Recently had an MOT with these guys. Car failed the MOT and the quoted me £850 to do the essential repairs (not the advisories)I went home and google checked the price on the parts which were coming up at around £40 a piece. I then called the local garages and got a quote back at £295 all in parts and labour. Where did Halfords get there additional £550 mark up from? I booked in with the local garage who also undertook an MOT for me on the same day. The advisories that were picked up by Halfords Walsall were not picked up by the local garage?I also had an MOT with this same garage the year before and it passed with some advisories on break wear. I undertook no works on the car during the course of the year but these were not picked up again when having my MOT done by Halfords? they must have fixed themselves.I would never use this garage again and would not recommend them to anyone. Steer clear

Fraud service. I had an issue with TPMS of my E220. They just reset the warning sign, without actually replacing it. I told them it will come back but they said it won't. Apparently they would have charged the company for diagnostics etc through which I have got the warranty and if they had repaired/replaced it they would not get that muxh benefit . Complete waste of my time and money that I paid for taxi/child care etc ,I had to take a day off for this and still was at point zero.

My letter of complaint to Halfords:I am writing to make a formal complaint about the MOT tester A. ******* who conducted an MOT on my car on 13/10/2023.I had my car booked in for an MOT on the 13/10/2023 at 8:30am, my car failed the MOT on brake pads and emissions. However, this is not the issue I wish to complain about.I sourced brake pads over the weekend and decided to fit them on the 17th when the weather had cleared. When I went to undo the wheel nuts, they were extremely tight. Far tighter than the 110nm torque setting, at this point I knew that my wheels had been removed by the MOT tester and put back on without torquing them to specification. The wheel nuts were so tight that I could not break them free with my small breaker bar (when torqued to the correct spec, wheel nuts can easily be removed with my small breaker bar), I had to use a big breaker bar and when I used it, the bar began to bend. My big breaker bar does not bend unless the torque is over 400nm, this is far beyond specification for my wheels. When undoing the nuts two of them broke off inside the hub, this only happens when wheel nuts are torqued beyond specification, the wheel nuts are designed to slightly stretch when they reach their torque setting, so they produce enough clamping force to stay in place. If wheel nut are over torqued they will stretch to much and compromise the integrity of the wheel nuts themselves, hence why they broke off in the hub.I work in the automotive sector, and this is only done by amateur mechanics, professionals do not do this.My understanding of an MOT is that it is an inspection, and the MOT tester is not allowed to add or remove anything, my question is, why were the wheels removed when the inspection can clearly be carried out through the space between the spokes of the alloys? My complaint is:? My car is now unsafe to drive due to the actions taken by the MOT tester and I have not had the use of my car since the 17th.? Two of the wheel nuts are broken in the hub.? The rest of the wheel nuts have had their integrity compromised and need to be replaced.? The brake discs may now be warped due to overtightening of the wheel nuts.To rectify this, Halfords should:? Extract the broken wheel nuts from the hub. I want to be present when this is done to see if the work is carried out by a competent professional.? Provide new OEM wheel nuts to replace the compromised wheel nuts. I do not want Halfords to fit them, I will do this myself.? Replace brake discs and pads if any warping occurs with OEM. Again, I will carry out the work myself.? Book the retest of the MOT at a different branch, I also want to be present when the test is carried out.? Re-train your MOT tester on torque settings/clamping force and issue him with a torque wrench along with putting a secondary check in place so this does not happen again.? Halfords should recall customer cars that have been inspected by your MOT tester as more customers have been impacted.I have lost faith in the competence and professionalism of Halfords employees as this issue is an amateur mistake. Professional mechanics do not do this.I have not inspected the rear wheels but will do so as soon as I can and will follow up if any more issues are discovered.I will also be publishing this letter on Google reviews, so customers are aware of the incompetence of Halfords MOT testers.I understand you are required to formally respond to my complaint, I shall follow up this email if I do not hear back from you by 03/11/2023.I look forward to hearing from you.

I dread MOT time, as it is so uncertain as to what sort of bill you'll be landed with. I've had my car 6 months and hoped it would fly though the MOT, so I booked a service with the MOT test. Very friendly receptionist told me it should be ready by early afternoon which it was. Car passed the MOT so I didn't pay any more than the price when I booked online. I notice they secured my wheel trims with cable ties, a thoughtful gesture as they weren't secured before. The price is neither expensive or cheap. Just for the simplicity of booking and sorting out the MOT alone, I would recommend Halfords and will use them again.Oct 10th. Booked and paid online to have one of those complicated wipers replaced. Arrived a bit late, but no problem. Friendly staff right on the job and sorted in five minutes. I don't think a fiver to do a job you don't want to do yourself is out the way this day and age.

Booked an appointment for my car service a week ago and went to Halfords Autocentre Walsall all they said was they haven't got the time or we don't have the parts for your car.

Spent over £500 here on a service and MOT, 2 tyres and 2 new brake pads. By the time I got home, one of the tyres was flat because it was fitted with a faulty valve. After a couple of months of strange sounds when braking, I took my car to another garage to check and it turns out the brake pads were fitted incorrectly too. Steer clear because I?m not sure they know as much as they let on.Services: Tires
