Stopped here today for lunch, what a great little place. Staff were so friendly and the food was lovely and wholesome. Well cooked and good size portions.Nothing was too much trouble for them. Would definitely return when we are in the area again. Thank you all??

Lovely little cafe. Just nipped in for a coffee. Nice selection of drinks. Also nice selection of cake if you like cake. We both had cappuccinos and packet of crisp. Seemed to have a cycle shop next door also.

Visited the town of Talybont-On-Usk about two weeks ago. Red haired older lady (think she was the owner) Was Very arrogant and rude, she was outside with a cigarette talking when I was waiting at the counter in the shop to be served. Lovely blonde girl came over from the cafe to serve me, very efficient even though she was rushed off her feet. This was then followed by a visit to the cafe the following day, I was served very quickly. Food was faultless. Both young girls were fantastic (one looked like the chef) just a shame about the owner, Let?s down the business. -2 stars due to suspected owner with the red hair.

The Village Hall is described as "Village Hub" and offers Loos. Not much good if the Hall is Locked... Still the Canalside Cafe came to the rescue. Excellent home made Flapjack and Fruitcake. The Americano looked suspect but was actually fine, with good flavour. Swift, friendly service. Cafe full of military personnel - awaiting posting to Ukraine? Amused that the Bus Shelter proudly proclaimed Talybont as, "Pows Village of the Year, 2003". Did no one else enter? And that was 19 years ago... Hayling Seagoon

Waited 10 minutes just to be served as the girl was busy putting spoons on saucers and writing notes down. Ordered 3 breakfasts all deep fried, greasy mushrooms, dirty tasting hash browns, cold bacon. Terrible coffee. One girl with pink hair had lovely customer service and was rushing around. The other couldn?t care less about anything. Probably the cafe?s only saving grace is it?s in a town with one cafe so there?s nothing to measure it against. I?d never eat here again.

Pop into store today and found this gem of a curry, Steve?s world of curries, it was very nice one of the best vegetarian curries I?ve had ? will definitely buy again.

My husband, myself and our dog Harvey visited the cafe on two consecutive days. The first day we had Mr Whippy ice creams. Delicious! Today we visited the Canal side café for an all day breakfast. Firstly may I say I was served by a young lady, who was so efficient, welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts arrived on our table quickly. My husband chose the Big Canal breakfast I had the normal. Well cooked and presented. All done with a cheery smile. We ate outside not because of the dog, but as it was such a lovely day. The staff informed me that dogs are welcome inside. We WILL be returning. Worth noting they close at 5pm.

Our family of 9 arrived 10.30am and steaming hot coffees and breakfast was served 10 minutes later! Excellent breakfast and service .

This place was our staple during our long weekend stay up the road. We are breakfast here and took sandwiches for our packed lunches. Wonderful team, so friendly and welcoming. Perfect menu/choice and food quality really good. We were made to feel really welcome, almost like locals! And the dog was fussed over too. Would definitely recommend.

We were cycling from our campsite in Pencelli and heading to the reservoir and decided to stop at the cafe to pick up a packed lunch. We had lovely sandwiches and a generous portion of cake at a reasonable price. Such a handy location right by the canal and would definitely recommend.

Went there last Saturday for a takeaway Coffee and Bacon roll. Honestly very disappointing. The roll was stale, bacon all fat. And the worse coffee i have ever bought. It was supposed to have been Cappuccino, it was awful cheap instant rubbish. This is a main tourist area, the quality just isnt good enough, absolute rubbish.
