Popped in for a few items & to look at cakes/biscuits for Xmas.Bought 3 Make Your Own Colin the Caterpillar Cakes as Xmas Eve presents for my grandchildren - who made them with joy.Very pleased with my choiceNot overly busy on that day & paid at a self service card only till

A small store but has most of the essentials. But opening times are odd. Close at 6pm on weekdays, not ideal if you are working and 3pm on Sundays.

We recently visited this M&S Foodhall on a visit to Newport city centre.The shop is smaller than Foodhalls but still sells a variety of different foods (some of which are not readily available in other supermarkets) and everyday household essentials. There is also a very small bakery section at the rear of the store and a small freezer section too.We found the layout slightly confusing and found the stock here quite limited compared to other M&S Foodhalls we have visited. We much prefer the layout of the larger Foodhall in the M&S at Newport Retail Park and find they also offer a wider variety of products.Most standalone M&S Foodhalls we have visited usually include an M&S Cafe but as this is a smaller shop it doesn't have one. There are plenty of others cafes and coffee shops within a short walk of the shop (including one right nextdoor).We tend to use the M&S app's 'Scan & Shop' feature in Foodhalls so don't usually need to use the tills but were shocked to see they no longer had staffed tills in this shop and had replaced them all with self-service tills.

Manned checkouts have been removed, meaning the only facility left are self-service tills.

Convenient location and alright for picking up a few extra groceries as a supplement to my main shop but not enough manned tills. Only one member of staff at the checkout trying to resolve customer questions and queries. Not good enough and certainly not very inclusive. Self service check outs are not always easy to use and, at times, can cause confusion for the customer. A well established company like M&S should be able to afford to employ more staff to serve customers particularly during busy periods.

Approx four months back, a medium sized Chicken was £4:00.It was increased to £4:25 approx 6 - 7 weeks back. Went in there today, Friday 7th September, to purchase another medium size Chicken. It has been increased by a staggering £1:75 to £6:00. Many items have increased in price more than once but what a staggering price increase of £1:75EDIT:Having just raised the issue with M&S, the batch of Chickens in store were wrongly priced. I've been issued with a code for a £1:75p refund

Lovely little store for picking a few things up, instead of going to the larger main superstores.The staff were all lovely and helpful, but with only ONE WORKING TILL FOR CASH ONLY CUSTOMERS, the queue was utterly atrocious!Thankfully there was the one poor member of staff, to help us all, with the tills throwing up technical errors at the self service tills, it was incredibly frustrating!Plus it's certainly made me think twice about going there again, we need more manned tills, or more WORKING TILLS, instead of leaving so many self service tills - OUT OF ORDER that accept card and cash please!Come on M & S, you can do so much better than this...
