“This is a nice hotel and was convenient for my one night stay but there were a couple negatives which I have fed back to the hotel. It wouldn’t stop me from staying there again for one night.”

“Had a wonderful stay at this hotel last night, couldn’t fault it. Special mention for Laura who made our wedding anniversary weekend really special, was much appreciated. Hotel is situated right by the Mailbox and The Cube and our room overlooked the canal. Perfect location for Brindley Place, too.”

“It's a Premier Inn so like most others in appearance, and it does what it says on the tin. Clean, well presented rooms, recently refurbished. Perfect central location. Decent bar/restaurant attached. With a number of convenient Premier Inns nearby there's a choice of few but this one is always top of the list for me. Why always top of the list? The staff are great, always friendly, helpful and are one of the main reasons for me choosing to stay here over other options nearby. Vicky was a great help on recent visit. Will be back soon! PS For those who complain about outside noise....it's a city centre hotel not one in the rolling hillsides of the countryside.”

“What a lovely day. My daughter's wedding was at the hotel, and it was superb. The staff were great and I can't fault them. However there were times that they were understaffed. But I can't fault the effort and demeanour. We were in Cristal RoomThe bathroom was lovely with super roll top bath and huge shower. The bed and pillows were fabulous and I slept well. The towelling robes were a great touch, but my 6.2ft partner would have been well exposed in it and I had to ban him from standing in the window in it.Great storage and iron. Lovely Espresso and good tea. What's not to like.Noteworthy details: Great building sympathetically restored. Stunning front bar.Colemore business district . Bars, restaurants, shops. Feature ceilings, mirrors and gorgeous staircase. Walking distance to everything.”

“Don't review often, but had a great experience at this store today. The guy who served me (unsure of his name, had glasses) was most helpful and knowledgeable. After trying a few pairs of running shoes I am totally sorted with the right fit.In fact I came out with 2 pairs ?Many Thanks!”

“Ideal for business traveller. Good sized room and very clean. Fairly good location - just over five minutes walk from New Street Station. Didn’t eat on this occasion but have previously and it’s good - decent bar too although not massively atmospheric. Friendly staff.”

“The hotel is a couple of minutes' walk from the station which was very handy. It was reliable and exactly as you'd expect - clean, very comfortable and quiet. Just one word of warning for female solo travellers, the area after rush hour doesn't feel safe - lots of men walking about and some gathered around the entrance which is a floor below reception. I'd advise eating in the hotel at night unless with others. As we walked back from eating out we all felt the area was risky and it was only 9.30pm.”

“Lovely Hotel 10mins walk from station, Breakfast and evening meal spot on. Rooms very clean (Thanks House keeping) well now then the staff In this hotel are the best I have ever come across, so cheerful and have great banter. This made the stay very relaxing and enjoyable. 100 STARS go to staff, Other hotels should take a leaf out of their book.”

“Initially me and my friend were contemplating to book this place as it was far away from city centre but with discounted price we took it and surprisingly the experience was super good. Took X2 bus from city centre and reached within 40mins. Initial impression wasn't impressive as the reception lobby was under renovation, we booked a room with twin beds and i kid you not, the room was so amazing with a view next to the airport, we could see all the planes taking off and getting down through the window, The service was great as they had the coffee and tea packs available with the kettle. Except the fact the wifi chargeable, everything was great, I'd definitely recommend and would stay again if I happen to visit Birmingham.Rooms: The rooms were clean and tidy, with refreshments being readily available.Walkability: 2 mins walking after getting down from X2 bus to the Birmingham international airport.”

“We arrived and waited for our room key. We was given it by a blonde girl then was left to find our way. The room was comfy with tea coffee, toiletries towels etc the usual room template. There was children running up the corridors upto midnight and then again from 6am ( NOT THE TOBYS FAULT ). NOW BREAKFAST. We came down and queued at the bar and was told to help ourselves Asked for cutlery and was told to queue at the bar. Went to the coffee machine no cups when I asked for a cup I was told to queue at the bar. My children asked for coco pops but I couldn’t find as advertised on the menu. When I asked where it was I was told I had to queue at the bar for some. I looked for some orange juice but couldn’t see any so I asked again and you’ve got it it was behind the bar. There was pancakes with chocolate sauce and marshmallows advertised on the menu but could only find syrup so we had the cooked breakfast which was really nice. WHY DONT YOU PUT CUPS NEXT TO THE COFFEE MACHINE AND PUT CUTLERY ON THE TABLE AND CHILL THE OJ? THIS WOULD BE LESS OF A HASSLE TO EVERYONE. On departure we put the key in the drop off box and left through the bar. No goodbye no how was your stay nothing. Not even eye contact”

