“Warm and friendly welcome, good choice on the menu and a specials board. Four starters, four main courses all different all first class. Been to many restaurants around the area this one's the best upto now.”

“Dropped in for lunch while walking in Swaledale. Very clean with wonderful views across the Dale. Very good hot baguette, chosen from a varied lunch menu. Had an excellent pint of fruity Ghostly Pale, followed by an equally excellent pint of Battleaxe, with hints of caramel, from the Rudgate Brewery in York. Excellent service from very friendly staff.Walkability: Not far from the Swale Trail but you will need to walk on the not too busy road for a while. Easy access with parking if driving.Food & drinks: What I had was very nice and other diners seemed very pleased with their food.”

“We stayed for 1 night in Room 8 Tokyo and found the hotel to be excellent. Liked the ceiling fan over the bed as we stayed during a heatwave and the mood lighting in the bathroom was a nice touch. Everything was clean and the staff very welcoming and friendly. Very good choice for breakfast. The small car park at the back was very useful as parking in Richmond can be a problem but we were able to check in early and leave the car there.”

“Nice food, staff ok. Only thing, a gust of wind pushed the big menu onto my drink that I had just bought and it spilt all over. They made me buy another drink. Maybe make the menus smaller”

“Stayed for 2 nights recently, warm welcome, proper hearty food and a great range of beers and spirits. Treats for the dog. Roaring fires in a very welcoming bar, staff excellent and friendly. Pub nicely situated as a base for exploring the expansive countryside, loads of walkers and cyclists. Place just needs a lick of paint here and there but apart from that it’s a proper pub. Recommended!”

“Excellent location so handy for town, shops and supermarket. Property has seven en suite bedrooms with two in the courtyard so plenty of space for all our family. Every bedroom has a colour theme with decor and accessories to match and very tastefully done with lovely clean white fluffy towels and luxurious bedding. The games room went down well with the teenagers . Spotlessly clean and kitchen well equiped with everything provided. A lovely 4 night stay and look forward to a return visit.”

“We stayed for a 3 night short break in mid Aug '23 and were made to feel very welcome. Our two dogs were readily accepted and were regularly given treats and fussed by staff. As a very old building the atmoshere was cosy, with lots of twists and turns and creaky stairs. Staff were friendly and helpful, in particular Rachael at breakfast and the housekeeper (sadly didn't get your name) could not do enough for us and just wanted us to enjoy our stay which we did. Room and en-suite was small but comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our large double bed was as comfy as they come. Breakfast was excellent but evening meals although hearty were a little on the expensive side. Resident car parking was a bonus given the central location. Overall we would say our stay provided reasonable value for the tariff paid. Would certainly stay again if visiting the area in the future.”

“We regularly stay here when visiting family. Scotch Corner is an extremely busy hub - a refuelling stop for cars and their owners. There's an M&S, a Greggs, a Costa Coffee, a KFC, and restroom facilities. The travelodge offers decent accommodation and is perfectly OK for a night or two. Basic breakfast is available at Costa or Greggs. If you arrive at the same time as a coach party, you can be queuing for a while.Additional EV charging points are being installed, which is good news for ecar drivers. We've always had good customer service at SC Travelodge and will visit again.”

“Absolutely amazing find. So full of character and the views just blow you away. Only had drinks, but the staff were friendly, even though they were extremely busy. Love the place and hopefully will be back.”
