I have been here many times before over the years and really enjoyed watching it grow and blossom into the cafe it is today, however, visited on Friday afternoon at 2.30pm with my friend and her 1 year old daughter and their dog, I had my 1 year old son with me, between us we had 1 pram and a tricycle. The sign on the cafe door states no more than 2 prams at one time, no one else was in the cafe with a pram. We entered, chose a table to sit at, asked staff member if there was high chairs she stated ?yeah outside, and if your bringing high chair in you?ll need toLeave the pram outside?. Now we were two women?s holding 1 year old with a dog, there was no offer to get the highchairs of ask if wanted help, which is what most places offer when they see you have your hands full. We then just decided to sit outside as that was easier than dragging in two highchairs. As we were walking out a staff member was walking back in with a cup, my friend opened the door and he barged past her leaving her holding the door, holding the pram and the dog. We sat outside which was fine, upon serving we had a gentleman who had a shocking attitude mumbling under his voice and came across as though he just didn?t want to be at work. It was a very disappointing, hard work £7.20 coffee and croissant. I?d like to return but maybe just easier on my own, which is a shame when it?s supposed to serve families in such a rife area for family walks. A little offering of help and smile wouldn?t go a miss, and maybe think about a pram park - the cafe is small I understand 2 pram rule but if then you want high chairs inside it doesn?t work!!!

Best Sunday roast I have ever had !

Short version: Coffee and fish butty awesome, great staff. Cons, long wait times and an expensive, sad, no-cheese "cheese sandwich".Long version:Stopped by on a Sunday quite late and to be honest grateful to find somewhere still serving food.Lovely place and a great location, we sat outdoors and although the inside space is beautiful, I was quite happy with the covered seating outdoors.First off on the service, all staff were very friendly but it took a very long time to order. Food was brought quickly but waited much longer for drinks. They were busy, and I imagine overwhelmed. Knocked off a star for the waiting times but the attitude of the staff was great. The coffees we had were lovely, although I am not sure the the additional 40p charge per cup for milk with americano is good value, as a cup of tea would come with milk (cold, not frothed) and there was no extra charge.Anyway no biggie, the 3 star was because 1 sandwich was amazing, the fish butty, and the cheese onion toastie was abysmal. It was like the sandwiches came from two different places. The fish butty was enormous, loads of fresh tartare sauce and a healthy portion of chips on side. Fantastic and flawless. The cheese toastie was more an onion toastie. Sad and thin, it had more red onion marmalade (i honestly assumed it would be fresh onion too) than cheese. The cheese was a single slice from a packet and not melted. The portion of chips that (cost extra) came with the toastie was smaller than the one we got with the fish butty (which wasn't extra). Really strange, as like I said the other sandwich was so good, and holding the two together made the comparison of the sadness of the "onion sandiwch" even worse. I told a waiting staff member who said they'd let the kitchen know. We ate it all anyway as ravenous and as said was fine but the quality difference was shocking. Put it down to a "last order, not much ingredients left" scenario maybe, as the other three sandwiches my partner was going to get (burger, caeser, egg) had sold out. Would come again but maybe avoid the cheese sandwich!

Lovely small cafe with indoor seating. Great breakfast and lunch options, and Sunday roasts.

Never been here before, but saw the positive reviews. The positive reviews are correct.Dined in, and had the BLT chicken ceaser sandwich, a proper sandwich, built like a doorstop.Fresh bread, well cooked chicken and bacon. Very good indeed. Will definitely be visiting again.Staff are polite and helpful and the room whilst small has a good atmosphere. The display of cakes, proper sausage rolls and pies was also distracting. Took a cake home for later ?Great place.Parking: A small car park but on a cold wet day in March there was spaces

What a lovely little place, shame they don't update their opening times on the website for the different seasons. Got there just after 4:30 they where closing in 30mins so had nothing other than hot drinks and few cakes available even tho it states they close a 6pm on the website and also on the times displayed in the shop. The guy was friendly enough even tho he was a little brisk in his manner. I guess I'll have to visit the place a little earlier to get the full flavour of the placeParking: Gets quite busy and car park isn't that big

We went to the February Supper club evening last weekend. What a brilliant night. Everything was faultless - food, service and ambience. Well done to Rob and his team. We will be back again.

Arrived with my family and friends, all wanting some of the amazing cakes advertised, was told there were no seats inside even though there was , was then told table service only and the attitude of the young male was disgusting ?my friends have just gone inside to order? to be told ?they will be told to come outside? so we darent go in to view the cakes and decideOrdered coffees and sandwiches from the menu (£9 for a cheese toastie!!) my mother In law and some of the children in our party needed the toilet despite the toilet being free inside we were asked to use the single porta loo outside, making the children wait one by one which was risky without any reasonable reason in doing soThe way way we were spoken to and treated was disgusting and I won?t be going back ?I?ll never know what the cakes taste like but have never had a problem at roundhay park lakeside or mansion!

We live in the area and love coming here for a coffee after a walk. However in recent months the staff and service has been terrible. You wait outside to be seated and no one comes out. Even after going in to ask for a drink they say they will come right out but never do. It?s a shame because it?s a lovely establishment, but no coffee is worth a 30 minute wait.

Disappointed by our visit to the cafe today, since it was a special occasion for my dad's birthday. A couple of things spoiled the time for us:1) We sat outside under one of the big umbrellas in the cafe. The staff were really not diligent and could clearly tell the quality of the umbrellas were bad. In the windy weather, it then broke and collapsed on us, hitting my husband's head with the metal part of the umbrella.2) The toasties were rubbish with the cheese not even melted - a bit of a rip off for the expensive price3) We came here for my dad's bday and when we tried to go inside to the toilet, one of the staff members was quite rude and off with us, telling us we needed to use the portaloo outside instead of the toilets inside of the cafe, despite us paying £50 in total for our lunch. In the portaloo there was an old piece of soap sat in the water and a disgustingly dirty toilet.Thought it was quite a cool place with nice staff but we came away annoyed. I never write reviews either but felt I had to write this for both the staff's attitude, the quality of the food and the safety diligence of the place.

Food is tasty but like others have said, pricey for what you get. This lemon slice was 4 quid and some icing off the top is missing! Won't be returning unfortunately.

Pretty routine café in need of a revamp. Good coffee and reasonable range of cakes etc. Pleasant staff but the decor is a bit "greasy spoon", tired, and in need of an upgrade. The location, the building and surroundings lend themselves to something much better.Update February 2024 - Café has been expanded and refurbished. Out with the greasy spoon etc... Lots of outdoor seating areas, covered and uncovered. Food is good but cakes are expensive in my opinion.
