Stunning carvery, no queue & open till late!We had a late-in-the-day booking, 19;30. No queue when waiting for food, the food was great considering the length of time in which it was sat on the hot plates. Friendly staff. My go to!Parking: Easy, big, free parking lot. Plug your reg in the machine at the front desk.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance.

We arrived at the Toby Cavery, Llanishen on 2/1/24 around 18:15. We pre-booked our t 21will still have the festive menu on 2/1/24.When we arrived the staff told us that the beef (Cavery)is finished.we had a drink and then we went to have the main meal around 7pm. The chef advised us that they have got only Turkey left. We received a pathetic and poor service. They should reserve the food for pre-booked people. They should not have told us that they haven?t got the Cavery except Turkey. Most of us had just Turkey Cavery. Also just wanted to specify that we asked for water for drinking and the staff said they had not enough glasses for water. They said that they could provide us glasses from the pub. So we ourselves have to get the water and glasses from the bar and served the water. Is this service you provide to the customers? I never ever had such experience from any of the pubs or restaurants such treatment; Always provided drinking water. Here in Toby Cavery we had to serve the water to our group.I had Cavery from other places in Cardiff and Caerphilly. But this is the first time I had food from the Toby Cavery in Llanishen and it was a very bad experience. It was a very poor service and management. I will not come again here and I will not recommend to anyone. This is not the problem of staff there but this is a management issue.I am the group leader and my colleagues tried your food on 21/12/23 and they were very impressed. This is the reason we booked our tables in Toby Cavery in Llanishen, Cardiff. After all this happened they didn?t give us any discount apart from the BlueLightCard discount. They said they cannot give us anymore discount as they have already given the discount and their system won?t allow.Thank you Toby Cavery for your nice new year gift. Never expected this.

Booked Christmas day for 7. Table wasn't ready but that wasn't an issue for us, we were happy to wait in the bar. However, even though everything was pre booked we didn't get starters for a further 20mins after sitting down then 2 were missing and had to be asked for. Carvery as usual is beautiful and plenty of it. Desserts were lovely. Overall all guests enjoyed the meal.We didn't have any crackers on our table and as most tables didn't appear to have any, we didn't query this but found out later that we just didn't get given any. This was quite disappointing.

Carvery meat and veg was delicious and plentiful. Whitchurch Toby is very homely. Della, our server, was excellent. Highly recommend the place. Plus had opportunity to enter a raffle number 120.

Everything was fantastic about our visit. Servers were all brilliant, very polite and on the ball. Food was really nice, we went for the carvery. The only little issue we had was when the gravy bowls were empty however this was resolved fairly quickly.Parking: Type your vehicle registration when visiting.

We attended a family meal for 17 for 4:30 last Sunday. Table was still occupied by another group until after 5. Members of our group staggered going to the carvery as we had young children in the group. I joined the queue about 5:40, along with my vegetarian daughter who had been told there was a vegetarian option. After queuing for roughly 30 minutes, we reached the carvery to find that she needed to preorder a veggie option, so rather than wait even longer, she just had what veg was available, without gravy as the veggie gravy jug was empty. I had gammon ham which was okay, and lamb which I discovered was seriously undercooked. I gave up on ot as it was too chewy and still had blood coming out of it.The place was heaving, so it was obviously a case of cramming in as many people as possible in the run up to Christmas. As a result the service suffered and the food was poor. I've been there before and had a good meal but it does look as though quality has been sacrificed for quantity.Vegetarian options: Can't comment as there was a breakdown in staff communication which meant my daughter didn't have anything.

The staff & food were fantastic. It was really busy and my only issue was that all thedisabled parking spaces were taken. We were very lucky to find 2 spaces next to each other so we were abke to gain the room for wheelchair access.

Use to be set up a lot better few years ago last time I went there, the serving unit housing the food was in a different place against the back wall so it facing you when you first walked in, directly in front of you to the left a little from main door and the food looked very nice and presented quite well , but serving unit now move lot further to left on side and the way the vegetables and potatoes were presented and the mess around those serving bowls was not good to be honest and what was in the bowls looked like been there for hours but don?t think it had? Also I stood there I as no pea left in bowl I asked could u get peas please and he went away came back 5 mins later and said peas be 3 mins in this time my food I have on plate getting cold by min, I then turned to get gravy and none in the bowl either asked same lad could he get more gravy as four of us waited for it to come the queue is now backing up and not now moving, finally it arrives to the quote of sorry bout that but we busy we just had load of ticket order in?? that was 3rd time I?d heard that excuse in 10 mins mind, if I was in charge of the running of the food service it be in more of a system making sure that the food hot and fresh as it can be and the service area manned correctly, as one guy was carving and serving meats and Yorkshire puddings? and he also was the one in the end went and fetched the gravy bowl, apologising for wait before rushing back to his post?. I would have had at least one person assisting him there and keep the kitchen informed of what needed in plenty of time, and to keep the rotation of veg , potatoes and other items there as fresh and replaced as and when needed keeping the hot plate clean of spillages and clean of stray sprouts etc making this area very inviting and attractive to all customers using it. To me it was a shocking mess and food but up to standard, and definitely not worth the price that had pay for it, very disappointing and badly run no one in control and poor standard in all areas! Not one to complain but it needed organising and someone take charge of situation, if I was giving it a score for all areas, it would get scores of - for quality of service2 out 5, for food standard and display it get2 out 5 for and overall value for money and enjoyment 2 out 5! Sorry just honest and truthful, it was much better few years ago hopefully take this constructive criticism and improve there standards and put someone in charge that area and make sure standards hit top marks and don?t slip at any point!!

The staff were great all immensely friendly and helpful. Our table was ready for us on arrival. Our server was attentive although seemed rushed off his feet. The food was good.Although my began daughter had issues with her meal. It took a long time to come even though we ordered it way before we went up for our carvery. Then there was no began gravy. This came out 15 mins after she had plated up her food which was now cold and the gravy was grainy. The staff were great about it when I discussed the issue and removed her food from our bill. When paying the cracker treat vouchers did not work and the final bill was higher than it should've been because we ordered desserts based on them being a pound and this was not calculated at the end of the meal correctly due to the voucher not scanning.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and, for the £9.99 mid-week price, the food is incredibly good value. It IS clearly signed when you enter, but don't forget to enter the reg number of your car. The car park is operated by a private firm, and you'll get fined if you don't.

Have dined here numerous times with the food and service being excellent but my last trip has put me off from going again as I stupidly forgot to enter my car registration number on arrival and had a £60! fine for the error. My error but more emphasis/prompting needed on this task on arrival. P.s £100 if not paid within 14 days.Parking: Note: ENTER REGISTRATION NUMBER ON ARRIVAL OR IT COULD COST YOU £100.

Went yesterday, very busy.No gammon, no Yorkshire?s.Cauliflower & parsnips were undercooked.Rationed meat, rest of the food was pretty bland and not enough out for the amount of people who were there.Usually pretty good there, but will avoid going on a Sunday again?
