Absolute incompetence is the only way to describe the Halifax. My father passed away in December 2014 and when I went into the branch to discuss his ISA they had no idea of the changes to the ISA rules which related to someone who died after 3rd December 2014. I had to explain the rules to them (the Halifax) again and again on each subsequent visit. It is now 8th April 2015 and I have to attend the branch again later this week (for the 4th time now) to try and get a simple matter resolved.
All I am told by the various financial advisors at the Halifax, and I use the term financial advisors in the loosest term possible, is that they know nothing of the rules and that it is the fault of head office as they have not passed this information down even though these changes have now been in force for nearly 5 months. Even when the ‘financial advisors’ rang the ISA team of the Halifax they knew nothing of the rules changes or what to do with the account.... Unbelievable! My advice is to take your money from the Halifax and go somewhere else.
