From the moment you first walk into Reception of the consultation suite at the North Wales Eye Specialist Centre you experience an atmosphere of calm, and this was evident in all the staff I met both for consultation and surgical visits. The layout, decoration, furnishing & lack of background music contribute to this. The necessary steps in the consultation process from the appropriate tests to the consultation with the Ophthalmologist, (Mrs Mathews in my case), happen seamlessly and in a timely manner. On the first floor, the theatre suite layout, decoration and furnishings are similar to the consultation suite downstairs ? a nice little psychological touch at a time of potential trepidation and anxiety when the patient is facing imminent surgery. I can only speak of cataract surgery experience, but on each of my two visits I was in the building for barely one hour. The calm efficiency of the surgical procedure on the day, from reception through pre-surgical prep to the surgery itself, will help to steady the nerves of the most anxious of patients. For my consultation, surgical and follow up visits I can best describe the experience as ?friendly professionalism?.

One Cataract has been done! It was an 'interesting' experience, not painful but very slightly uncomfortable. After they had prepared me and the surgeon started the procedure, I asked him what he was doing, he then gave me a running commentary on the process. This began with a 2.75 mm cut, through which the entire operation took place. I could see through the eye and was seeing three blurry lights, which were the lights on the end of the microscope. The display of surges and squiggles appeared around this, in black and white, which corresponded with the commentary I was receiving. If you are one of those going to have this procedure, I would recommend the commentary as although it sounds pretty horrific, it does take your mind off of what is happening, as you are processing what he is saying. It is difficult to say how long the work took, but I doubt it was more than a few minutes. The following morning, I removed the Perspex eyepatch, and I am seeing very well close up, which is what the consultant and I decided. Having worn glasses since I was 16, I did not like the thought, strange as it may sound, of not wearing them! As shortsightedness is so instrumental in my work, the lenses inserted will be for that function, and the use of prescription glasses will correct my distant vision.Having since spoken to an optician friend of mine, she was surprised that I was able to receive the commentary as the procedure needs so much concentration that not all Ophthalmologists are prepared to do it.I wrote the above article on 6th January for my followers on my business Facebook page. I have now had the second procedure (20/01/24), which was equally successful.Fantastic results, close-up sight is perfect, and I think it will not need a strong prescription to correct my distance vision.

I can't praise the experience enough from Sharon the receptionist making me feel welcome from the start as well as the rest of the teams professionalism all the way through. My surgery was performed by Mr Cazabon who explained the procedure and following my post op appointment I am ready to go. I feel like I am back on track - Thank you!!

Absolutely recommend their services. Vision was slowly worsening due to cataracts in both eyes. Had both eyes done and they are now as good as new. Consultation and subsequent procedures were painless and actually quite an enjoyable experience. All staff at all times were extremely professional and helpful. Thank you Mrs Matthews and your Team.

Excellent service, took my 88 year old mother here this morning as she had a slight clouded area on her right eye after cataract removal two years ago. NHS waiting list is 2-3 years so we decided to check here. Well worth the payment for all inclusive consultation and laser done in 20 minutes. Immaculate and calming waiting room with lovely receptionist offering drinks. Sat nav sends you to the medical centre behind Boots pharmacy. Turn right opposite Boots to the Business centre, first right then first left it?s on the left side. Thank you for today.
