Not very welcoming sraff even though they weren't busy, food ok, but place very tired now and actually felf quite dirty. Most disappointing thing was if you accepted the service charge you were wished a happy new year but if you didnt they never even said goodbye!

Travelled for over 2 hours to this venue as it was an anniversary gift. Quite disappointed with food and accessibility (toilets).Croque monsieur was very hard with burnt edges, couldn't eat some of it, had it been cooked correctly I'm sure it would have been delicious! Had pre booked 24 hours earlier but on arrival told mushrooms (part of one of the toasties were probably not available). Cake selection very poor. Were not given any choice re cakes. Message sent after confirmation when booking read that we could look forward to "cracking into a creme brulee" but we received sightly sticky cakes which I suspect were frozen but thawed on demand (2 plates with repeated cakes, felt should be more variety, realise obviously there were 2 of us but we would have cut and shared so a repeated plate didn't give much variety).Very disappointed and wouldn't really recommend on our personal experience due to lack of variety and standard of food. Price inflated for what we received (£17.99 pp). This was a gift which we were looking forward to and nothing like the advertised afternoon tea pictures on the website (I realise they offer a couple of types but this one I couldn't see featured and the gift voucher did not give any info as to the typical serving therefore obviously expecting something similar to that as shown).Wouldn't recommend this particular "traditional afternoon tea", if using the word "traditional' that would give the impression of a selection of cut sandwiches (not a toastie each) and selection of cakes and pastries with a pot of tea. I note, once at the venue, the menu stated "you pick the order" but we weren't given any options, the food was just placed before us. We weren't asked if we had any allergies or food intolerances-very important! We had travelled a long way and were very hungry so didn't complain at the time, also felt very conscious making a complaint in front of others.Toilets were dirty and not at all accessible; up steep stairs which were poorly lit and as I'm currently using a crutch I found this very difficult! Not what we had expected at all.In a nutshell felt this wasn't value for money unfortunately. Cafe Rouge I feel you could do better on this one.Sent from Outlook for Android

Came here with the wife and daughter whilst visiting Stratford. I haven't been to a cafe rouge in about 15-20 years and the menu has definitely got less french since then, I guess to cater to changing trends (there seemed to more burgers flying out of the kitchen than I had expected). Pretty sure I had steak tartare last time I went which was not on the menu. However they still do the classics: french onion soup, beef bourguignon and creme brulee which is what I went for. All very good. Service was also very good with friendly waiting staff. It wasn't that busy for a Friday night and im not sure why as other restaurants seemed to be pretty busy in town.

We visited for lunch on a fairly busy Saturday in late November. We had the fixed price lunch menu which is good value, but the drinks are expensive. £5.50 for a bottle of sparkling mineral water seems excessive to us. There is a nice atmosphere at the restaurant, but the accessible toilet needs some attention. The door handle is broken and the hand dryer does not work.

Booked table for 9 for festive mealVery long waitFlat drinks returnedTold there was one chef !!! Very busy and anticipated big wait but wasn?t worth waiting for . Absolutely awful processed main meal - totally under cooked sausage . Hard over cooked turkey. Frozen roast potatoes and sprouts - thin gravy undercooked parsnips and no cranberry sauce - left after disputing bill as meal inedible and extremely disappointing -

Hello, I am Spanish and I came to this restaurant through a tour and the truth is that it has been a success. It's a great place. The food is delicious, they have a vegetarian option and for all types of allergens. It's very, very good. Very good attention and very good service. The quiche was delicious, I loved it and the chocolate coulant with the scoop of ice cream was amazing, the best of all!I loved this place, if I go back to Stratford I will definitely go there.Thank you! I recommend it 100%.Vegetarian options: Perfect

Cafe Rouge is always a safe bet, unfortunately I think a couple of us chose wrong. The Steak, cooked lovely, the kids chicken, again lovely. The kids garlic bread was burnt, and the macaroni and cheese tasted more milky than cheesy. The burger just wasn?t nice, but I think this was down to my preferences and not the quality of food.Atmosphere and service was again nice, but things like forgetting a starter and straw meant that it?s impossible to score it higher.Value for money though was excellent, kids eating for free was a real bonus. And I would still recommend, but probably will just stick to the steak next time!
