Not really a deal of service apart from the bar.Went back after watching our 10 cc gig. The staff were helpful and friendly. Only thing unusual was no wardrobes or drawer units, small compact bathroom just as we were expecting with a cracking shower .Nearby activities: Plenty of activities in York itselfWalkability: 20ish minutes walk from townFood & drinks: Lots of pubs ,food outlets/supermarkets close by

An excellent hotel with extremely nice and friendly staff.Fantastically located in York city centre.Literally a 10 minute walk from the city centre shopping area. Parking is free, and up to 17.00hrs on the day of departure. Suggest arriving a few hours early, to get a parking space, as this is a very popular hotel. Only 2 critical things..1. Shower curtains...not a fan, because of the curtain wanting to hug you whilst showering, I don't know why heavy plastic balls aren't used to weight the curtain down.2. No free WIFI ?. You only get 30 minutes free WIFI. Sorry Travel lodge...you need to get with the times, everyone depends on WIFI in this day and age.99/100Rooms: Extremely clean and well maintained.Nearby activities: Close to the city centre with hundreds of shops and restaurants.Safety: Safety regulations are well adhered too.Walkability: Only a ten minute walk to the city centre, shops and restaurants.Food & drinks: Cooked to a high standard and very tasty, with a great choice to choose from.Noteworthy details: Great value, great views, friendly staff, clean and well maintained. Great food with loads of choices. A lovely bar with a plethora of drinks.

Ok for a travelodge, currently being refurbed inside and is nice enough. For me the stay totally ruined by road noise outside. Could do with some proper double glazing or secondary glazing, even heavier curtains may help.

Having stayed at many Travelodge hotels, York Central has to rank in the top three. The location is perfect for a quick stroll to the city centre and market place, the rooms are exceptionally clean, freshly decorated and bathroom immaculate. The loss of one star due to a missing TV remote and desk lamp with faulty wall switch whereby it wouldn't switch on). First rate staff and although the breakfast, at £9+ pp, may seem expensive, the choice, quality and eat as much as you like, make it very reasonable. As a party of five staying in three rooms to visit the Christmas Market/Fair, we all hope to return again - highly recommended.

Exceptionally Clean and Welcoming Stay.I recently had the pleasure of staying at Travelodge York layerthorpe ,and I can't say enough about the fantastic experience I had. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was impressed by the cleanliness and the warmth of the staff. The cleanliness of this hotel is truly outstanding. My room was spotless, and I could tell that the housekeeping staff takes great pride in their work. What truly set this hotel apart, though, was the friendly and attentive staff. Every staff member I encountered, from the front desk to the restaurant servers, was incredibly welcoming and eager to assist. In summary, my stay at Travelodge York layerthorpe was exceptional, thanks to its impeccable cleanliness, welcoming staff, and great amenities. I recommend this hotel to fellow travelers, and I look forward to returning for my next visit .

Had a good stay for 4 nights and would stay againhotel - located next to River Foss but no bridge over the River so one has to walk the 'long way round' via 1 of 2 main roads.close to Asda and Sainsbury supermarkets, Costa Coffee next door to hotelI was in York for the snooker at the Barbican theatre which is a 15 minute walk round the ring road from the hotelCar Park - likely to be full overnight but has free parking and can park until 5pm on day of checking outBreakfast - goodRoom - was small ! , no wardrobe or drawer space, photo shows only storage space available. No noise from other guests shutting doors etc. aircon in room works well but noisy but can be switched off overnight

Great hotel, we stayed here on a Sunday night and the price was great and we got given a newly refurbished room. Everything was brand new, so it was amazing. The reception staff are great and helped us a lot and gave us recommendations for our trip. It's about a 10 min walk from the centre, so for us, it's perfectly located. They serve pizza till 4 a.m., which came in handy for us. It was an amazing experience, and we will be staying again.

Room was clean and well presented. Paid a bit more for a coffee machine. Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Breakfast was slightly disappointing (7:30am) as cooked items could have been hotter but overall plenty of choice and 'all you can eat'. Car parking spaces are limited and entrance not the easiest to

Great location but a basic room. You get what you pay for, this was a decent hotel for a weekend in York. It was clean and tidy and the staff all seemed friendly and helpful.Breakfast buffet was always full and hot with plenty of choice.Parking was included which was a huge bonus and only a short 10-15 walk to the city centre.Costa is right next door so if your a coffee addict like me it?s perfect. The only complaints would be the noisy air con and the bathroom was tiny with no fan so got quite steamy in there! I also put my sign out on the door for some clean towels and was given 1 and not the 2 even though both was left out to change.I would stay here again due to location and cleanliness (even though the rooms are tiny)!
Nice place to stay, very clean, unlike some we have stayed in.Staff very pleasant, nothing to much trouble. We had a mix of light bites for our meal which were very nice.

Good value hotel with on-site parking. Parking spaces are limited, but they have overspill parking around the corner.Staff are really friendly, everywhere is clean and tidy. The breakfast buffet is very good value, okay then quality isn't amazing but it's cheap, and even caters for vegans! It's a short, easy walk into town.Food & drinks: Vegan options on the menu

Great location and basic room. You get what you pay for, this was decent for a weekend in York. Clean and tidy, can't really ask for more for the price paid.Parking included which is a huge bonus and a short 10-15 walk to locations such as the shambles.Costa is right next door so handy if you want to grab something in the morning.Only complaint would be noisy air con and didn't go down low enough at night. Seemed really warm in there despite it being early November.I would stay here again though, however if staying a week+ I would consider somewhere else due to room and bathroom size, especially if 2 or more of you; I imagine cabin fever would set in!

The decor could do with an overhaul. Carpets were very faded, especially around the edges. Very small bathroom with no extractor fan, so it got very steamed up very quickly. Not a lot of facilities in the rooms are extremely basic, but it served a purpose. The location is very close to York centre, which is very handy. Ample parking too.
