“The Tunnels. Wow. What a venue! I can’t say that we have been to any other wedding venue with your own private beach! The location alone is enough to make you interested in The Tunnels but when you get to look around the venue it’s all beautiful. The ceremony space outdoors is great, amazing views to the side and backed with cliffs made it a great space for photography. We love the multiple levels at this venue. It really allows you to enjoy the views. The reception room for meals and the evening entertainment has huge panoramic windows which, when you have a location like this, is exactly what you want. The sunset on the evening we were there was gorgeous. Being able to watch it from such a great view while chatting around a fire pit has to be one of the top ways to end your wedding day right?!We are both huge fans of Devon and love being by the coast. If this sounds like you then you should definitely look at The Tunnels for your venue. The location, venue and staff are all amazing. You won’t be disappointed.”

“Lovely hotel in centre of illfracombe... I left my new coat and the staff not only found it but stored it for me to pick up after a week! Staff were subliminal, breakfast fantastic and big thanks to the lovely Kelsey on reception for giving me my coat back! It really felt like a family-run hotel as staff were all so amazing.Even the crazy lift to our second floor room was an adventure ?Would highly recommend to anyone visiting this beautiful seaside town.”

“Fabulous Guesthouse in a quiet street in Ilfracombe. Jill and the rest of the staff are excellent. It has a lovely vibe here. My full English Breakfast was perfectly cooked and good amount. There is a hill to the property and no parking outside but other than that, I cannot fault the place. Clean rooms, towels etc. Also there is wine and nibbles room (called the Olive Room)available to the public where I enjoyed a ‘Sharers’ board (cheese, biscuits, meat(can do veggie) houmous etc)with my Son one night. It was delicious! Going back to this Guesthouse, hopefully soon ?”

“Lovely, well equipped cottage in a great location. Quality furnishing throughout. The cream tea left out to welcome us was a thoughtful touch. The owners seem to have thought of everything. There was plenty of room for our extended family of eight and we were blessed with beautiful weather to enjoy the extensive outdoor area. The village has all you need for a family holiday and the beach is very sheltered. The cottage and our holiday exceeded our expectations.”

“We have had a pleasant stay at Hidden Valley. We booked a premier pitch and did not disappoint in the size of it. The toilet and shower facilities on the meadow field are good. The water runs very hot in the showers and no pressing buttons like you get in other sites. Toilets are cleaned regularly however some campsite users do not seem to recognise how to clean up after themselves. The toilet plays the radio station and was a nice environment to get ready for the day in. The site is tidy and well kept. The bins are well organised and plent of doggy poo bins spotted around the site. It was very dog friendly and my dogs loved exploring the woodland walks. The staff have been very friendly and helpful. We have use the ‘restaurant’ (getting a drink) and food from the van multiple times. It’s a great place to sit with a cold cider and over look the lake. We used roughly £2 a day in electricity, this was with a mini heater going for drying clothes as it has been very wet. My 2 year old loved exploring the site, with its steam to explore, parks and lots of open space. I felt safe to let him have the freedom every two year old craves. It’s very simplistic and you have to make your own entertainment. We did attempt to catch the bus to Woolacombe however, it never arrived. We enjoyed visiting local places such as Illfacombe, Woolacombe, Heddon’s Gate and Barnstable.”

“We booked our stay through the sun holidays and after reading some of the reviews on here I started to worry but I needn’t have! We have just had a lovely 5 day break with our two young children. It is very quiet and hilly with no evening entertainment for children but that didn’t bother us as we wanted a quiet relaxing break. We had a lovely new, modern and clean caravan which was perfect for us. The views from the park are unbelievable. Combe Martin itself was very quiet so bear this in mind if travelling off-peak. Most of the shops in the town were closed, apart from a few of the pubs. There is a co-op in the town for essentials The sister park Sandaway isn’t in walking distance as all uphill on a country lane but if you have a car it’s only 5 minutes up the road. We only visited once and there wasn’t much in the way of entertainment for kids but a bit more going on than at Combe Martin. We had a great day out at Exmoor Zoo, loads to see and great for kids. We also had a day out at Watermouth Castle, fantastic for younger kids. Ilfracombe is a short drive away and has the tunnels beaches which is worth a visit. Food places we would recommend: The Black & White for lovely fish & chips The Dolphin Inn for a pub dinner - also lovely Sawmills - a short drive from the holiday park but well worth it. Food was amazing and a lovely setting outside if you have good weather Storm in a teacup - watermouth harbour - the best cream tea we’ve ever had. All their food looked amazing and we tried to go back a second time to find they were closed. Novelty factor of sitting on a boat for the younger ones! We had a fantastic breakfast at The Harbour cafe in Combe Martin, food was great and they were really accommodating with us having a baby and a young child in tow. All in all we had the best week. If you know what to expect then you won’t be disappointed. We would definitely return next year and are already thinking about booking here or at Sandaway!”
