This branch is now a "digital branch" so customers are unable to do any actual banking. I was advised the closest branch that I could pay cash was the centre of Newcastle. This is clearly a cost cutting exercise with no concerns for the customers.

The bank was empty with 3 employees sitting there doing nothing and they told me they are too busy to help and I need to make an appointment or try my luck next time.

Very poor customer service. Rude staff. Hsbc should seriously improve this behaviour from their staff.

Gonna be honest, not the best bank around Sunderland but it?s sad because it used to be.When you walk in your not greeted at all anymore, you have to find a member of staff who (let?s be honest again) looks like the can?t be bothered to be there or even be bothered to help you. It no longer looks or feels like a bank but instead feels like your walking into an Apple store but the only difference is the staff in an Apple store actually know what they are talking about. My example of this: I asked a staff member if he could unlock my savings account, he played around on his ipad and the banking app on my phone for abit, told me it ?should? unlock in a few hours ?. That was a year ago, still hasn?t unlocked. Class. Thanks mate. Job well done ??

Great place to open up a bank account especially for international students who go to university. And I would recommend working with Justine a very kind and helpful person.

An Utterly Pointless BankWe visited HSBC in Sunderland to do some business banking. When we walked into the branch it looked like a cross between a coffee shop and a railway station with a row of faceless ticket machines, or were they ATM?s, most of which didn?t work.We only saw one member of staff on duty with a long queue of customers waiting to speak to her and no sign of a counter. I remembered the business banking counter was upstairs, so I made my way to the stairs but was shouted at by another member of staff who told me that ?nobody is allowed upstairs anymore? (so why the staircase?) and to get back in the queue. I explained that we had business banking but was told to get back in the queue and fill in a form. After waiting for around twenty minutes we were told they couldn?t accept cash or cheques, and if we left them they couldn?t provide any receipts.Best of all we were told that we needed (I quote) ?A city centre bank?! When I pointed out that Sunderland was a city the Assistant explained that it was ?a digital bank? whatever that means, and that we would need to go to Newcastle, which is a city, or South Shiels which isn?t. .It really is time the High Street banks got their heads together to provide services that customers NEED, not the pathetic excuses we get at the moment.

Staff are rude

5 staff in this branch, overworked and demonstrated zero customer service for the 2nd occasion in as many weeks. HSBC should be ashamed of itself if it thinks this is the service customers deserve.

Banking app is a ridiculous. Nothing easy and end up having to go to bank which defeats the object of it.
