Had superb advice and customer service from a lovely girl (sorry I didn't get her name) when shopping for our new coffee machine. I'd had poor service in the neighbouring store, so it was a refreshing experience and made me appreciate some good advise. Despite the machine we wanted not being in Stock we still bought it online from them because they were worth it.

John Lewis was recommended to us as being great for customer service and quality products. What can I say, how wrong our friends were.We bought an Estate table, matching benches and two easy chairs. Problems started before we had left the store. The sales assistant was rushing, and forgot to add on the assembly to be done on arrival, he then couldn't add it, neither did he explain that one of our orders he was placing was in fact on line. Neither did he ask if we were part of John Lewis loyalty card, as that would have given us points, as the transaction was in the region of £2.5k I was not happy when we left, and felt worried about our purchase, and the following week went back and spoke with customer services, who I found rather off hand. They were so unhelpful, and when I said we had come to John Lewis for a good seamless service, the colleague laughed, and said we had come to the wrong store for that. I asked about the loyalty card and the amount we had spent, but was basically told tough we cant do anything.I was very annoyed. We then went back again after a month to see if there was any news on expected delivery dates. This time we saw another colleague, so I was hoping it would be a better experience - it wasn't. This colleague couldn't find the order, and then was so unhelpful, so I asked to speak to the Manager. She said very loudly, and now shouting at me that they wouldn't tell me any different.I was so upset and angry that I lost my temper and shouted back at her, as I am deaf and felt intimidated by her behaviourI said all customers should know how awful John Lewis are.we saw who we thought was the Manager who apologised.Last week we went in to sort out delivery and as we were being seen the manager walked by. I said oh that's the manager to which the colleague said no its not she's just a helper over Christmas. Finally our goods were delivered. Unfortunately the assemblers would only do the table and not the rest of our furniture. It hadn't been added to their instructions to assemble That evening I looked at the table top and there were holes in it small ones, but noticeable. I rang up and got through to I believe the Indian call centre. Three days later a call came from the central complaints dept, who reimbursed us 25%Be very careful buying from John Lewis, ours is a memorable shopping experience for all the wrong reasons. We will never use them again

Very bad experience in store today. We went to the baby department to purchase an Icandy 7 pushchair bundle, with car seat and isofix base. Our purchase was worth over 1600 £ but the lady working there was unable to make the sell because she did not know how to do it. Useless and incompetent, she suggested to make an appointment with someone else because she doesn't know how to sell a bundle.Ridiculous!

Went into the store today to buy some fabric to recover our dinning chairs. Was served by Jeanette on curtains and fabric dept. She was so friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Thank you. We went away very impressed, went down stairs and bought another £60 of items. Well done Jeannette, down to her excellent customer services.

Just had some excellent customer service from the Chichester branch, bought a cordless vacuum from there, staff member was extremely helpful and very knowable, got the vacuum home but unfortunately she?d given us a slightly different model in error, rang the store who were very apologetic and so was the member of staff, went in the next day to swap the vacuum and was given a voucher for the drink and cake by way of an apology. You can?t beat John Lewis for service, quality and beautiful products, we particularly like getting our electrical goods from there, their prices are competitive and their buyers always pick the best quality products within a given price range. Just wish the Chichester branch was bigger and had clothes as well.

There always seems to be a lot of staff around but nobody ever wants to offer help.I find this especially strange when shopping electricals as customers cannot help themselves as stock is clearly kept away from the shop floor.I often browse in store then buy online as I do not want to trouble the staff with a purchase.

We had an issue on Maxi Cosi isofix base for baby car seat. Went to John Lewis Chichester. Ellie helped us and took care of the issue very closely. She did everything as much as she can to solve the problem. She was really helpful. Thanks Ellie and all John Lewis staff.

Great staff. Very helpfull and assisted with all the questions I had about a coffee machine. Came out spending less than I planned and I am very happy with the overall experience.

I like JL but don't ever try to make an enquiry on line or by phone. The replies to my enquiries about a product came to nothing; I gave up and have gone elsewhere.

A great John Lewis store which we enjoyed browsing round. The staff were really friendly and tried to help us find the items we were looking for (without any pressure to buy).We visited the cafe while here which was okay - a nice pot of tea but the brownie was a bit rich (I love a brownie but this had excessive amounts of sweetness in it).The car park was good but if you don?t get the timing right for your visit (which we didn?t), then you can get caught in quite a bit of traffic on the busy road you have to drive onto. (The roundabout really would benefit from traffic lights!)

My son & I visited the store on Saturday morning, we were greeted with a smiling face.A member of staff first approached us to ask if we needed help whilst looking at the coffee machines, we declined thanking her & she reassured us to please ask if we did at anytime want her help. When we had chosen our purchase I was also looking at other kitchen equipment & another young man offered to carry our goods to the till! Our whole experience has been very pleasant & can?t fault the staff throughout our visit. Well done .Thankyou all so much

We arrived at the store looking for lighting for our newly decorated lounge and conservatory. The choice was extensive but what really helped was the assistance from Liliana, she was amazing and helped us choose the right lighting complete with bulbs etc. at no time did we feel that we were being sold to, she is a fantastic asset for John Lewis.

Went into JL today looking at car seats for our 4 year old who had just outgrown his. We had an idea of what we were looking however after meeting Ellie we knew exactly what we needed. It was a pure pleasure, she was fantastic with our son, explaining everything we needed to know (which we would have had no clue about if we had brought online), even going to the effort of helping us unbox it so we could put it in our car, as our son was so excited to go in it. We all need an Ellie, well done John Lewis Chichester fabulous service as always
