feedback to improve. That said, I have to be totally clear: we choose to come to Spice Lounge because of the positive posts we have seen on Facebook recently but it was one of the worst experiences and meals we can recall having. Being totally frank, I really resent the £45 that we paid. We spent our date night, and not a small amount of money in the current financial climate, with you and although I can't prove my current stomach ache is linked to our meal we are both displeased enough to request that we are refunded at least some of this amount. As briefly as I can, our experience included: *arrived at 17:35 but sign was "closed" and door locked although there were staff / family sat down on phones inside *we were let in but not welcomed particularly and, especially as three people moved tins of paint in the front part of the room, rather felt we were an inconvenience *the manager was wearing sports wear and sliders, and wasnt particularly attentive, especially as he tried to juggle our order, drinks and the telephone *the meal was not the quality that we would expect, or think is acceptable - the curry had the feel that perhaps the chicken had been cooked separately to the sauce and then added in. My wife thought the cauliflower side was off but I preferred it to the incredibly salty aubergine side *the manager left (to do deliveries) and a waitress appeared. she was attentive and gave a much better impression than the manager however she was completely overwhelmed by the amount of work to do. not her fault at all but as her colleague had rung in sick (we overheard) then surely another person might have stepped in to support? *our meal took a long time to arrive but nowhere near as long as the poor Dutch family behind us who had still not been served when we left! *a couple with a young child sat to eat. they appeared to be regulars. the child kicked a football across the restaurant, banged cutlery, stood on seating and put his shoes on the table. none of this was addressed by your staff (what staff?!) and this disruption added to ruining our date night. *we waited 15 or 20 minutes to pay for the meal, along with a growing queue of people, with no staff to be seen at all ... until we left a note and number in order to pay by telephone later on. I have an unavoidable commitment this morning but the current stomach ache (linked to the amount of salt in the aubergine side perhaps) indicates the meal has spoilt more than just our date night. *No response but Spice Lounge blocked me SECOND Complaint through my wife's FB Messenger = Spice Lounge read it but no response in over 48 hours: I am really disappointed not to have heard from you, still. I have just telephoned and spoken to the gentleman who seated us for our meal on Friday. He made it clear that I should have telephoned the General Manager / Owner directly instead of posting on Trip Advisor. How could I possibly know who the General Manager is, or how to get hold of them, when there was no member of staff present to serve or to accept payment. We waited for 15 to 20 minutes to pay but there was no-one but customers present. I did complain directly to the waitrose who telephoned for payment but this appears to have fallen on deaf ears. After listing our complaints I paid in full ... with hindsight perhaps I shouldn't have. This evening I have discovered that Spice Lounge has blocked me on Facebook ... and that, according to the gentleman on the phone, your opening hours are not 5.30pm as indicated on Google (and confirmed by the gent when he admitted us at 5.35pm) but 6pm for dining-in customers. It is a shame this wasnt mentioned on Friday when we asked if Spice Lounge was open. I remind you that we were not the only ones

Worst meal we had in a very long time. We arrived at 5:35pm , the place opens at 5:30pm. The door was still locked so we weren't sure the place is open. A guy opened the door but it somehow felt that we are a hindrance rather than guests. He showed us to a table. Given we were the first and only customers our two curry orders took nearly an hour. The only way I can describe my korma and my partner's tika masala is - edible. The young man who served us and took our order disappeared and a young waitress came in. She checked with us and another table. She was busy as she was the only one serving. More people arrived. A family with a young child who was running around the restaurant like crazy, playing football indoors, banging cutlery on the table like a good drumming session and mum totally unphased and letting him be wild. People arrived to pick up takeaways and the young waitress is running up and down the stairs for the food, totalling up bills and serving drinks all by herself. We finished our meal and, as the child was at large and we didn't feel like a relaxing night we wanted to leave. We joined the queue of people wanting to pay. After 20 minutes of waiting, my partner wrote our number down with a note and we left. We have since paid for our meal over the phone but rest assured we will not be going back.

Although the rating on Trip Advisor was promising, all in all the experience was very disappointing. We had to wait 75 mins and still no meals. In the meanwhile take away customers were being helped. After making complains finally we got our meals. The waitress did not even know what she was serving.

Visited Spice Lounge whilst visiting the area with my little family for the summer break. Decided to dine in and I must say this place did not disappoint! The staff were so friendly, our poppadoms and drinks were brought over to us very quickly. The meals were absolutely delicious, we tried meals we haven?t even had before and we were all very satisfied. The staff and management came over to us to see if we were ok and how the food was. Customer service and food quality was just great. I highly recommend this place and will definitely visit when we decide to come back to the area!

