I would have preferred not to have been writing this review, but I emailed the company and have had no answer. So here we are. Hopefully putting this in public might generate a change.First off, I have no complaints about the food (which was good) or the staff (who were helpful)The problem is the menu design and the way it is unusable for the visually impaired. The font is small and the description of the dishes is very faint. Had I been on my own I would have been in unable to orderThe really hard thing to take here is that it is so easy to fix, given 30 seconds of thought. Hold some large print versions. Or even just increase the font weight so we can take a picture and enlarge it (although that of course would exclude non phone users).Very disappointed all told

This place can be a hit or miss in terms of vibes, service, food and drink. My first time here 2 years ago I had a great experience having a full english, however my second and most recent time was a little underwhelming as the staff seemed uninterested, shokupan was dry, almost stale and coffee bitter.

Latte and cappuccino served cold. Mushroom on toast absolutely tasteless. Not worth the money at ALL! very upset with the quality and taste of food. Have been previously and the quality of food has plummeted.

Due to being a frequent travel through Birmingham, i have always been wanting to see what Yorks Cafe was offering (I only wanted something to drink since i had a huge breakfast).I was greeted with a wonderful server who asked if i had any special requests or allergies, before coming around to take my order. The atmosphere was a nice vintage look inside. Personally I do love that style of environment.Moving on, they have a large variety of food and drinks and i tried one of their special lattes which had turmeric, cinnamon and ginger. The taste was unique and i had nothing like it before. It definitely refreshed my pallet.Overall, i am very pleased with the coffee and the staff and will definitely have to revisit within the near future. Thank you so much for your service.

Coffee excellent, the front door however is awful. It doesn?t shut fully leaving anything but a warm and cosy atmosphere!Would come for a take away but can?t see myself sitting in again!

Loveeeeee the Arabian buttered eggs or the Turkish ones, obvs a little overpriced but that?s what you get for the location and it selling bouji drinks etc. I love delicious things and treating myself - this isn?t the kind of place you come if you?re sensible with money and happy with any brekky place - no shade to those people coz I WISH I was like that I?d be RICH. But this is a place with beetroot lattes & kombuchas you get the idea lol. You expect it to be more expensive than other places. The staff here are nice and you can bring your laptop provided you come early enough to find a table, which is one of the main reasons I come. They do £1 refills on filter coffee which is pretty good if you?re there working for a few hours . The food is pretty consistent here, ngl one time ages ago the poached eggs weren?t runny and I was internally fuming but too conflict avoidant to complain. Luckily nowadays whenever I go at least one of the eggs is runny and that?s enough for me. I?m so happy they?ve taken the Bengali fritters off the menu coz they weren?t good and they didn?t even seem surprised when I sent it back and got refunded so it must?ve been a repeat offending dish. I see the vision with the butter chicken French toast but I wish they?d bring back the old Fried chicken French toast with chillis and Japanese mayo so baddd. Can?t they bring that one back alongside the butter chicken one?Anyway big up the staff they?re always sweet and do a good job of managing a place that gets pretty busy from 12 with people queuing up to get a table.

Too greasy for our liking. We ordered two dishes, the house breakfast and the two chicken stuff, drawn by numerous positive online reviews to this restaurant. However, upon arrival, we were informed that the menu had changed, leaving us to navigate a new menu and new prices. The house breakfast (15£) featured toast so thinly sliced and deep-fried it resembled croutons more than bread. Unlike most other places, the sausage was overly soft, lacking in texture. The mushrooms and bacon were unremarkable, though the poached egg was delightful. It was disappointing to find only one enjoyable element in the dish. The 'two chicken' (14£) was overwhelmingly greasy. The thick toast was drenched in oil, making each bite akin to swallowing oil, and the chicken's thick batter encased dry meat, with the dipping sauce doing little to cut through the grease. The only saving grace was the refreshing pickles. On the bright side, the drinks met our expectations, with both the chai latte and flat white being satisfactory. The location is convenient and the decor pleasing. However, for those seeking a tasty brunch or mindful of their diet, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Delicious food and mocha and nice spot to work for a couple hours on Thursday morning before it got busy at lunch. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

Waited and waited in the entrance for about 10min waiters refused to recognise my existence even when I waved and called. Waiter looked at me straight in the face and kept walking to the other side. Is it so hard to do some sort of gesture to show a customer you know they are waiting and you?ll be there soon? Place was half empty at 10am on Friday. Not a way to serve people. Too long to wait for this awful service.

I needed a place to work in Birmingham and Yorks was perfect. I was able to set up a computer, drink a delicious flat white and nibble on a banana muffin without any problem. Staff seemed really friendly and it's well located, just by Birmingham New Street station.

Food wasn't that good, disappointed! Our food was warm & not hot !I ordered 2 poached eggs on 1 very small piece of sourbread toast with 2 tiny pieces bacon and my husband had mushrooms on 1 piece of sourbread toast and 2 hot drinks.I ordered a cappuccino - and it tasted, like a flat white. The cup size seemed small for a regular size. And a large cup of Mocha, that my husband had, was only medium sized. Not worth the money, we paid !They also take payment right after ordering and before receiving drinks, which I thought odd ?Maybe it's that way, but anyway it did seem a bit like mistrust.I was one, who felt robbed !
