I had fish and chops. Dinner was bought out in goodtime. At first i didn't see the chips they were hidden under the rather skinny piece of fish yes all 12 of the soggy under cooked chips. All at a cost of £16.75. I have had much better fish and chips in my local wetherspoons for £11 including a pint of lager. Also charged £1.85 for a glass of soda with a shot of lime in it. Total rip off joint. Never again.

What a delicious cranberry and parsnip nut roast!!! Generous portions, lovely accompanying veg. We didn't have room for pudding sadly, next time I hope. Would highly recommend to any vegetarians looking for a delicious lunch, and any meat eaters for that matter. Lovely friendly service, helpful with my sister's wheel chair. Thank you Hornbrook!

Worst pub meal ever. Overcooked, very little food and very expensive. No apology for my complaint of obvious sub standard food and chef

Decided to drop in for lunch but left very disappointed. Requested my steak medium but it came dry and over cooked, tough to eat and my husband had plastic in his meat pie! No apology or anything

Been to Hornbrook plenty of times and never had a bad meal before. Came for Sunday roast on this visit and it was not good. The beef seemed over cooked, Yorkshire puddings were burnt and the roast potatoes were really hard. It all seemed overpriced for what we got. The service was good though just a shame the food was a let down.

Service was good but food quality poor and very expensive compared to other local pubs. I was with a friend who booked the pub so couldn?t complain on the day. I paid £18 for steak frite the steak was charred black on the outside and pink on the inside looked ok but tasted burnt was so tough had to slice thinly and chew extensively it was so bad. At £18 it came with a few fries and a few sprigs of watercress. To accompany the meal I had a small bottle of Heineken Zero alcohol beer at £4 what a rip off I?d recommend to avoid this pub there are may better close by

So disappointing, not sure how they get away charging £16 for three pieces of meat (beef shin) the size of my baby finger nail, 4 pieces of carrot and some luke warm mashed potato . My daughter was told when served her meal that they couldn't cook medium rare as against company policy?? The burger was also decidedly average, on a par with Burger King. Sadly we would never venture back. We have been to several other Hall & Woodhouse pubs which are much better

arrived after a short drive . . . Its been a while since I've been to a public house which had all the characteristics I wanted . . . the friendly atmosphere, food and pleasantness of the staff. I great place for a great price for a meal out . . . . David

What a great pub, classic but not old fashioned. Great choice of beer and fantastic food! Even live music and charity events. Cheers.

Service was terrible. Quick to take an order but after that, service was non existent. Never came back to see if we wanted further drinks or desert. When we said we wanted to order more, they disappeared and didn't return. Complained on leaving to the manager who seemed pretty uninterested and as soon as we left all the lights were switched off and the staff vacated. Obviously had better places to be at 10 o'clock at night. So disappointed and would have spent another £30 and was looking forward to a rare night out. Left hungry and won't be back sadly

A very pleasant evening, great food from a good menu, gentle entertainment provided a great atmosphere. Plus they stocked the Cider I like! Well done and greatly improved.

Dreadful service- at least 3 of special menu choices weren?t available, but we were only told when we ordered them., then tutted when we had to make a quick last minute choice. Food then took an hour and half to arrive. When it did it just wasn?t very nice?the staff were condescending, slow and just didn?t seem to care. Obviously a pub that caters for, and exploit?s elderly people. If you like nice food and nice service, don?t bother coming here. They were quite happy to charge us £3 for an instant coffee because apparently the machine had been so busy serving everyone else that we were only worthy of instant? Shocking. Don?t go

We visited yesterday for lunch. The food was good we had a light lunch and you were reasonably busy which is always a good sign. My only feedback would be you sat us next to a large table having fun. There was not even room for people to get in and out of their seats and we found it hard to have a conversation with the noise. There were other tables which were empty the whole time we were there so it would have been nice to seat us apart until the tables were full. We will visit again thank you

We went on a Sunday afternoon, there was a live band setting up. Originally we were seated in the bar area directly in front of them. Although very good they were also very loud being directly in front of us. The staff kindly moved us to somewhere more suitable so we could talk as a family.\\nI love that the pub does live events / quizz nights. But equally I'm glad we were able to be moved to a more quiet area. The food as always was very good.
