I phone this bank in advance as we live an hour away and we were told no appointment booking was necessary. we turned up and were told we needed an appointment! absolutely infuriating and no apology from the cocky manageress. Avoid.

I went on holiday for 2 week. While I was away I check my account on line to make sure all my bills and mortgages are going out on time. Metro bank decided to block my account for checking my account online. Made several requests as it was causing me problems my mortgage would not be able to come out. They refused to communicate with me while I was out of UK and would have to go to my local bank when I am back to see if they will unblock my account

Do not bother with this bank. Joined a number of months ago for convenience of their opening hours which are generous. However lately there's been nothing but problems.If the computers go down, staff are slow to go into the manual protocols and can't even total up three cheques with the use of a calculator correctly! Very often the till receipt machine isn't working and a manual one is written.The real gripe however is with their so-called customer services. The staff sound tired and bored, requests for a manager call back go ignored, complaints are closed without discussion with you, a letter is mailed out & money put into your account as recompense none of which is remotely helpful.If you fail the security checks (I forgot to say my middle name) your card is instaneously blocked with no right to appeal. You're advised to go to the bank to unblock but not told what you need to take. Anytime you get transferred between departments you have to go through security again with either the end result being no one can tell you anything, no one can do anything and no one in authority will talk to you. This is not customer service, its appalling.Have written to CEO but not holding my breath. Only way to appeal complain to the ombudsman - really??Not sure the ease of opening hours is worth all the aggro.

I?ve been in 3-times in as many months. Each time a short queue with a long wait. On this occasion it took them over 35-minutes to simply unblock a card. In the modern era it?s absolutely painful to watch them tapping away, getting up, going away, coming back, tapping away (repeat). I joined Metro for apparent convenience but my experience as a customer over the past 6-months has generally been nothing but inconvenience.

First interaction with Metro Bank a few months ago, they have been absolutely spot on. Tom at the Solihull branch is the best account manager I have dealt with, by a mile. Long overdue a raise!

Came today with my wife to open bank account.After handing over my Lithuanian passport bank worker told me that my account will be sancioned because I was born in UKRAINE and they need to do some checks on me only because I was born in Ukraine.I told worker that I can't choose the place of my birth! And asked for passport back.I said I will come back when there's gonna be no DISCRIMINATION !0/10. I would give negative 10 if I could.

Walked in to open up an account and wasn't disappointed, even without photo id they were able to open an account for me, customer service was brilliant, Helen helped me from start to finish and was fantastic, very friendly staff.
