This is a review of the M & S White Rose cafe only, not the store in general. Why are there no menus? I don't mind using the touch screen but it would be nice to know what everyone wants before you start. Instead everyone in the party has to go to the screen in turn with the person placing the order and go through it to make their choice. The cafe wasn't that busy but there was quite a crowd of people around the screens choosing and ordering. It wasn't clear if there was a queuing system and people were leaving and then returning presumably to advise others what was available and ask what they required. When ordered the drinks arrived quickly but cups were dirty and had to be changed. The food arrived very quickly, a bit too quick for my liking. As well as food taking a long time to arrive which is annoying I think it can also arrive too quickly. Our food was obviously just warmed up, which would be okay if it had been done well but the fish was hot, the chips cold and peas cold and hard. All the cutlery was stained just to round things off nicely.

The best customer service I?ve ever had, the staff are amazing and made my experience after I was upset in the store, they were perfect with my daughter and deserve all the praise they can get. Thank you

Visited 3/1/24 expecting something good. Nothing different to any other M&S, apart from the large Foodhall which we didn't need. Amazing so much space and no room for a Bureu de Change as at Owlcotes and Harrogate. Asked staff and told new policy of order on line and collect! Never!Clothing range for men short of stock and variety, big let down all round.

This is the 3 time visiting the newly opened store, the cafe is set up like McDonald?s who thought this was a good move, drinks we?ve ordered extra hot might as well asked for them cool as even when you complain they come back the same, so why have the option !!,Tea cakes are cold the butter comes from the fridge not a good combination, we?ve never had this experience at any other store, as the first time we visited we got our money back, but on these other occasions I?ve give it up, take your money but unexceptionable service

Lovely light beautifully presented store. Great choice, excellent quality,staff helpful. It's definitely a cut above your Asda and Aldi. Highly recommended, love it ??

Cafe avoid avoid ... useless save your time go elsewhere. ...waited nearly 40 mins for a teacake..it took 25 mins for the coffee which was cold. Staff walk round like zombies without a care in the world they don't even talk just put the food on the table and look at you daft...can't believe this from m&s but hey ho.

Sad to say, nice store awful cafe. Food was mediocre at best, and I?ve never experienced such miserable uncaring staff! I ordered a decaf coffee because caffeine gives me palpitations, my husband had an americano. No milk with either. Weren?t told where the sugar was ( we found it easily ) AND when I asked which was the decaf he I?m positive had no idea and said erm, erm that one!! I didn?t drink it! Paying £27+ I expected a little more courtesy!

Breakfast at White Rose. 2nd visit and might be the last. Food is essentially good but so cold it's awful. On first visit I made a minor complaint and advised they need to do something. Today, had the full breakfast and again it was just luke warm. Even the butter for the luke warm tea cake was frozen solid. This really is annoying and actually simple to deal with if they had the motivation to do so. Such a pity.

Diane in the Till and good department went above and beyond to help me, unfortunately my gift card wasn?t working and she didn?t stop trying in the end we got there so I?m so grateful. Great customer service super lovely x

Much improved store in the White Rose but the cafe is a massive disappointment!Hate the screen ordering device- makes the order process so long winded. Two cakes we wanted were not available so ended up going to the counter to see what they had. Part of our order was a toasted currant teacake and jam for it was 75p extra! Could not pay with cash ,I believe you should havethe choice how you pay. While we were struggling with our order two separate elderly couples walked away when they saw the ordering system. I was with my 22 year old daughter who is tech savvy and even she said what a palaver it was! Big mistake M&S and I think a lot of your core target shoppers who fancy a cuppa will think the same.

Myself and my husband did some food shopping this morning and noticed that it was self checkout, I never have any luck with them but a lovely gentleman asked if he could help which he did put it all through for us . Great new store in the white rose centre, in the old Debenhams store. Nicely laid out, with room to browse. Nice restaurant and good food. Food Hall is spacious. Recommend.

No longer going the extra mile for customers.The store is lovely and most staff are very helpful.However what part of the M & S board and upper management understand customer service?The store is geared towards all self service. We've been a few times and seen people with prams and walking aids trying to load and pack shopping. There are manned tills in the foodhall however there are rarely enough staff to operate them - although there is usually 2/3 staff on the food hall self service tills?I used a gift voucher at a clothing till which it didn't recognise so it took three members of staff to sort it. I also had to move to the customer service till. Then unfortunately in a bid to get the payment through the security tag was not removed so was left standing at the main door waiting for a member of staff to come. Noticeably two staff members walked passed and did nothing, prior to the security guard coming and another member of staff with the tag device.This approach is not the way forward - if you can afford to pay shareholders you can afford to pay for staff, after all you prize yourselves for you superior customer service.

Second time visiting the cafe for lunch with my children. I ordered fine on the machine and got seated. Our order came on three different trays and three different staff members all at the same time? You couldn?t write it surely they?re smart enough to put it all on one tray together with just one member of staff! Also need to cater for intolerances as no dairy free options.
