I stayed at Mount Rooms Hotel 4th - 8th September as part of my weeklong holiday to Barry. I arrived early and was greeted by Jacob who was really polite, and he let me store my suitcase before check-in. I arrived back later, and the check-in was smooth and simple, with clear instructions on how to find the room, breakfast etc. I stayed in room 12, which was nicely furnished throughout and was quite spacious! the only issue with the room I had was that the shower was boiling and didn't know how to turn it down, after many tries, I gave up and showered at a friend's. I was out of the hotel between 7am - 9.30pm so didn't really have time to tell the staff about the shower and t. I have read reviews of excessive noise, but my stay was really pleasant and quiet. The main member of staff I had interactions with was Jacob, who went out of his way to make sure that I was comfortable, including making an instant coffee when the barista machine was out of order. He was polite, friendly, helpful and professional. He noticed a child wonder into the bistro unattended and helped the child back to his parents. I just want to thank him for his help that day, he is a real asset to mount rooms. This was my first visit to Wales, and I definitely plan on coming back again in the near future so will use Mount Rooms again.

Central Hotel with very friendly reception staff and rooms were clean and ok for couple nts. The foyer and reception are very boutique plush style and def create a good first impression we had 2 x small doubles they r basic only 4ft bed no aircon snd no fan on hottest w, e of year the heat was unbearable so we had 2 very sleepless nights especially as lots outside noise in early hrs with windows open! There is only bout 8 parking spaces for a big hotel after being out 4 a meal and not returning til 10 we had 2 drive around twice looking 4 parking and were 2 streets away other occasions we were lucky and got close by! The showers were good and towels big&fluffy hand-wash provided few tea/coffee sugars few mins walk to nice Wetherspoons & 5 mins drive to Barry Island

Was booked for a couple of days for a birthday. Room we got was very small. Bed not big enough for 2 people as was small double. Small double room to me is a smaller room not a small bed. The room smelt of damp soon as we walked in. We asked for an upgrade. We got offered upgrade for 1 night at a cost as second night there was no vacancies in the upgrade rooms. We didn?t even stay for one night. We looked at the bed the mattress and sheets. The headboard was filthy. The mattress was filthy and covered in yellow stains and so was the mattress cover. No sheet on the bed. 1 thin pillow each. Mattress had collapsed through numerous wear so no support. Needed throwing away. Window Isn?t even double glazed and the view was of a fence and what looked like a fire escape. We checked back out after about 2 hours after checking in. Breakfast £7 each for a sandwich. And have to pay extra for tea/coffee and if you want more tea/coffee in the bedroom you have to pay extra for that as well. We booked another hotel and when we told the receptionist about this place the reaction said it all (as is if to say. I know what you mean). Advised when we book again to book the bridal suite. Sorry but won?t ever go to the mount rooms again.

Stayed here for one night on a spontaneous visit to Barry for a seaside visit. Staff are all very welcoming, and our room was very clean and fresh. The prices are reasonable, it?s a couple of minutes walk to a whole street full of interesting shops, cafés , bars, WetherSpoons. The main seaside bit is about 10-15min walk away. Plenty of fast food places to eat locally. Small Sainsbury?s at the top of the road open til late.

Stayed before, it was ok for an easy night sleep. Great view of barry short walk to weatherspoons for dinner and breakfast. If it?s busy times then this spot is ok, shower not working but bath is ok, not much else to say, oh you can park out front if your reversing skills are ok.

On booking our two rooms a year ago, I asked if our two rooms could be close together as we are a family of 5 with teens and can?t all fit into one room. The hotel said yes. I requested this a second time a few months before our stay to make sure. I was told yes, they were close together. I emailed again a few weeks prior to our stay to check that it was still ok to have our two rooms close together. Again, I was told yes, not a problem. Upon checking into the hotel, we were allocated rooms 7 and 52. Not close at all, in fact, complete opposite ends of the hotel. They said there was a twin room near to our family room but that had already been allocated to another guest. So my forward planning was a waste of time. Having to constantly walk between the rooms, into the main lobby, past the bar and function rooms in our pyjamas several times a night to fetch items someone else needed was not fun. That leads me onto the next thing you are not made aware of when booking your stay; the function rooms. This hotel hosts functions regularly. We were informed at check-in that there was to be a party on the Saturday night but we shouldn?t be disturbed. As it happens, despite the music at the party blaring louder than an Ibiza nightclub, it wasn?t that particular party that disturbed us; more on that next! However, if you did happen to be staying in a room nearer to or above the function room, good luck getting any sleep! Onto the next noise issue. Our family room shared a wall with the hotel?s bistro. Not a problem as the bistro is only open during the day. However, it soon became clear that the empty bistro becomes a gathering place for hotel guests at night, who come in to use the tables and chairs, drink their own alcohol, socialise and make plenty of noise. I wouldn?t normally have a problem with anyone doing this and enjoying their holiday, but when there are spare function rooms with tables and chairs and a perfectly good bar area with tables and chairs in the lounge, why use the space right next to rooms with children trying to get to sleep? The Friday night was horrendous. A large group gathered in the bistro at around 10:30pm. They were extremely loud. By 11:45pm I was completely fed up and went to reception to ask if they could get them to stop as I had kids trying to sleep. The employee said they?d ask them to stop. By quarter past midnight however, the noise was still going on so I went back to reception to ask again if the rowdy guests could perhaps move to the empty function rooms to continue their fun so that my family could get some sleep ; we had an early start the next day. The employee simply said that he?d already asked them to keep it down. I said they were clearly ignoring that request, could he ask them again. He responded with the same - he?d already asked them! In the end I was at my wits end and had to loudly ask one of the guests to break it up myself! By our 4th night, I was completely exhausted as guests continued to use the empty bistro to get drunk, play music and get loud til late at night. Every day of our otherwise pleasant stay in Barry had been tarnished because I felt so exhausted with the lack of sleep. On the 4th night, yet again, I heard noise from a new set of guests through the wall start blaring at 8:30. By 9pm, I decided I wasn?t waiting until midnight this time as they clearly weren?t going anywhere and I was getting more and more stressed. I went to reception to ask if they could move to one of the 2 perfectly good and EMPTY function rooms or the perfectly good bar lounge rather than the room right next to a family room. At last a pair of wonderful young employees immediately agreed with me, said the guests should not be in the closed bistro and that they set out the chairs and tables in the empty function rooms for guests to use so as not to disturb others in neighbouring rooms! Finally, it was sorted, the noise stopped & the loud guests simply changed spaces to continue their fun. Why on earth don?t the hotel lock the bistro door at night when they know this happens? Or at least p

