Avoid Avoid Avoid. Website is sluggish and does not work properly. I hired some equipment - the date was selected for 1 week but when e-invoice came through it showed i had hired for 1 day - the day i ordered! When i phoned customer services instead of just changing the dates, i had to cancel and submit a new order & pay again (they then take 5 days to refund the original payment). Equipment was due to arrive today, i phoned in the am to check likely delivery time (as no specific guidance given on email or text). I was told 1-5pm this evening. at 4.10 i received an email telling me the order was cancelled. I called and yes it has been cancelled and no-one can tell me why - computer says no and that's that. Of course i need to wait 5 days for the refund and no i will not be paying a 3rd time. Absolute shambles - use at your own peril

4 people at the counter, but they are not interested in talking to customers.Tell you everything is paid, then send you an additional invoice (with no detail as to what it's for) and take the money from your account without your permission.Can't speak to HSS on the phone and they don't answer emails.To add to this the generator we hired from them broke down.

Drove from east grinstead to hire a tower.Told by staff there that nothing to hire as all has to be done by phone. Wasted journey as all was there waiting to be hired.Very confusing indeedCan this not be mentioned?

Hired a combination ladder so I could decorate my stairs . Ladder not fit for purpose instruction confusing , could not use as instructed as extension part of ladder could not be removed as per instructions. Could not use as a step ladder as base to wide to fit stairs. So complete waste of my time and money £80 down the drain ?

Very helpful staff. Very knowledgable. I am renovating my garden and I wanted to come in and get some Information on some machinery.The reason for four stars is that I couldn?t hire anything in the store and that I had to go online and do it.As I was there in store it was a bit annoying. So remember that you have to reserve/pay for online.

The tools hired did the job and were very well presented. I have used HSS several times in the past and always been happy. Unfortunately I found the organisation has changed slightly and I received chasing phone calls for return and an outstanding payment which wasn't outstanding!!
