1st of all parking is hard work not many spaces. Other than that brilliant, clean, freindly service, really good food. comfortable seating, all on one level well worth it.

We thought this would be a bit more of an enjoyable carvery rather than the usual Toby or other similar groups, how I wish we would have gone to one of the others! The pub was very quiet and asked for a table for two the only option being a very small table or one next to the carvery which would be very hot, despite the fact that there were many tables left empty the whole time we were there. We waited 10 minutes for our drinks order to be taken and ended up going to the bar ourselves. We then had to ask about getting the carvery as nobody had still been to us. Food was very bland , tasteless and looked very unappealing, I've never had to chew roast potatoes before! We sat outside afterwards and the table was dirty, had a dog bowl on it along with a dog biscuit........the floor was covered in cigarette tabs and blue paper roll. On top of all that you had to pay to park! Needless to say we will not be returning

Called at The Dam Inn, Newmillerdam, for Sunday carvery as we were passing on our way shopping. We usually have Sunday lunch at The Elephant and castle in Hemingfield - wish we had on this occasion too!! Good points - Yorkshire puddings, beef and horseradish sauce were lovely Negative points - with exception of the pease, all the vegetables were bland and soggy. In particular the cauliflower cheese, which was a pile of tasteless mush! When asked if ?everything had been alright?, I replied that we would not be returning. I was asked why, so expressed the reasons above. The only thing that was said in reply to this , was ?sorry about that, enjoy the rest of your day?. They should take their own advice displayed at the back of the counter- ?how we make the perfect roasties? (see photo)) Not a good experience

Visited this place today and was very impressed! This is a great place for food. Monday to Wednesday buy 2 meals for £14! Not small portions either. We had gluten free fish & chips and I have got to say that they were the best I?ve tried ever. My husband who is not gluten intolerant said he couldn?t believe how good they were. Pub very clean and tidy, staff very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly, water supplied for the dogs and treats given out by staff. Lovely place, fully recommend it and we will definitely be going back!

We called today after many years avoiding this pub due to previous bad experiences.Absolute massive improvements and a credit to all. The staff were warm & friendly and the carvery we all had was fantastic too.I only wish there were more stars to rate the meal today. Many thanks ?????

Ate here yesterday. Called for a drink and saw the special offer 2 meals £14 (Monday to Wednesday) so decided to order. We both had fish and chips. Well it should be called batter and chips as there was the smallest piece of fish ever covered in loads of batter. I know it?s an offer but surely it should be a descent small portion of fish. We both said it?s the worst fish we?ve ever had.

Make sure you get a table before paying for parking as they wont refund. £2 out of pocket. The place was full no tables available and a long wait.

Food was a big surprise. Everything we ordered was beautiful. Even kids' meals were cut above. Just wish the kids' desert menu was better, but I'm nit picking here. Staff where lovely too. Definitely be back.Kid-friendliness: Everyone was very friendly and seated us, so it was easy with the pram for our baby and our 2 year old. Very thoughtful.Parking: 3 car parks. 1 on either side of the pub and 1 at newmillerdam, which is a 3 min walk if that.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes. They have an entry for the pub, which is stepped but the entry to the restaurant in a ramp. You can access the pub through here, too.

Been here a few times and food is lovely, atmosphere is great and they welcome dogs which is fab when you?ve just been on a dog walk. Only downfall, been in today and I ordered hot tuna melt sandwich. The food came (was delicious) though the tuna was cold and the cheese had just been melted under the top under the grill so didn?t constitute a hot sandwich. Still lovely thought just a pointer!! Chips were gorgeous also!

First time visiting this pub with family. We went on a Saturday in the late afternoon. The only thing that let the visit down was the service. Nothing unfriendly or rude just a lack of care. The bar tender didn't listen too well as we asked for no ice or lemon twice but he seemed on autopilot and put them in anyway. The waitress seemed indifferent throughout service and when we asked for sauce politely it felt like it was too much trouble - no check back after food was served. The place wasn't busy so couldn't understand that side of the experience. Criticisms aside, decor was welcoming, the food was really nice, portions good and value was very reasonable. I'd give the place another go if I'm in that area again. Another note: We parked in Newmillerdam public car park at a small cost and walked across as the parking there is very limited so wouldn't bank on a space.Parking: We parked in Newmillerdam public car park at a small cost and walked across as the parking there is very limited so wouldn't bank on a space.

I visited here Saturday teatime with my husband and 6 year old grandson. We used to visit regularly a few years ago when a carvery was served daily and stopped when the carvery was limited to weekends/Sundays. The Dam Inn is very atteactive from the outside. There were several tables full outside. We were able to get a disabled parking spot right by the door which was great for my husband. It was very quiet inside. A few people round the bar but were we were sat we were the only ones. The waitress was very nice. We couldn't fault her service but the food not so good. I had a lasagne. The portion was small, more child portion and dried up as though it had been reheated several times (I'm not saying it had, just was wizened and gave that impression) My husband had fish and chips which were a bit better. Our grandson had fish fingers which were ok. We would probably have had dessert and coffee but chose not to after our main course and called at a shop for dessert to eat at home. Maybe we called at a bad time but we won't be calling again.

Five star service! This is the second time I have been and I was absolutely blown away (this is no easy task!) by your staff and their service. We were promptly seated, then our server was straight over to ask what we would like etc. All staff members were busy and despite being extremely warm, were courteous, friendly and professional. Outstanding food (the Sunday carvery is delicious and huge! ) and service at reasonable prices. Thank you!

We went on Sunday for carvery used to be heaving but not yesterday the service was appalling 3times before we got the bill correct outside all the tables were full of empty glasses and plates of half eaten food plenty of staff but not doing anything
