Visited Harvey Nichols today to purchase my old ?favourite? make-up. Lara sat me down and applied my make up, introducing new products and took time to explain the benefits and differences etc. I really enjoyed my morning and it was worth having the appointment as I could redeem the cost on products, so it was a win-win. Thank you Lara. :)

Harvey Nichols in Leeds' Victoria Quarter on Briggate is probably one of the nicer and more high-end department stores in the city centre. It is a stone's throw away from Trinity Leeds. The focus here is mainly on your cosmetics and beauty brands, as well as stocking fashion items and accessories, such as handbags, rather than having a wider selection of other categories, such as technology which you would find at John Lewis nearby. The store does have a good and luxurious feel to it, with the Food Hall on the upper floor, having a nice selection of novelty gifts, obviously, the price is high but that is common with gift-sets anyway. Harvey Nichols Fourth Floor Brasserie and Bar, is also present next to the Food Hall, offering a selection of food and drinks in a relatively comfortable environment. The building does look pretty ordinary compared to other branches, such as those in Manchester, Edinburgh and London, but this is still a fairly good store and the staff are friendly enough, it is well worth a look in while shopping in Leeds city centre. 4*

I had gone in today just to browse and had such a lovely & pleasant experience. Not sure what the lady's name is as didn't catch it, but she works on the Creed counter. She was so lovely and helpful. I had gone initially to look for a Creed fragrance for my daughter and she suggested another brand for choice as the one I selected was a mature scent. The selection presented was exactly what I wanted and I was impressed she found a perfect selection to my taste and liking. Normally when you tell someone your likes and dislikes they don't really listen and just try to sell you anything, but she got it 100%.I hope when I return to buy the perfume that she is there as I feel she deserves the sale after helping me the way she did. THANK YOU.

the staff were helpful and professional, I was shown which makeup was applied to my face and at the same time showed me how at home I can do my own makeup ,which was helpful ,I bought the Airbrush Charlotte tilbury and it looks amazing on my face it's a full coverage but at the same feel like I'm not wearing any make ,and makes me comfortable

Ok, if I'm honest with myself, I'll probably never earn enough to be a regular shopper at Harvey Nichols. As beautiful and polished and shiny as everything is, the prices here are too high for me and too hard to justify. At least for most of the stuff. Maybe I'll be able to stretch to the occasionally item from the cosmetics section, but that's almost it. The exception is the fourth floor, which houses a restaurant and the food section. Here you'll find cookery books, alochol and foodie delights. Harvey Nichols has their own range of things like teas, biscuits, jams and pastas and also stocks things from other companies. Many of them items on sale are difficult to find elsewhere. It's still pricey, but I don't think it's quite as far outside the usual budget as the rest of Harvey Nichols is. If you have a foodie friend or two (and you're on Yelp so... let's just assume you do) this would be a good place to find a gift for them. Or maybe the occasional treat for yourself.

I enjoy all sorts of food and when Harvey Nics first opened, there were an array of lovely luxurious food, all for a price, obviously but for the odd treat, why not! Now, I've not been there for a long time as yes it's expensive but as I remembered the clientele were too rude and having to make my way to the top floor for some treats when there were so many of shops was too much to bear and today was no exception! I was walking behind two guys chatting, walking into the shop, when the last one said, "you're welcome!" They way someone says it when I should've said thank you to him. Now, IF he had held the door open for me, I'm a polite person and would have, but seen as he was only opening the door for his big 6ft frame and his mate, I didn't. Anyho getting up to the top floor wasn't too bad as there were few clientele around. I walked around the food hall and was so disappointed! There were a few shelves around of teas, coffees and bits. I guess that's solved the problem of ever having to go in there again as there wasn't much to buy. I didn't get any customer assistance as they were busy chatting to each other. On the way down and out, I had a girl in fake town, full make up, hair straightened to an each of its life, handbag on arm, leggings (chubby) and ugg boots look me up and down in a disapproving way then another woman, barber jacket and few bags of shopping, barge past me to get to the escalator without even a thanks. Decision made, don't go back to Harvey Nics Leeds again

Leeds' premiere super expensive landmark shopping palace is hard to knock... So long as you have lots of cash and a slender figure which will fit into the Dolce, McQueen and Armani. For those not wanting to spend stupid cash though, they also sell Acne tees in various grey-like shades and Varvaros Converse Collaborations... and what's not to love about that! Oh, and they have a lovely eatery on the top floor too, complete with bar... Yay for shopping and champagne in the same building!

This place is huge! I only went up and looked at the top most floor. I really enjoyed the doorman and the window decorations though. The next time I got back to England, I am going to take my time looking in this store. If only I had endless money for it. That would be perfect.

Tricky one. The Victorian Quarter is beautiful, and it's a joy to sit 'outside' beneath the glass canopy warmed by the gas heaters and people watch. At the moment this area takes on an added attractiveness as it's dressed for Christmas and the twinkling lights and mirror-ball tree all add to the excellent atmosphere. So for location and ambiance it's second to none. But here comes the but.....We were served by a frosty, unsmiling waitress, our coffees were lukewarm and seemed to take an age to arrive, and my hot chocolate fudge cake was cold but for a couple of mildly warm bits in the middle. On the plus side, the coffee and cake were both tasty and of decent proportions. And of course, with it being HarveyNix, the prices were just that bit higher than most other places. So a bit of a mixed bag then. However the bottom line really is that regardless of the location, the basics should be correct, so therefore 2 stars only.

Harvey Nichols has such a grand label attached to it, it's no wonder we ended up going to both the Fourth Floor and this espresso bar. The building is lovely and provided a good balance between being outside (which was horribly humid at the time) and inside (which would be sad to do when it was so warm) with its glass ceiling and the coming and going of shoppers. Our waitress was a touch fierce but I think it's because we slipped in right at the end of service, so she probably wanted to go home. We ordered two teas and a brownie with cheescake topping, which was gorgeous, and it was great to try something a bit different. The brownie took a while to come and, although the server did explain to us and apologise for the delay, it's always a bit of a dampener on your day when something is delayed. Everything comes with a HN sized price tag, though you can get a good offer on cake and a tea/coffee, which of course we did. A nice little place to relax when you want something on a plate rather than a wooden slab. (Don't get me wrong, I love a good wooden slab, but I do remember thinking to myself that I seemed to eat more from wood than I did from a plate during my visit to Leeds!)

Harvey Nichols is the place that Leeds likes to show off. It's like the posterboy for Leeds high street shopping ('look at us, we're posh enough to have a Harvey Nichols!'). I don't know anyone in Leeds who is rich enough to shop here to be honest. All I can think of is all the people who come here are from Harrogate and all the women who come here just fish for free samples!! This here is shopping for high flyers, pimps and rich kids. You could probably get half the stuff in here cheaper on the net! The stuff itself is pretty boring. Shopping for people with more money than sense. You'd probably look like you get cash, but the stuff is pretty boring, uninspring and expensive for what it is. You'd be better going in some 'indie' clothes retaillers with more interesting and unique wears. The old podgy door guy at the front in the top hat is great though.

The HN 'outdoor' cafe is a favourite spot for a light lunch/glass of champagne, while watching the world go by. Love the soups and the velvety house red (£18/bot) on a winter's day and a cool glass of fizz (from £10/glass) early evening. Not cheap, but so preferable to dark, bustly, noisey Starbucks over the way. One of Leeds' best. London has the Fifth Floor etc but not a 'street cafe'!.

Love the place, and I go probably 4 or 5 times a year, and go to the new summer collection every year without fail. Just wish the store was even bigger ! :)
