I visited this salon for the first time on January 12, 2024, hoping to refresh my sisterlocs. I am appalled at the service I received; my hair did not look like it had been done at a professional hair salon. My hair still looked messy, with noticeable bulges of unlocked hair.I also had to endure a whole loc from my hair being cut with a scissors in an attempt to loosen the strand. The hair stylist went as far as to say he had reattached the hair but before I got home it had fallen out. The standards at this hair salon are worrying, and to be charged an extortionate £115 is beyond a joke. Despite numerous attempts to address the issue, the owner, who witnessed the unprofessional work done to my hair, avoids my calls and has not bothered to address my complaints and reimburse my full refund.It is now the 13th of March and still I haven't had a response from the owner. To add insult to injury, on one occasion I was advised that I would get a partial refund because they used products on my hair. The products they were referring to were gel, a crotchet and moisturising sheen. I was supposed to go in and discuss the matter on the 17th of January, but my mother passed away on that very day. I went in the following day only to be advised the owner was unavailable. I even left a video recording of the complaint that showed the state of my hair.I have to say, the hairdressers, Cynthia as well as Chima (who was the one who did my hair), apologised profusely over the state of my hair and were even sympathetic over the loss of my Mother. In good faith, I advised Chima to stop advertising that he can do sisterloc retouch, as this would create problems for him, with customers.Not every hairdresser knows how to do sisterlocs; some are just jumping on the hype so they can charge extortionate prices. This is why we are hearing of many people who have damaged hair after having sister locs by amateurs. What?s truly shocking is the insensitivity displayed by the owner. Despite the hair disaster and the loss of my mother, the salon owner showed a complete lack of compassion or effort to resolve the matter. I endured grieving and planning my mother?s funeral with my hair in disarray, an unnecessary burden during an already challenging time. This business has caused me so much distress and inconvenience. They were unprofessional, lack integrity and compassion in my case.I've since spent additional money & time to rectifying their mistakes elsewhere. I sort advise from a loc specialist, I will add her response on here. I have also been in touch with consumer trading standards. I will soon be officially escalating the matter if I do not receive a resolution. The hairstylist even posted my hair on their IG page looking a mess, which shows the level of cluelessness. I was going to add the video that the hairdresser took after doing my hair but google does not support the format. I will add photos instead. It?s just unbelievable, the service that this hair salon in the heart of Wakefield offers to some of it customers