“I've not stayed here yet, but do have come here several times for breakfast or a coffee. Nice food and the staff are amazing (very welcoming and polite), and sometimes they have given me a free coffee. I would recommend this place for breakfast or a coffee and it's all you can eat with good quality food too. 4*”

“What a wonderful experience I have had here at the Premier Inn in Aston Birmingham. Was greeted with warm and friendly staff and was looked after throughout my stay. Accommodation was sublime with a lovely bathroom. Dinner and breakfast was very yummy with a good variety of dishes.Would like to thank Tia for her kindness, work ethic and professionalism. Have observed her working the reception and restaurant, looking after the customers and being open, friendly and always smiling. If Tia is not a manager, she should be strongly considered for this role.If I am booking a room anywhere in the future for work, in the UK, I will be happy to make the Premier Inn my first choice.”

“Everything running smoothly. Polite staff, willing to help, everything explained before my check-in. The room was clean and the shower was really good. I had a couple of beers at the bar and the service was amazing. I had a full English breakfast and was lovely. A star for Mira provided an amazing service. I will come back.”

“Booked into the Castle Bromwich Travel Lodge last week. The staff were absolutely amazing so helpful when we had some issues with our Spanish phone. I would like to mention by name Claire and also the Manager who were both so supportive and could not do enough for us. We had a great stay thank you.”

“Recently stayed at this hotel for a convention celebrating a tv show I love. Overall I enjoyed my stay in the hotel portion of this weekend. But I certainly expected more of a Hilton. At first I booked a deluxe single but learned this room doesn’t have a bathroom door and then upgraded through the Hilton Honors programme as a friend was coming and we couldn’t have a room with no bathroom door (we first met at the hotel but know each other through online mediums). So that wouldn’t have worked. Luckily the upgrade went through and the price for same was reasonable. The first issue was the convention I was going to was Friday to Sunday at 4am. The convention rate did not include the Sunday night online and so my friend and I had to transfer on Sunday night as the hotel attempted to charge me full price for everyday if I tried to book Sunday night. The hotel is interestingly laid out. It’s like three hotel buildings in one joined together. Meaning the lifts by the lobby don’t necessarily lead to your room, even if they go to your floor. This wasn’t as issue for me as I mostly used the stairs (more on those in a minute). But if you had a room that required you to use the lifts in the Monarch Suite area and an event is on that you need wristbands for it could be hard to get to the lift to get to your room. Which, if it happened to me, would put me off coming again. And I saw it happen to people. The staircase is a stage (see picture) how a main staircase in a 4 star hotel looks like this I don’t know. I know not a lot of people use the stairs. But still, have some self respect and carpet/tile and paint the stairwell… anything. Everything was overpriced in there. £3.90 for a Coke Zero which they often ran out. Almost £10 for a gun and tonic or a vodka and coke. Just calm down. You’ve made mint on the price of your rooms, even at a discounted convention rate, you don’t need to charge that much for drinks. Also the coffee shop area stops taking cash at 12 or 1. Which is crazy. The last of my cons is that my friend went to use the pool and there was a £10 charge. For a resident! I’ve never seen that before. Again, they just want to fleece you for all you have without giving you a better experience for the money. Ok for some pros. My room was a deluxe king room. My friend is like 6 foot 4 or something. He was very comfortable in the bed. I found them very comfortable too. The bathroom and the room was nice and spacious and clean and the temperature control was great. It also has a tiny balcony. The hotel is so close to all the NEC/Resorts World/train and airport amenities and the walkways around the hotel and between all those places are amazing. The hotel staff was exceptional in some issues that occurred during the convention including being part of saving a life when a woman went into cardiac arrest. She is doing well and recovering. The breakfast was delicious and the options were varied and a wide selection was available. Also the coffee machines made really good coffee. The hotel is a bit of a maze. So you can have good fun getting lost in it and finding your way around.”

“Really good place this. Cheap as chips for a breakfast the beer is well priced too compared to most places. The tables we tended to sit are were usually sticky in places and the menus were sticky too. But other than that the food quality etc was great for what you pay!”