Arrived a bit dubious following the reviews, however this was a really pleasant surprise. The staff are lovely, really polite and helpful, the room was well laid out, clean and the bed was really comfy. There was a wedding party and obviously a bit noisy (congratulations!!) However the reception staff warned me and offered earplugs which was very honest. There is lots of street parking available outside by the hotel so parking wasn't a problem. Barry Island a 20 minute walk and shop and wetherspoon and shops nearby Overall a really good experience and would highly recommend

This was a last minute 2 night get away, cheap and cheerful and wasn't disappointed. The rooms are very basic and bathroom in need of makeover but it was clean, functional and fine for a cheap couple of days. Only one pillow each and that was ok but would've asked for additional pillows had we stayed longer. Kettle, cups and starter tea and coffee provided. Towels replaced daily. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. As mentioned, very basic but perfect for our short stay.

I booked this place for two nights for my parents. They told me that they were given just three teabags between them and one biscuit in the room for the whole of the two nights. When they asked if they could have a couple of tea bags on the second night, they were told that there was a 20p charge for each teabag, because "this is a budget hotel". I couldn't believe it and couldn't stop laughing. Unbelievable. Obviously the hotel are onto a money maker there. You shouldn't treat nice guests like that. The hotel is on a huge hill which isn't obvious and the details do not mention this. The car park is hard to get into as it's tiny and steep. Not great when you are taking someone with mobility issues. It seems that people who aren't staying park in the car park too. The roads around are hilly and rammed all the time and otherwise it's all double yellows so it's quite inaccessible. Another thing, where the ramp is for access, the hotel could do with painting a yellow grid in front to ensure that cars don't block access. My Dad could just about get through with his crutches but others may struggle. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean, but only a pillow each were given and the night staff chatted loudly outside on both nights. Also, only thin blind/curtains so could do with thicker ones, as light enters the room from very early morning.

Hotel was lovely, clean tidy and welcoming. On arrival, greeted by great reception member who made us feel welcome straight away. Explained where the room was etc and said if we have any problems, reception is manned 24/7. The Room, considering it was a king room was disappointing. As it was a hot day, the windows had been left wide open and the room had 4/5 flies flying around when we opened the door. The room was clean apart from that and very spacious. The bed was awful, every time you move, the springs were springing about and this led to both me and my partner suffering with bad backs for our stay. Obviously an issue before as there was a thick puffy sheet between the bed sheet and the mattress. The mattress needs changing. If we were staying longer than 2 nights, we would have complained. The shower was scolding hot and even by turning the mixer tap to allow as much cold as possible in, you couldn?t stand under it. Everything else in the bathroom was fine. Parking is hit and miss and don?t rely parking at the hotel itself, we had to park on adjoining roads for our entire stay which was fine. Not many city centre hotels have parking for the amount of rooms they offer. The bar facility was excellent and open until 1am. Hotel is about 20 minute walk from Barry island which is fine or you can drive, plenty of parking. Few tips for hotel. Provide more wardrobe hangers, provide 2 pillows as standard, change the mattress please, you need to look at the fire escape plan on the back of the door as the escape plan was for room 23 and we were in 47, sort the shower temperature out.

The staff at the hotel were all so warm and accommodating and made my short stay a very pleasant one. I booked a small double which was very clean but fairly basic and perhaps a little tired. Still, it had everything I needed. Two minor points for room 20: There aren?t many plug points and the ones available are awkward without a long charging cable as they?re high on the wall - perhaps a shelf or extension would be useful. I?d also like to suggest some privacy film on the window as it looks into a courtyard and into stairs which are used by visitors to the hotel, so felt a little exposed, but this wasn?t an issue as I was hardly there and kept the blind down otherwise. Overall I would happily stay here again.

Absolutely lovely staff great rooms comfy bed. I'm on the big side and the bath had plenty of room. Definitely worth more than the cost. Breakfast options are CLEARLY priced. Finding the negative reviews strange and wondering if it's by a competitor
