Bad for men - small mens section filled with brand new cheap chinese clothing for high prices. Can sometimes get some good video games in though.

If you are the kind of person who runs along to Waterstones the minute after Richard and Judy release a book club list then change your habits right now. I can pretty much guarantee that within a month of a book being bestowed the honour of some television related sticker, it will end up on the shelves here. So, if you are looking for good quality modern works of fiction that come with a recommendation, this is the place to come. Compared to other charity shops, the stuff here is expensive. But, the books here still smell like the printers, their spines are unbroken and they are generally unread past page twenty-four. If it's gifts you want, British Heart Foundation always have a reliable supply of new products, some more tasteful than others. They also stock an interesting selection of board games (but not if I've been there first). URBAN CHALLENGE: Find a Richard and Judy best-seller.

This charity shop is one among many along albany road. The shop sells charitable donations, for me that mean a rummage around the book section looking for something interesting. The red decor is a brand statement and in keeping with the British Heart Foundations colour scheme. As charity shops go this one is clean uncluttered and is more resembling a modern refurbished shop than a run down charity shop and makes for pleasant shopping. It's a good feeling knowing your purchase will make a contribution to a charity, so buy something.

The British heart foundation is a fantastic charity shop, it is full of your standard second hand goods such as clothing, toys, music and so much more. It also sells brand new goods at a lower price than you would find elsewhere. If you are a charity shop fan like me then Albany road is the place to hit for your bargains, this road contains about 8 of them, perfect if you want to save your energy as well as those pennies. I managed to purchase myself a children's mickey mouse retro jumper, but alas, no matter how much I tried to stretch it, it was just too small for me, in the end giving it up begrudgingly to my younger cousin. Not a good day. Make sure you get to Albany road to check out these fantastic shops, helping yourself and very good causes.

The British Heart Foundation is one of my favourite charity shops. This one is especially brilliant for the way it has managed to take on board the recent developments in charity shop running (as I have said before, pushed too far this can be the death of a charity shop) whilst still remaining loyal to its customer base. Most people who shop in charity shops are old; they don't want to be visually assaulted by lurid clothes and shoes. This shop is filled with lovely people, all of whom I think could be either my grannie or my friend, and they have a good range of stock too. I came in here and got some tea towels to make a Halloween costume but they were actually really good quality so we kept them for real use! The prices are great too.

A fairly good charity shop on Albany Road in the heart of studenty Roath. Stock isn't beautifully displayed but there are some bargains to be had and they often have big stacks of interesting old magazines for a few pence each. Good for vintage suitcases too.
