Have been here now for lunch twice and dinner once. This review is of the dinner we had on Friday 15th December. 6 friends got together for a Christmas catch up. We were privileged to be the first to get a taste of their new menu and it didn?t disappoint. 3 of us had garlic mushrooms to start and they were absolutely delicious! My only reservation and it?s very personal is the sauce could have been thicker, it was more like a soup texture, but having said that, the taste was spot on! We then had 2 ducks, 2 pork?s and 2 butchers platters. The butchers platters were incredible! No dry meat and huge portions. The duck was cooked to perfection and my partner tells me the pork was excellent. Good choice of side dishes especially potato options. Double cooked chips and hassleback to name a few, me and one friend opted for the dauphinois and they were to die for! I cannot recommend this venue enough, exceptional value for money with no compromise on the quality of the produce. We are off to a service station for dinner seems a bit odd? But don?t let this put you off! This is Carmarthen?s hidden gem to my mind. Dress up and celebrate special occasions most definitely a thing to do. I was the only ?hero? in the group to attempt a dessert, crème brûlée which was incredible! The staff are so lovely and attentive. Looove Magda! There?s another guy and I?m annoyed I didn?t get his name to give him a shout out (next time). Full credit to the chef, again don?t know his name but will be leaving my partner of 20 years and marrying him soon so ?????. Thank you so much for your fantastic service and being such a welcoming place to go in Carmarthen. We?ve been waiting for you! Xxx

Do not be put off by the location of this place, I was really sceptical when my friends took me here and you enter through the garage shop door. The restaurant is really smart and well decorated. The staff are so attentive and friendly. We were the first to try the new menu and we werent dissapointed. The food is delicious and we loved the choice of potato options, the dauphiniose were insane. Everything we had was beautiful, big sizes but really reasonably priced including the bottles of wine. Its an hour drive for us, but we will be making the journey again. Top notch stuff. Love it. I think you need to invest in more signage externally about the restaurant as I have drove past several times and had no idea the restaurant existed. I think people expect a standard service station cafe which this is not!

I have recently been to Hollol Gymraeg on two occasions. I?ve had really tasty food both times and really enjoyed. Staff were lovely.

Excellent food, classy decor, fantastic views and reasonably priced. We?d particularly recommend the breakfasts! Our only criticism is the caricature style murals on the front of the building which really detract from the quality of the restaurant.

Have been here a few times for food and even tho service is slow it has always ended with good food. Today was definately not it's finest hour. Arrived 9.40am, greeted by a very pleasant member of staff who was obviously rushed off his feet. Sat down, had to ask for a menu, ask to order drinks, ask to order food. I was informed that our food order went in at 10.05. At 10.40am the breakfast arrived, some photos attached. I asked for scrambled egg on toast, and a large full english. Given that they only serve breakfast until 11.30 you would expect them to be able to serve the food quicker than 35mins.....I was shocked when my food was put in front of me....2 slices of dry toast with scrambled egg thrown on the side!!! My son's full english was accompanied by mouldy beans!!! Won't be making it a regular haunt....

A lovely lunch visit. Nicely decorated environment with beautiful views. Staff were prompt, friendly and helpful. Food was delicious with a good choice. It was more expensive than I would normally expect to pay for lunch, however it was nicer than most places I've eaten so didn't mind. They had a very good choice of desserts, varying from cakes, traditional puddings and ice cream sundaes. Children had children's meals and all enjoyed them. Would definitely return if passing. It is located in the petrol station off the dual carriegway, but don't let this put you off as it really is a hidden gem.

Randomly searched on maps for restaurants for breakfast on the way to Essex from Wales. Hollol Gymraeg came up, so we swerved across to turn right as per sat nav instructions but found ourselves in farmers' private grounds. He kindly sent us back the right way and said the restaurant was well worth a visit. Only his recommendation stopped us just carrying on. So upon our redirected second attempt, we were amazed to find this fab place behind a petrol station. We were given a lovely table with a view. Entertained and served by Ollie, who was great. Food was excellent. A great find. A bit of advance/ better sign posting wouldn't go amiss ( maybe we missed it?) but we are so glad we came back. Thanks

Wonderful views, great service from a young lady that speaks Welsh but really poor food today. Halloumi Burger (without the bun) came without any avocado or caramelised onions, a few salad leaves and one slice of tomato! The tiniest pot of coleslaw and the chips were not good either! They need to improve on the food and / or change the chef before they lose business! Definunot worth the money and not an experience I will repeat any time soon.

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch, very tasty though it was EXTREMELY noisy in the cafe and the music was far too loud. We had difficulty hearing each other talking!

Sunday lunch was really top notch, delicious, plenty of it, and good value wines by the glass, a good price, very good staff in what was a busy period, classic desserts, very good coffee, very enjoyable overall

On arrival for breakfast we were seated straight away and told there was a bit of a wait, we agreed to wait but it took over 30mins before they took our order for drinks and the waitress said she will be back in a minute to take the food order, approx 20 mins later she took the food order. Altogether we were there for 1hr 20 mins just to have breakfast, Very poorly organised. It?s said on the menu vine tomatoes end up with just half of tomato. I don?t eat eggs and there was no offer to replace with anything else. Had bed breakfast for less than the £12.75 charged and better service. I will say that the waitress were very apologetic .

The staff were very friendly, looks very new, clean, modern and the view was amazing. The food was absolutely beautiful! I had a ploughman?s; pretty much everything was home made, and tasted so fresh! Best tasting ploughmen?s I?ve ever had! To accompany it I had a white wine which was delicious too! It?s crazy to see how deceiving the place looks from afar as it?s hidden away but my gosh, definitely a hidden gem! Absolutely would recommend and will definitely be returning hopefully in the near future.

Disappointing having visited here on a few previous occasions and loved it?service was slow despite cafe not being very busy & other customers seemed to be all eating. One Staff seemed preoccupied with setting up a lunch table, I had to go up to req serving after around a 20 min wait. Requested for my hot drink to came with the food, it came about 5-10 mins before my meal. Not the usual as advertised homemade hash brown (I don?t like the frozen ones served that day) the sausage looked pale & undercooked which is quite unappetising & off putting with pork meat. No one asked if my meal was okay. I?m happy to pay the extra cost compared to other local cafes due to it being good quality ingredients, but it definitely wasn?t worth the money on this particular visit.

A gem hidden behind a filling station. The restaurant serves superb food by fantastic staff, with excellent customer service. If that were not enough, the overall ambience created is excellent, with countryside views from the restaurant. We went for lunch, and everything we experienced more than met our expectations following all the good reports that we had received from local people. We understand that the quality of the breakfasts is of an equally good standard, and we will be visiting again in the very near future.
