Comfy hotel, surprisingly easy for NEC despite the distance!, situated in the centre of the market town of Atherstone it is just off the A5.The B4114 will take you through Coleshill to the NEC in about half an hour on nice quiet country roads! The hotel is a15th century coaching inn with plenty of character, the rooms vary in size but are clean & tidy..the ones in the annexe have been freshly decorated. Dogs are allowed in the rooms (handy for Crufts) & they don't charge for dogs or increase prices when events are on!I saw the function room dressed for a wedding & it was very impressive. Food is really good with large portions too & at great prices!2024 update: Another great stay, well looked after- the run to the Nec trickier now as my satnav didn't recognise the new road layout after Coleshill but route easy enough, already booked for next year too!!

Good food at a good price and staff are very friendly. Service can be a bit slow but relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff make up for it. It's out go to restaurant when visiting family in the area. Car park is not for the faint hearted (or those that need lots of space to be able to park)Food & drinks: Food is good for the price, plenty to pick from

Food & drinks: Ordered Roast Beef, potatoes, vegetables stuffing and gravy. The meals arrived at the table within 15 mins, but were only just warm. There was one dish of vegetables, to share between two of us and they weren't freshly cooked. 2 thin pieces of beef were dry and hard to cut.The stuffing tasted uncooked, like boiled water had been added, but it hadn't seen the oven. Absolutely disgraceful. I returned the meal and the management refunded me.

We came for a meal after seeing that they had a good choice of gluten free items for my wife on the menu. Great food and very welcoming decor. The cosy restaurant area with a real flame fire, the Saddlery for afternoon tea, the long conservatory, the library lounge and the function rooms - all nicely designed and inviting. My wife thought her baked salmon with dill was one of the nicest meals she'd ever had and my seafood carbonara was to die for. Thank you

Stayed a few nights but were put in the annexe? Had to go up a flight of stairs through a door down a few stairs then up a very narrow flight of extremely steep stairs? The room consisted of a double bed, with side lockers, a stool and a kettle, but While having a drink in the main bar I paid for drinks and said to the young girl serving "put the change in the tip jar" she then turned to the other young girl and said "oh whoopee a big £1" and then laughed and said "actually a pound and five pence" i realise it wasn't very much but at that stage she had said "its card only" and I didn't have a credit card on me!! Having worked in bars from I was 15yrs old I was glad if any tip I received and I always ALWAYS said thank you very much, I never once made fun of anything I received!! Not a single member of staff asked how was our stay, or if we needed anything though we did ring and ask the night porter if I could have a few teabags, when we vacated the room the young lady at reception just said "oh checking out?? Took the key and just said Thank you??Place could do with the rooms being hoovered or even be carpet/flooringRooms: Could have done with being hoovered or carpet replaced and floorboards are really creakyWalkability: Plenty of bars and shops near byFood & drinks: Food was ok though one portion of mash for 2 people doesn't quite work
