“Rising prices for certain frozen goods and foods, make shopping here not different from elsewhere. But certain periods of time throughout the day can be a little bit of a queue and wait due to only one checkout assistant and other 2 aisles closed.”

“A new member of staff, Martin, accompanied me around the Wishaw, North Lanarkshire store and helped me shop as I find I cannot push a trolley or carry a basket any more. He was a superb helper to me. He then saw me to my car and packed my shopping in the boot for me.??????????”

“Popped in yesterday to buy a newspaper, first time I had been in here since long before the pandemic. It was great to see how this shop has developed over the time, well stocked clean tidy and the new digital point of sale.Great selection, staff very attentive and polite.Keep up the good work, your store is a credit to you.P.S. a nice welcoming Christmas tree in the foyer would be friendly and warm invitation to all of your existing and potential customers.”

“What can you say about Lidl? Nothing negative, that's for sure!My only criticism, and the reason I only score this particular store four stars instead of five, would be that unlike many Lidl stores, this one does not have any self-service checkouts. In fact, there are only three or four checkouts in total.Whilst I prefer staffed checkouts over self-service, not having any of the latter makes me resistant to popping in for just one or two items since I know I'm likely to be waiting in a queue with at least one person in front having a large trolley full of goods.Although I'd be the first to complain when stores lack any staffed checkouts—or worse, having them and not using them!—not having any seems short-sighted, especially given the presence of ASDA, a major competitor, open 24 hours with lots of both types of checkout. If it weren't for the 'magical mystery aisle' that this retailer is famed for, I'd probably be using said competitor exclusively, which is a shame because Lidl is great! This specific store then is perhaps not the best example. With little difference in price between the two competitors, things like speed of checkout queues and lack of any self-service are crucial. Thus, that 'magical mystery', the middle of Lidl, becomes its crucial unique selling point. Pops in for a pint of milk, leaves with a chainsaw—brilliant!”

“Have to rate this as good lol as I went here for an interview and was offered the job on the spot which I found very refreshing. The manager who interviewed me made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. Almost felt informal and down to earth. So unlike any I have had in the past. All the silly questions they ask about situations etc. So my local store is to become my place of work.”
