My van was stolen and recovered and my insurer made me go to Alton cars for repairs.Took them 1 month to even give my insurance a quote for the repair meaning I couldn?t get a courtesy car. Once the quote was done and I was eligible, Alton cars told me they have no courtesy cars anyway and the repair would be another month. It?s come back and now half the buttons on my steering wheel don?t even work anymore so I?m stuck with that because I can afford to be without my van for another month while they fix their own mistake. An absolute joke of a company I wish I could give 0 stars.

Walked into the reception this afternoon where two ladies were sat at their desks - I asked if I could get a quick quote for a car scratch, her blunt reply was ? We don?t do quick quotes and it?s a £30 fee ?. What a lovely greeting for a potentially new customer, maybe she needs a bit of training on customer relations.

Our car was brought to them in January for a new bumper and headlamp cover. Now it's April and completion dates are being pushed back despite me going to my dealership whom informed me they have the part I want and are clueless as to why this place hasn't reached out to them. The lady on the phone even cheeky tried to make me pay for the repair despite it not being complete. 100% not happy with this place they obviously don't care about peoples need for their vehicles.

I had someone damage my vehicle with a car door, minor dent and some paint missing. Referred to use Alton Cars Mansfield by Hastings Insurance, I explained at the start of the process I am a bodyshop professional so I would expect a commercially acceptable repair. Barry the estimator was brilliant. However the service I received after this was nothing short of abysmal, My car came back and didn?t make it off the recovery truck, runs, edges and generally a poor quality job, sent back they had for a further 3 days, I received no apology or empathy when I contacted the branch and received an email from the manager that was shocking, lacked professionalism and any understanding as to why I wasn?t happy, The vehicle was returned again, this time I took the vehicle - repair quality was still shocking. Complained to Hastings and IMS who were handling the claim. Received communication from a regional manager called Wes, again fantastic, agreed repair wasn?t great, booked in for rectification due to the way he dealt with the situation I was happy to give them one last attempt. Had my vehicle for the best part of 3 weeks ( I think ) repair quality this time was excellent however is now the wrong shade of red. I had Wes and an independent engineer come to view my vehicle and agreed to additional work. A quote was sent to them from a local bodyshop and has been authorized, Alton cars are now holding up my rectification which has further soured my opinion of them. If I was to ever be unfortunate enough to have another accident I will never recommend these.Service: Body & Trim

Appalling company. I don?t very often leave bad reviews but these guys are awful. I had my car repaired a few months ago after a bump and have since spent a lot of money repairing broken parts. Clips, rattles and broken trim..this is after they had kept my car for over three months .Constantly fobbed off with completion dates.Poor repair and paint match. Had to have a bottom quarter re spray by another company at my cost after it was discovered the paint was too thin to polish out the fine scratches on the repair carried out by Alton. My local garage were amazed at the bad workmanship. I wouldn?t entertain taking the car back to ask them to put it right as the initial repair had cost me over 1k in car hire?they really did take that longAvoid is my adviceService: Body & Trim

We have owned our car from new and was sadly hit by someone while parked and had their insurance send our vehicle here. The first time we collected it back our sill trim was all toothed on the top edge as if someone had been chewing the edges of it.I sadly payed for our bonnet chips to be done while the paint was in the gun. What came back was silicone fish eyes all in the laquer and could see where the repairs were in the reflection of the laquer. Paint edges were sand paper rough too on the quarter. They had left the window scrapers in the car as they worked on it because they left the soil / dirt on the dashboard in two straight lines which probably wouldnt have happened if the pas125 inspector visited as its not allowed but obviously had been done. After rectification work they have sorted the sill trim and stuck us a s-line badge back on the car where one has been missing due to theft as a courtesy which im grateful for. However to sort the sand paper rough edges out they have wet flatted them and buffed them smooth straight through to primer so they are grey now instead of having any color. The bonnet still has one big silicon but they have sadly not cleaned their base guns during painting and have splattered black spots onto our red car. You can see where they smudged one trying to rub it off with a finger and the other was left and just laquered over. I have paid cash for this to be sorted on-top of the insurance work. The wheel they painted had already started to flake and peel a two weeks after so ive paid for all four wheels to be done properly now somewhere else out my own pocket just to make a nice job of them. Just to top it off we got the car back the second time with our floor matts missing too. OEM fitted floor matts just gone. The only reason im not taking it back yet again is mainly because i dont trust them at this point and my partner was told on the last collection that "if you drive it away it means your happy with it and wont bring it back" great way of saying dont come back we have a out the gate warranty.Avoid if using them. absolute bunch of cowboys. Ive seen better work come out of a tin shed.Service: Body & Trim

Good workmanship to my vehicle, but it came back with scratches and a dent down the side where it's been kept while it was fixed.

Repair was good but took 6 months for my car to be fixed with no help with curtesy car and when my father tried to sort it while I was away he was greeted with some very rude customer service. I too called from abroad but no help offered. When I collected my car the lady at the desk was polite and I was happy with the repair.

Terrible experience from start to finish.3 months to fix a simple broken headlight and mirror issue. Had to wait weeks for the estimate only to find out I could have done it via email. When the guy came to collect the expectation was that I would sign blank paperwork so he could complete it back at the garage. The car was then sat around for 3 weeks whilst the repair was completed.Having the car delivered back to me would have taken an extra week, so I collected myself.I arrived today to find the job incomplete with my body work badges missing. So much for the QC process that the car went through yesterday.Avoid at all costs.

Atrociously managed. I've been waiting 4 months to get my car fixed. After all that time I received a message last week that they "won't be able to deal with the repair".

I had a crash on the motorway on the 15/10/21. I needed passenger front bumper, passenger wing and passenger headlight. From the beginning Alton Cars were very professional. They collected my car as it had been deemed undrivable. The gentleman who collected my car was very professional & helpful.Once my car was at the garage I received regular updates and my car was ready to collect on the 13/11/212 days after I had collected my car I realised I had a problem with my side light on the headlight that had been changed. I emailed Alton Cars on Saturday and someone called me the following Monday morning to arrange for my car to be dropped off.Alton Cars accommodated my schedule and completed the side light in the same day and gave me regular updates.I Will be highly recommending this garage and can not fault the service I have received. All the staff are professional, helpful and friendly.Thank you.Service: Body & Trim

I had a minor rear end shunt and my insurance recommend that I take it there to be fixed. After having the car 2 weeks, they rang and said it was ready to be collected. When I looked at the car, they guy said, it's had a new bumper and a new light, (strange that there was no light damage). Anyway, on inspection, the bumper was not fitted to the wheel arch properly, so they took it back inside. When he came back out, he said "we've glued it back in place because it was glued before and there's no clips" hmmm..So I drove it back home and after a week, I noticed the bumper was not sitting flush on the top 2 corners on both sides.Cut a long story short, I took it back and they took it back in and said "there's 2 brackets which must be bent" strange that! They looked at the job sheet and said that it only had a repair not a full bumper! They said they will ring me when the parts come in. So in my eyes, if you're going to repair a car, 1 don't lie and 2 do the job right in the 1st place, then I wouldn't have to keep going back. Also I've contacted my insurance company and told them all this.