Hello I ordered a family box last night and can I just say that it was the best Indian I?ve had in years! It wasn?t greasy or oily at all! The onion bhagi?s was incredible! Massive value for money and delicious food! Will definitely be ordering again! Cheers!

Visited Spice Lounge last night for their new box meals and I was not disappointed. The quality was delicious and received so many varieties for just £21! Definitely the best Indian in Abergavenny!

i ordered a takeaway from spice lounge today and i?ve got to say i?m impressed with their new family box. the price is amazing for the quality and quantity of food. it?s a definite recommendation to all to try out this meal. 2 starters 2 mains 2 rice 1 side nan plus popadoms and dips amazing value £21.95. i?ll be definitely buying another takeaway soon.

Food was mediocre, the plates and glasses were obviously dirty and not thoroughly cleaned. the waitress who served me was lush but the atmosphere itself was dim. wouldn't recommend.

Me and my partner came here for food last week and had a lovely meal. walked through the door where we were welcomed by a young lady behind the bar who was super welcoming! showed us to our seats and couldn?t do enough for us the whole night! The food was absolutely delicious. Food The food itself was amazing and cooked just how we liked it. Me and my partner go out for food a lot and this has to be one of the places that?s up in our top 10! the wait on food was a little longer than expected due to they had a lot of takeaways but it was worth the wait. the onion bhajis were incredible. My partner had a Chicken Tikka and wouldn?t stop talking about it for the next 2 days! We really recommend the food here as we honestly loved it and it?s such a good price for what you pay for! if not it?s to cheap. I feel sorry for this place as they have new management and is struck off from the reputation because of who last ran it. ITS REALLY LOVELY!! the food is NOT bad and rather splendid actually we thoroughly enjoyed it. They didn?t have one of the starters that we had ordered BUT they replaced it with a new dish that neither me or my partner had tried before and it was lovely, they let us know that it was being changed before giving it to us and gave it to us for free aswel. The food had a lot of taste to it and was still hot when it got to us where we were also given hot plates for the food to be put on. Staff working The staff were amazing to us and we felt like a priority where you don?t always feel in restaurants. The owner came down asked if we were okay and if he could get us anything else whilst also helping Girl (2) deliver the food and making sure that Lady (1) was all okay downstairs. The lady behind the bar (1) greeted us, sat us down, asked if we would like poppadoms and a chutney tray and took our food and drinks order and had everything to us in no time. The other young girl working (2) delivered us our food and made sure that everything was okay and that we had everything we wanted. Lady 1 ran around after everyone all night to the point where we even told her to take a break as we had watched her from pouring drinks to running up and down the stairs 25 times within 5 minutes and doing everything for the customers! whilst also having a moany woman complaining at her for her takeaway taking to long. As anyone would lady 1 told the moany woman that she is 15 minutes early but will tell upstairs to hurry up the order up for her (which we thought was generous) and asked if she could get the woman waiting anything whilst she waits, but the lady kept moaning and lady 1 dealt with it very calmly, watching how the lady was speaking to lady 1 we were surprised how calmly Lady 1 handled it as this woman moaning wouldn?t stop shouting at her. Girl 2 came down and asked if everything was alright and if there was anything that she could do whilst also checking up on lady 1 . Girl 2 seemed to help out as much as she could downstairs whilst helping up stairs and delivering the food to customers dining in and takeaways she too was a charm and very lovely to speak to. As we asked for our bill lady 1 told us that she would price it up for us straight away, as she was pricing up Girl 2 came back downstairs and lady 1 showed her how to add it all up and take the bills (new people i think) . This doesn?t seem like much but this caught our eye! it was lovely seeing girls work together instead of against each other like in other restaurants. It made it feel like a friendly place to be. we?ve came here a few times for takeaways and don?t think that we had ever seen these girls before but they were a pleasure to have around helping us! Inside the restaurant The restaurant is decorated delicately but isn?t actually bad! it had some lovely touches to it and was set out to the point that we have just enough space. It felt like a very clean place to go and eat at. As soon as people had finished eating there was always someone straight to the table cleaning it and resetting it which was lovely to not have to have dirty plates and cups around you

food was delicious to say. none the less, that doesn?t mean it came at a expensive price as i was quite pleased with the low price of high end food. i had the best chicken tikka of my life i?ll definitely be going back for more soon. the staff were extremely friendly having jokes with the customers and even the owner would come to check up on the customers from time to time which many other owners wouldn?t care about. so he puts a lot of care into his work of his restaurant. the interior design is exquisite. i went with my friends and we all gave the food a 10/10 our compliments to the chef. will be coming back here soon for more of this delicious food.