“The rooms are clean, the bar served food quickly, the reception was always manned. Shame the discrepancy between Sunday prices and week day prices are so huge or I would be back a lot more. £30 on a Sunday against nearly £200 on a Wednesday is madnessAlso be aware the signal in the rooms is okish, not the best but not dead like some, the WiFi however was bad, slow and spotty. Gave up on it after an hour to go back to mobile data”

“Nice hotel, very clean, beds very comfortable, staff polite and helpful. The only bad mark was that the USB ports didn't work. We had phone chargers, but with the lack of sockets it meant unplugging kettle, or tv to charge phones.”

“We had a great experience at this hotel, particularly for our daughter who has Coeliac Disease - a lovely member of the team (Preeti), managed our service from start to finish - ensuring we understood the allergen menu, provided freshly washed cutlery, cleaned the table for a second time, provided fresh fruit that hadn’t been out on the buffet to limit risk of cross contamination, she also discussed our dietary requirements with the chef and stayed to oversee the preparation process to be able to confidently say the food was safe for our daughter to eat. And it was! We haven’t experienced that kind of service anywhere since diagnosis 18 months ago - it made staying away from home comfortable for us. Overall the hotel was great; clean, room available slightly earlier than check in time, staff all friendly and pleasant. Car park is a little tight but great that there’s one available and reasonable parking charge. Thanks so much and we’d be happy to stay again :-)”

“This is a well run hotel very close to the entrance to the airport. Check in was painless, staff were really nice. Bag storage was no issue. Room was good and clean but lacked attention to detail, surfaces need wiped more carefully. Breakfast was great, fast, good amount of food, always getting replenished. The rest of the hotel looked stylish.”

“I’ve been staying at the Marriott in Birmingham for a number of years now, and what sets it apart to other hotels are the staff. Even though the faces have changed over time, the customer service ethos stays the same and that’s why I keep going back. Has recently benefited from a bit of an internal facelift, which to be fair was needed to freshen up the decor a bit. Excellent gym facility too which I like to use whilst I’m staying away from home.”

“Wifey and I have just come back from a 6 night stay at this hotel. Our son lives in Birmingham and should have been having his graduation ceremony which was cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak. We had the time off booked so decided to come up and visit anyways. The hotel had only just reopened for business and there were some restrictions in place as a result of the virus. The room was a pleasant surprise, spacious, light and airy, if a tad warm as the radiator had been turned on. The bed was comfy and the bathroom nice a clean with reasonable pressure to the shower. Could have done with a little more storage but then I don't expect too many people stay for more than a couple of nights normally. We did discover that the seal round one of the double glazed windows was not very tight so, with the room being at the front of the hotel, some traffic noise filtered through into the room. Being a light sleeper this was a bit annoying for me as the local emergency services do like to use their two tones at all hours of the night. Also the guest above us must have been wearing hobnail boots round their room as we could hear every footstep as they wandered around at 3am! Restrictions also meant that the room was not serviced every day but was cleaned and the bed changed just the once but this was not a problem for us. We had booked bed and breakfast so I was rather looking forward to my full English every day so you can imagine my disappointment when breakfast was just a grab and go bag. The kitchen and bar at the hotel remain closed for the time being so breakfast consists of a bottle of water, carton of juice, croissant, blueberry muffin (the best bit), a piece of packaged cheese, a small container of jam and a piece of fruit. This is fine and full credit to the hotel for trying their best but after the third day it was a bit dull. The staff are brilliant and even showed concern when we stopped taking all the breakfast bag, thinking that my wife was not eating properly. (We did find a little coffee shop just over the railway bridge called Marshalls where bacon and sausage was available) The hotel bar was also closed which was a shame and obviously we could not get an evening meal if we had wanted one. The hotel is right next to Acocks Green station with two trains an hour into Birmingham on the current timetable. Once things are more normal I imagine there would be maybe one more as currently there is a 40 minute gap if you miss the 43 minutes past train. The hotel itself is doing what it can to survive and they told use they have an agreement with three airlines for their staff to stay at the hotel which explains the comings and goings at al hours of the day and night. I cannot fault the staff who were all lovely and nothing was ever too much trouble. We hope to come back and stay here again and look forward to seeing how it is in more normal times. (If only to try their cooked breakfast and enjoy a beer or two)”

“The windows seem very thin, which meant the room was quite cold and noisy. However, the room was clean and the bed comfy. The staff that I encountered on my stay were friendly and approachable.”
