Been going to the same Sainsbury's for 9 years I'm 27 and twice now they've ID'd for a red bull at 7am dressed in full work wear, there becomes a point where assuming I'm 15 is just stupidity. I have tattoos and was paying using a winning scratch card. Come on.

Pop in most time to grab a water and some snacks for the train ride. Friendly staff and prices always cheaper than the train prices

Bizarre place. Clearly does well for sheer fact it is in the station and provides what people want / need. But the staff are shocking! I've never seen so many staff do so little. Loads of staff standing around doing almost nothing - queue at the till, but staff seemingly standing around not bothered to open up an extra till. Attitude of inconvenience because you would like served and staff hanging around other staff serving but when you ask 'have you got ice' you get 'yes at the back of the shop..' 'where exactly?' ..'back right..' as if you are a nuisance. My local Sainsburys the staff would absolutely take it upon themselves to show you where something is, especially when standing doing little else. Poor attitude, poor management.

Staff are helpful but there are not really enough of them for such a busy shop. Too many self-service checkouts where the machines kept malfunctioning.

Well done to the staff who apprehended a shoplifter this morning. I think it was the manager who went above and beyond.

Was accused of stealing my meal deal and kicked out as I spent too long deciding which snack I wanted.

A handy little shop, open (mostly) from 7am until 11pm, used regularly by locals, visitors and travellers boarding and alighting the metro system, and trains from the train station. You can enter/exit this Sainsbury's from inside the train station concourse or from the main front of the train station. Most urgent essentials, or treats, can be bought here ???

Convenient location if you first come to Newcastle by train. Just buy what you need in a second.

Very handy shop towards Haymarket end of Northumberland St with a restricted choice of food items but mainly the essentials and most popular items Good choice of breads Friendly staff and security guard on door Tends to be pricier than some places but balanced by convenience in high footfall area
